Chapter 1569 Sharu <TOC> Chapter 1571 The Price to be Paid

Angel recounted his experiences within the black mist in great detail.
The process and the control group’s experience had no real difference. However, the process itself was not what mattered; what was important was individual insight.
“The monsters born within the black mist — I can’t be sure what they are. But I experienced their birthing process and felt familiar fluctuations. That fluctuation is…”
Angel paused, looked at the two people attentively listening, and said softly, “Power.”
Initially, Angel couldn’t determine whether the black mist had anything to do with this ‘Power.’ But when he focused on how the monsters were taking form, he was astonished to discover that the moment they took shape, a familiar fluctuation was captured by him.
It was indeed Power! To call it a “fluctuation” is just a convenient way of expressing it. What Angel actually felt was a resonance of this Power. A certain law existed within the black mist, resonating with powers he already possessed — like ‘Gatekeeper’ and ‘Gate of Dreams.’
“All powers are confined within the Nightmare Domain. It’s improbable for New Powers to just spontaneously emerge. So, it’s basically confirmed that this black mist area is definitely related to the powers I accidentally released earlier,” Angel clarified.
Upon hearing this, Freud mumbled, “So having confirmed this also proves that the experiment with the Scroll of Luck was successful.”
Angel nodded, “Exactly. The black mist area is indeed something we need to take seriously in the future. However, our main goal today was to test the effects of the Scroll of Luck and integrate new powers.”
“Now that the Scroll of Luck has proven successful, we might be able to integrate new powers through the Nightmare Domain, potentially enabling us to control energy within the Wilderness of Dreams.”
After circling around the topic, Angel finally addressed Sanders’ questions.
Sanders raised an eyebrow, “Be that as it may, there’s no guarantee that we’ll acquire the relevant powers.”
Angel spread his hands: “With the catalytic effect of the Scroll of Luck, give it a try; you might stand a chance of succeeding.”
The matter of the dark mist is of utmost importance, especially since it is relatively close to Initial Heart City. If the mist continues to spread, it could potentially affect the city in the future. Additionally, no one can be sure if the strange monsters within the mist will come out. If they do, it could spell a catastrophic disaster for Initial Heart City.
Therefore, resolving the issue with the mist is indeed urgent. However, with their current limited abilities, there isn’t much they can do.
The only chance of resolving the issue is by gaining the power to control energy, or by having the ability to bring one’s real-world strength into the Dream Realm. Hence, the integration of new powers is imperative.
Now that the effects of the Scroll of Luck have been confirmed, it’s time to focus on the task at hand.
Angel instructed Freud to continue staying in Initial Heart City, to keep an eye on Sharu, and to monitor and record the control group’s conditions. He, along with Sanders, left the Wilderness of Dreams.
When Angel and Sanders logged back into the Wilderness of Dreams, they didn’t appear in Initial Heart City but rather arrived on a vast barren plain.
At first glance, it seemed endless, devoid of any objects or landmarks. However, when Angel lightly touched the void, a mysterious fluctuation began to radiate outward.
Before long, a sphere of light bound by green runes slowly emerged from its concealed state, hovering in front of Angel and Sanders.
This glowing orb was the true core of the Wilderness of Dreams——the Nightmare Domain’s Main Core!
It was also the convergence of all the powers within the Wilderness of Dreams!
This was Sanders’ second encounter with the Nightmare Domain’s main core, but the awe in his eyes hadn’t diminished in the slightest.
Sanders was a pioneer in opening the Nightmare Domain, and the initiator of integrating this domain into the wizard system. Thus, he possessed a profound understanding of the core entity of the Nightmare Domain. Most of these core entities are smaller than a speck of dust, virtually invisible. However, the luminous sphere before him was as large as an adult’s skull, highlighting a stark contrast!
The core entity of the Nightmare Domain essentially represents control over that domain. Take Sanders’ Black Tower Nightmare Domain as an example; once he assumed the role of its core entity, he had full control over it. When released, it acted like a “pseudo” law domain.
However, this type of Nightmare Domain doesn’t inherently possess any so-called “powers.” It’s more akin to a personal domain.
The Wilderness of Dreams is different, though. Its expanse could well be described as a world unto itself. Consequently, its core entity is colossal, encapsulating all the laws of this unique world or what is referred to as a collection of powers.
To integrate with the core entity of a Nightmare Domain is tantamount to instantaneously seizing control of an entire world’s rights.
Forget formal wizards; even legendary wizards, or those with realms even higher than legendary, would likely find this incredibly challenging to achieve.
If Sanders had initially encountered such a Nightmare Domain, he wouldn’t even have contemplated attempting to integrate with its core entity, deeming it an impossibility.
Yet Angel, naive and fearless like a calf facing a tiger, was unaware of the intricacies involved and didn’t hesitate to try the integration. When he found it couldn’t be done immediately, he began to rack his brain, pondering how to gradually nibble away at the core entity.
And in the end, he actually succeeded.
Through the green rune on his right hand, he bound the core entity, and then set about its dissolution, eventually leading to its complete integration. He worked painstakingly to dismantle this core entity, ultimately aiming to absorb it entirely into himself.
In his heart, Sanders couldn’t help but feel a bit envious. However, the green rune was unique to Angel, something no one else could learn.
Now, it also required Angel to employ this unique ability to chip away at the Nightmare Domain’s core entity.
At this moment, Angel is quietly observing the orb. He has already integrated two types of powers, and along with the one related to the black mist, there are three types of powers emanating from the orb. Despite this, the size of the orb remains unchanged from when he first encountered it.
This suggests that the orb contains a considerable amount of power.
Among such a plethora of powers, can he acquire the core one? Even with the aid of the Scroll of Luck, Angel still harbors some apprehensions deep inside.
“Are you ready?” Sanders looks toward Angel.
After a moment of contemplation, Angel nods emphatically, “I’m beginning.”
As his words fall, Angel extends his right hand and slowly approaches the orb.
The moment his fingertips touch the orb, the existing binding green runes around the orb suddenly radiate a soft, eerie green light, and begin to rotate around the sphere.
Simultaneously, the green rune suspended above Angel’s right hand also springs to life. It’s like a budding sprout breaking through the earth, unfurling its young, verdant leaves; and like a dynamic musical note, composing a beautiful song at a brisk pace.
The green rune on Angel’s right hand and the binding green rune around the orb come into resonance, casting reflections upon each other.
Once their frequencies align, Angel begins to manipulate the binding green rune surrounding the orb.
Angel is quite familiar with this green rune; he has analyzed it multiple times. It represents a series of data points: binding, dissolution, integration, passage, and gate.
What Angel needs to do now is to use this green rune to dissolve the orb, separate the powers within it, and then integrate them into himself.
But before initiating the dissolution, Angel has one more thing to do.
Activate the Scroll of Luck!
