As radiant as a falling star, Popoca, enveloped in flame, was knocked from the heavens and into the earthly dust.

In the wake of the thunderous impact, a massive crater formed, and there in the heart of the pit lay Popoca, covered in blood, momentarily paralyzed.

Yet the Flameless Lord, untouched, descended leisurely.

The power level of the Flameless Lord’s Avatar was almost identical to Popoca. But her ability to dominate Popoca effortlessly, without sustaining even a minor scratch, was indicative of the stark disparity in their combat awareness.

This disparity is an enormous chasm, insurmountable given Popoca’s present circumstances.

“The power attained by force is nothing more than a castle in the sky, visually enticing but collapses at the slightest touch,” said the Flameless Lord with a placid, unruffled tone. It seemed like she was merely evaluating Popoca’s fighting strategy, but to Popoca, it was more like a mockery.

Looking at the agonized Popoca, the Flameless Lord exhibited a hint of pity in her gaze.

The Laudsourcians possessed an endearing attribute to her. If Popoca had met her before he encountered the Profound Lord, perhaps the Flameless Lord would have recruited Popoca as a follower to aid in the creation of new Avatars. It was unfortunate that a perfect body had been marred by Popoca, seemingly more powerful but, as she stated, it was illusory. The cost was the depletion of all potential and value.

Popoca, in his current state, may still cling to some vestige of determination, but fundamentally, he had been altered entirely.

The Flameless Lord ceased to pay attention to Popoca. Given Popoca’s unbalanced state, even without any interference, Popoca would gradually break down on his own.

The Flameless Lord turned her gaze towards Olucia.

“Since you’ve awoken, why pretend to sleep?” Olucia remained unresponsive, eyes shut, still as a statue.

The Flameless Lord slowly approached Olucia and sighed emotionlessly, “A naughty child.”

The Flameless Lord extended her hand towards Olucia, but as her hand was about to touch her, Olucia suddenly opened her eyes. A crimson gleam flashed as she reappeared behind the Flameless Lord, launching a fierce strike infused with terrifying energy, hoping to destroy the Flameless Lord’s Avatar from within and without.

However, just as her powerful strike was about to land on the Flameless Lord’s back, a strange force suddenly restrained Olucia’s arm, and the energy carried by her palm wind dissipated accordingly.

“Attacking your own mother, that’s quite unlovable,” The Flameless Lord turned her head, looking at Olucia with a sense of reproach, “But you’re better than that Laudsourcian. He’s beyond salvation, but you, you can be reshaped.”

Olucia’s pupils contracted as she gathered all her strength into her arm. With a booming sound, the two separated. Olucia swiftly retreated to create some distance between her and the Flameless Lord.

The moment the Flameless Lord mentioned “reshaping”, Olucia knew the earlier comment from Angel about “being sent to Oblivion” wasn’t a lie.

The Flameless Lord was genuinely planning to take action against her!

Perhaps it was for this reason that the Flameless Lord dispatched an Avatar, pursuing from the distant, bottomless Abyss.

“The look in your eyes, I detest it. I granted you life, you ought to be undyingly grateful to me, not glaring at me with hateful eyes.” Condemnation laced the Flameless Lord’s words, yet her eyes remained void of any emotional fluctuations.

“If someone wanted to kill you, would you thank them?” Olucia sneered, “Oh, wait, perhaps you’ve already forgotten what the emotion of gratitude feels like?”

The Flameless Lord calmly replied, “I have no intention of killing you, only to silence your soul to Oblivion. When you awaken, you’ll become better.”

“After my soul has been silenced, I will cease to be me,” Olucia retorted, a spark in her eyes, “Become better? You mean become more aligned with your wishes?”

The Flameless Lord replied, “Your existence is an extension of my will. Serving my wishes should be your duty.”

“Duty? I have my own path.”

“No, you don’t. The path you speak of is nothing more than a delusion, an ephemeral bubble conceived in your attempt to escape me. You can’t follow it.”

“Asgard will give me the answers,” Olucia countered.

“Asgard will give you the answers? The Cruel Scholar told you that, didn’t he? That’s why you’re seeking the divine flame relic, wanting to find Asgard?” The Flameless Lord let out a laugh, though her eyes remained as cold as ever, “The Cruel Scholar is a manipulator of words. Why didn’t you consider that its statement might not promise hope, but could also imply despair?”

