Immortal? An awakened power?

“Awakening!” It was as if a bolt of lightning struck within her mind as Sineva abruptly remembered the message that Lord Mengke had relayed earlier.

Not too long ago, a demon underwent Abyssal Awakening in La Sutherland!

Could it be this Panaces Succubus?!

Sineva’s expression was a mixture of shock and disbelief. What did Abyssal Awakening imply? It not only meant a smooth road to becoming a future Lord but also its rarity and power were key words inevitably associated with Awakening.

Such a rare awakened demon, perhaps, it was the only one in the whole of La Sutherland!

Of course, what Sineva didn’t know was that, not too far away in the Hunting Museum, there was one that not only had awakened quite early but was also on the verge of stepping into the realm of being a Lord — Night.

However, setting aside Night, the only awakened demon in La Sutherland was indeed Hai.

Putting the formidable power of Awakening aside, its awakened ability was actually the ultimate pursuit of flesh-based demons — Immortality!

Sineva’s face turned grave, facing such a terrifying succubus, even the most resilient line of mental defense started to show signs of crumbling.

Sineva forced herself to calm down, “Unless one reaches the level of eternal immortality, all forms of immortality are only relative.”

This succubus couldn’t possibly be truly immortal; there must be some limitations.

As the Bloody Night Butcher held sway over Vensbils two millennia ago, proclaiming his immortality, he proved indestructible, even in the face of legendary wizards.

Yet, a wizard adept in stealth ventured into his laboratory, pilfering some research data. It unveiled that the Bloody Night Butcher was not genuinely immortal; annihilating his heart and brain would still lead to his demise. Nevertheless, the Butcher safeguarded his heart and brain within the Eternal Sleep Black Box. Despite knowledge of his vulnerability becoming common, the Black Box remained elusive.

This succubus shares similarities and differences with the Bloody Night Butcher.

The likeness lies in the limitation of their immortality.

The difference is that the Panaces Succubus has had but a fleeting moment since awakening and is still unfamiliar with her abilities.

Previously, Sineva mistook the Panaces Succubus for being provocative, goading her into an attack to flaunt her defensive power. However, this stemmed from the Panaces Succubus’s lack of understanding of her awakened state, using Sineva’s attack to test her defensive limit.

Following this line of thought, even if the Panaces Succubus is aware of her awakening ability being immortality, she doesn’t have ample time to hide the “limitation of immortality.”

Identifying her immortality’s limitation would ensure victory!

However, what could the limitation of the Panaces Succubus’s immortality be? A time limit? Tolerance threshold? Interruption mechanism? Or, like the Bloody Night Butcher, a certain organ is the weak point?

Sineva’s thoughts whirled rapidly in her mind. Merely a few seconds had passed, yet she had begun formulating a plan to test the limitation of the Panaces Succubus’s immortality.

“Let’s probe its inhibition mechanism first,” declared Sineva without hesitation, swiftly hurling herself towards the Panaces Succubus.

Currently, the Panaces Succubus was still regaining its corporeal form. The bisected body had largely mended, leaving only the head. What Sineva aimed to do was to test the limits of its undying nature by inhibiting it before the head was restored!

Her rationale was sound: the Panaces Succubus was indeed at its most vulnerable, having to expend energy to repair its body. However, Sineva overlooked one crucial aspect — the innate abilities of the Panaces Succubus.

The formidable power of the Panaces Succubus in front of her had been supplemented by the depth it gained from an Abyssal Awakening.

Yet, prior to its awakening in the Abyss, it managed to claw its way to the pinnacle of mid-level demons through its own strength, not just through its gifted abilities.

Sineva’s surprise attack, in the end, did not find success. The luminescent tail of the Panaces Succubus, capable of both attack and defense, coupled with its terrifying mental power, deep as an abyss, left Sineva unsuspecting and pierced by its mental stab.

Under normal circumstances, this might not have been a dire problem. However, Sineva’s condition was presently quite precarious. With her internal organs damaged, blood vessels wounded, and magic source running low… An accumulation of injuries left her with virtually no resistance to the mental onslaught.

Pain surged throughout her body, from her brain to every limb.

In a blink, the world turned grayscale. Sineva, clutching her head, wavered on unsteady feet. Only through sheer willpower did she manage to remain standing, rather than succumbing and collapsing entirely.

By this time, her planned test of the inhibition mechanism had failed. the Panaces Succubus’s head was completely restored, without a single trace of injury on its streamlined body that was brimming with a sense of formidable power.

“So, this is the power of resurrection,” the Panaces Succubus muttered in rapture. It was her first time regaining form through the path of immortality, the life energy radiating from the depth of her flesh was indeed intoxicating.

One stood at the precipice of full revival, while the other tottered on the edge of collapse.

Unbeknownst to all, the scale of victory had already inclined towards the Panaces Succubus.

After basking in her new found glory, the Panaces Succubus finally shifted her gaze onto Sineva. Her tongue traced her lips, a portrait of greed painted across her face, “Indeed, Mother was right. Such a delightful aura of life force. It’s about time I feast…”

A dullness veiled Sineva’s eyes as she watched the Panaces Succubus draw ever closer. She slowly placed a hand over her heart.

There hung a frost-hued crescent pendant.

