Before he knew it, Li Mu suddenly felt a violent shock in his head, as if he had been hit, and a golden, writhing text appeared in his mind like a swarm of worms.

Compared to the silver script of the Divine Power, this text was much more ethereal and seemed to disappear at any moment, and the two texts were not of the same type. The silver script of the Divine Power seemed like clouds, flowing and ethereal, while this golden text seemed like twisted worms, densely packed and moving like a swarm.

“Continue meditating until your body can no longer endure.”

The voice of the governor was like a morning bell and evening drum, calming Li Mu’s slightly relaxed mood, and he continued to meditate while seated.

Before he knew it, the light shining on his body became increasingly scorching, his skin constantly felt like it was being poked by needles, as if he was standing in front of a large furnace and being roasted. If it wasn’t for the fact that he had been drinking the Sun Spring water regularly to increase his resistance to high temperatures, he really wouldn’t have been able to continue meditating.

It wasn’t until his entire skin had been red from the scorching light, and even showed signs of burns, that the governor took him away from the range of the Book of Heroes illumination.

Li Mu gasped heavily, trying to relieve the pain on his body.

At this moment, there had been a huge change in his mind. The originally smoke-like energy had changed from semi-transparent to pure black, and its aura was turbulent like a flame.

“Meditating in front of the Book of Heroes can allow a person to obtain a large amount of source essence, but unfortunately, only the first meditation is effective. You are the person with the second longest endurance time after Li Mei that I have ever seen. You should cherish this gift from your predecessor.”

The governor looked at the Book of Heroes in the light and said.

The Book of Heroes can refine the source essence from the Source Ocean, burn all kinds of miscellaneous thoughts and negativity, and turn them into pure source essence.

“What holy relic did you get?”

Li Mu communicated the illusory worm-like text in his mind.

“The Shock Calamity among the Seven Demon Calamities.”

……

……

The wasteland, in the dry riverbed, the waist-high withered grass rustled in the wind as life seemed to disappear from this land.

The two sides are continuous ruins.

This used to be a city, the tall buildings collapsed, like the bones of giant beasts crouching on the ground. The reinforced concrete structure shows the prosperity of human civilization to any passersby.

Bacteria and fungi are difficult to survive in this high-radiation environment, so many buildings in the wilderness have been standing for hundreds of years and have not yet completely decayed and collapsed.

Two travelers appeared in the ruins, Li Mu walked ahead, windblown and tired, Li Mei followed closely behind with a Brahman bull in tow carrying luggage.

They both held their rifles in their arms, always wary of any potential threats that might arise. Li Mei changed to an NII-203, the NSG-7 sniper rifle was too eye-catching and couldn’t be brought to Avonigarda.

Li Mei changed out of the fat camouflage training uniform she had been wearing and put on a tight hemp jumpsuit. She tied a band around her waist, strapped a quick-draw holster on her thigh, and inserted a single-action pistol inside. Her long legs and slim waist were elegant and graceful.

The jumpsuit was coated with a special plant coating that effectively shielded against radiation dust.

“There’s a scavenger gathering place here is where East Xia can often purchase useful supplies from their hands.”

Li Mei was saying as she took out the map, flipped through it. The map was densely packed with records of potential dangers and human settlements.

“The wasteland is too big, it will take us two days to walk through the entire ruins, and we can spend the night at the scavenger gathering places.”

The night wilderness is far more terrifying than the daytime, mutated creatures, corpses, and various strange entities will come out to feed.

Li Mu gestured, and a flying shadow suddenly flew down from the sky and landed on his arm.

“Did you find anything?”

Fei Lian shook its head with its big, pitch-black eyes, the widespread ruins limited its vision.

“Your bird seems to have grown?”

Li Mei looked at Fei Lian. As a shooter, she was very confident in her observation skills. This bird had indeed grown a bit in just a few days, and its physique had also become much stronger.

“Mutated creatures cannot be measured by common sense, maybe Fei Lian is in a developmental stage.”

Li Mu fed Fei Lian a piece of fresh meat and said casually.

“The sky is no longer in the early morning, we must first find that group of scavengers.”

Half an hour later, they found the scavenger settlement between two buildings. This place was filled with a bloody atmosphere, and looking everywhere around were the torn and fragmented body parts.

A flock of crows was feasting.

A head was hanging crookedly on the fence of the settlement, and the remaining fearful expression on it was creepy.

The Brahman bull scratched the ground uneasily with its hoof as the two people cautiously entered the settlement.

“There were about thirty adult warriors in the entire settlement, over eighty people, and they were all wiped out like this.”

Li Mei was somewhat shocked.

Raginbeard, such as Xin Linfen, are not considered large settlements, and settlements in wastelands with thirty warriors are not considered weak. At least ordinary marauders wouldn’t dare to provoke them easily.

“It should be zombies, the weapons and food in the settlement are still there, and there are no signs of bites on the bodies. The attack should have taken place two days ago. This is trouble, the attack is from at least a population of three hundred zombies or more.”

After checking, Li Mei said.

She has been trained and can easily determine the attacker through the evidence. If it were marauders, the weapons and food in the settlement would have been stripped long ago. Mutated creatures and descenders would eat all the people.

Only zombies that hold an extreme hate of the living, will kill off an entire settlement without taking anything away.

Li Mu stood on high ground with a gun and was on guard.

“We need to find another place to spend the night, both of us can’t guard this place.”

Although the scavenger’s settlement was in a good location, easy to defend and hard to attack, this was only the case when there were enough scavengers.

The two of them searched through all the usable ammunition in the settlement in preparation for a big battle which might follow next.

Zombies are much harder to deal with than humans, some people believe that their shells have been occupied by souls from the Source Ocean. These resurrected monsters have no fear, only an intense hatred for life.

Leaving the settlement, the two of them found a partially collapsed building and quickly climbed to the second floor with the Brahman bull. Here, they didn’t need to face zombies from all sides, they just needed to block the stairs.

Even if there were too many zombies, they could still entangle with them through the complex terrain of the building and retreat successfully.

They took the sleeping bag off the Brahman bull and spread it on the ground. This building should have been a high-end residence before the war, and although it had been thoroughly emptied by generations of scavengers, the elegant decoration before the war could still be faintly seen.

Li Mu covered the eyes and ears of the Brahman bull with cloth. Some zombies can sense the fear of life. Both he and Li Mei can control their emotions, but the Brahman bull may not.

The Brahman bull lay on the ground, resting. After generations of domestication, it knew how to survive in the wilderness.

Li Mu sat against the wall, and the two of them ate some dried meat and pancakes casually.

“You rest first, I’ll keep watch.”

Fei Lian stood at the window frame, a pair of sharp falcon eyes vigilantly observing the ruins outside, its vision was much better than the two of them.

Li Mei didn’t make a fuss, she crawled into the sleeping bag. After traveling for so long, she needed to rest as soon as possible to recover her strength.