Olucia paused, recalling the time when she asked the Cruel Scholar, who replied with a suggestive look, “You want to find your own path? Seek out Asgard, there you’ll find your answers.”

But whether this answer was good or bad, the Cruel Scholar never clarified. Olucia took it for granted that she would find her own path in Asgard, but what if the answer was bad? Olucia knew this, but she dared not think about it.

Now that the Flameless Lord had ruthlessly exposed this possibility, Olucia found herself beginning to waver.

“My path is your path. Asgard is a place long lost down the River of Time, seeking there was a mistake from the start.”

Was it a mistake? Olucia’s confidence began to falter.

However——

She didn’t notice the slight droop in the Flameless Lord’s eyelids when she mentioned Asgard.

The Flameless Lord steadily advanced towards Olucia, “Your future will be created by me, this is the best outcome for both you and me.”

Perplexed, Olucia watched as the Flameless Lord advanced toward her.

“The tranquil oblivion of the soul doesn’t signify your eradication, but a better version of you, reborn from the ashes of your mortal coil.”

The Flameless Lord inched closer to Olucia, who remained utterly unresponsive. Greaves, observing this troubling scene from afar, was fraught with anxiety.

Especially as the Flameless Lord began to gather energy around her. With Olucia remaining oblivious, Greaves finally couldn’t contain his outcry: “Lady Olucia, beware!”

Greaves’ voice roused Olucia from her introspection.

As she regained her awareness, she saw the Flameless Lord, destruction energy gathering, and instinctively dodged her impending attack.

The Flameless Lord glanced at Greaves before fixing her gaze back on Olucia. In a voice filled with subtle remorse, she asked, “Why? I thought you had become more compliant.”

“Isn’t it easier to peacefully surrender?” The Flameless Lord began her approach again, her movements seemingly unhurried but surprisingly swift.

Olucia’s resolve wavered once more. Her emotions towards the Flameless Lord had always been complex.

A mix of admiration and fear.

But hearing her seemingly justified statement now, the sharp descent from her admiration made her mood sink deeper.

She was unsure of how to react or respond.

“No!”

Greaves’ outcry echoed in her ears again. Lifting her head, she found the Flameless Lord right before her. Although her form was identical to hers in face and height, for some inexplicable reason, Olucia felt a sense of condescension.

Greaves’ shouts filled her ears as the Flameless Lord’s attack loomed before her.

She was momentarily disoriented, recalling a previous inquiry from Angel: “If Olucia were to awaken, would she resist the Flameless Lord?”

This question was one that Olucia herself was unsure of how to answer.

Yet Greaves had replied, both unhesitatingly and confidently, “Lady Olucia will certainly resist!”

As Greaves’ words exploded in her ear, Olucia’s bewildered gaze finally regained clarity.

Yes, I will indeed resist! Olucia suddenly remembered her previous decision. She would not let down Greaves’ expectations because it was her desire too.

And having already determined to resist, even having taken action before, why was she now hesitating?

At the thought, Olucia no longer vacillated but erupted with tremendous might to counter the offensive from the Flameless Lord.

Following a dazzling flare of brilliance, both Olucia and the Flameless Lord recoiled several paces.

“Alas, why won’t children listen?” the Flameless Lord mused, a touch of wistfulness in her voice, “Embrace Oblivion, realign with the righteous path — that should be your choice.”

Lifting her head, determination ignited in Olucia’s eyes.

“I have my own path, even if Asgard cannot provide an answer, there will be a place offering me the satisfactory response I seek.”

“I shall never accompany you on your journey!”

With these resonating words, Olucia once again erupted in powerful energy, launching an attack at the Flameless Lord.

The Flameless Lord paused momentarily, sighing softly, “It appears my initial endeavor was a failure. Allowing my bloodline to mature from infancy to adulthood, despite birthing a soul, introduced too many unpredictable factors. It seems a fresh start might indeed be the better approach.”

Two identical entities of light and shadow tangled amidst the dark heavens.

Unlike the previous Popoca, Olucia’s power was gradually mastered, and her battle consciousness could even augment her own strength.

Thus, for the moment, the contest between Olucia and the Flameless Lord’s Demon God Avatar was an evenly matched battle.

Moreover, to Olucia’s relief, they were not currently in La Sutherland. Despite not knowing how she arrived here or why others were absent, this provided her with an excellent stage. At the very least, she could focus on battling the Flameless Lord without worrying about potential ambushes.