This was a talisman bequeathed to her by Lord Mengke. Back at the Resting Ground, Balalaika had mentioned that she possessed items of potential exchange, this crescent pendant was one of them.

This pendant was the trump card.

Not just Sineva’s, but also the ace up the sleeve for the entire Frost Moon Alliance.

Since Lord Mengke was planning to hunt the Descendant of the Demon God, he naturally prepared a trump card. However, till now, not a single card of Frost Moon’s had been revealed… With a bitter smile, Sineva had not anticipated that she would be the one to reveal their hand first.

Grasping the pendant tightly, a trump card for an Abyssal Awakening potential Demon Lord seed, a fair trade… besides, once this card was played, Lord Mengke would naturally become aware of the situation, thus ensuring her survival in the face of impending doom.

Upon pondering this, Sineva found a sense of tranquility seeping into her thoughts. She only needed to wait for the Panaces Succubus to draw closer, and then she could unveil her final card.

As the silhouette of the Panaces Succubus moved increasingly nearer, an enhanced shadow fell over Sineva’s gaze. The crescent pendant nestled in the palm of her hand began emanating a faint frosty glow — a testament to an impending freeze of eternity.

“Even if you boast of immortality, I refuse to believe you can withstand an eternal encasement of frost,” she whispered to herself, the frosty moonlight reflecting in her gaze.

Unexpectedly, the Panaces Succubus halted in her tracks, her eyes confused, gazing towards the sea of fire in the distance. Sineva watched this development, baffled at the Panaces Succubus’ momentary distraction in such a crucial moment. Just two more steps from the creature and Sineva would have been compelled to reveal her trump card.

After scrutinizing the Panaces Succubus’ expression for a moment, realization dawned on Sineva. It appeared as if the Panaces Succubus was whispering to someone else. “Could it be communicating with its hidden ally?” she pondered. Her mental power, currently impaired, made it challenging for her to decipher the surrounding information.

After what felt like an eternity, the Panaces Succubus raised its head, its eyes reflecting an unfamiliar look as it stared at Sineva. “Well, if the shopkeeper demands I spare you, I shall comply,” the Panaces Succubus declared with a tone teetering between petulance and resignation. “Despite my desire to devour you, I must respect the shopkeeper’s request after all.”

“Isn’t that right, shopkeeper?” the Panaces Succubus whispered, its voice imbued with a suggestive undertone.

Meanwhile, on the other side, within the Domain of Wind, Angel quietly let out a sigh of relief.

When Sineva showed signs of defeat and Hai was on the verge of killing her, Angel hesitated for a moment before finally sending a message to Hai.

The primary reason Angel adopted this approach was not merely due to his shared humanity with Sineva, but rather A Sense of Guilt that hung heavily over his heart.

The awakening of Hai was, to a great extent, his own doing.

Earlier, when Prapa, who harbored an abhorrence for humanity, underwent a tremendous surge in power, Angel had privately hoped he wouldn’t encounter him on the battlefield. After all, the demons that emerged from the Voyage of Experience were his own creations, designed for his self-gain.

At that time, this was only a fleeting thought for Angel. But now, this thought has materialized into reality.

A few days prior, could the Panaces Succubus defeat Sineva? The answer would have been a resounding no. However, now, it pressed Sineva into a corner, leveraging its formidable physical form and terrifying awakening power – all results of the awakening Angel had orchestrated.

Although he wasn’t directly facing off against Hai, he was suffused with a sense of guilt.

Driven by this guilt, Angel sent a message to Hai.

Of course, Angel himself wasn’t certain if he could persuade Hai. If he couldn’t, he wouldn’t have any alternatives. After all, the guilt in his heart was not sufficient to propel him to go to great lengths to rescue Sineva.

Fortunately, Hai consented.

Hai had always been aware that Angel was observing the battle, so when Angel sent the message, she didn’t reject it. However, she was somewhat bewildered by the request Angel proposed.

Nevertheless, for her, Sineva was nothing more than a delectable appetizer and a touchstone to test her awakening abilities. There was no harm in sparing her, for there were many more such treats to be had.

Although befuddled by Angel’s request, Hai acquiesced. After all, it owed a significant debt to Angel for its awakening.

Indeed, Hai had its own scales of gratitude in its heart.

As the matter Angel requested was trivial, Hai was quite willing to turn a blind eye.

After imparting a message to Sineva, Hai cast a coquettish glance towards the direction of the sea of fire and vanished without a trace.

Sineva, on the other hand, was left stupefied by the unfolding scene. Suddenly, the Panaces Succubus had decided not to kill her? Furthermore, it departed as abruptly as it arrived, displaying a startling decisiveness.

Question marks flickered incessantly in Sineva’s mind. She remembered the Panaces Succubus mentioning something about a shopkeeper ordering it to spare her, but who could this shopkeeper be?

Sineva picked herself up, scanning her surroundings.

Aside from an endless sea of fire, there was not a soul in sight. Due to her weakened mental powers, she had no inkling whether the “hidden gaze” was lurking nearby.

Suppressing the tumultuous agony within, Sineva spoke out in the standard demonic language, “Who are you?”

After a long while, Sineva received a transmitted message.

The respondent didn’t use the demonic language. Instead, it used a common human language with a noble accent.
