Chapter 1622 Gloria's Decision <TOC> Chapter 1624 Dismantling the Magic Eye

After Azaz decided to join the Barbie Restaurant, it was only natural for him to follow Gloria closely. Therefore, their first order of business was to return to the inn where he had been staying to sort out his belongings.

Gloria and Angel accompanied him.

However, their purpose wasn’t to keep an eye on Azaz. Rather, it was because the inn where Azaz was staying happened to be near Woodrow Bar, and they were planning to go to the Bliss Pavilion. Since Gloria had promised Alan yesterday, she naturally couldn’t ignore matters concerning Carvelyn.

As they were en route to Champagne Road, Azaz came to realize that when Carvelyn had ventured into the void, she had been transformed into a living ingredient by Sebastian.

No wonder, when Sebastian had passed by Woodrow Bar earlier, he had specifically mentioned that there was a delicious live ingredient inside. Azaz initially thought he was talking about the owner of Woodrow, but it turned out he was actually referring to Carvelyn.

It was precisely because of Carvelyn’s situation that Alan had sought out Gloria, which, in turn, drew Gloria’s attention to him.

Whether this was a blessing or a curse was difficult to say. It seemed like a disaster at first, but now that he could join Barbie Restaurant, it actually felt more like a fortune in disguise.

Gloria and Angel went to Woodrow Bar, and Azaz initially planned to join them and offer his apologies. However, Gloria didn’t let him go, as this matter was related to a demon offering ceremony.

While Azaz was back at the inn sorting out his belongings, the demon, who had been silent for a long time, finally echoed in his mind with an ethereal voice once again.

“Is she the gourmet witch you’ve always admired?”

Azaz didn’t respond and continued to organize his possessions.

“She initially wanted to kill you, didn’t she? Aren’t you concerned that by staying with her, you’ll be constantly in danger?” Azaz’s question remained unanswered.

“Your human beings are indeed very strange. You can willingly stay beside someone who has threatened you before. If it were me, I would take the opportunity to kill her.”

Azaz finally spoke, “According to your logic, I should kill you right now.”

“My dear Miloris, when have I ever threatened you?”

“At any given time.”

Sebastian chuckled, “You’ve misunderstood, then. I’ve always opened my arms, waiting for your embrace. After all, we’ve exchanged surnames, haven’t we?”

Azaz remained silent, smirking coldly. Sebastian’s goal was to lead him to a path of downfall, be it for his malevolent pleasure or for some ulterior motive. But since Azaz had chosen to remain steadfast, he naturally wouldn’t give up halfway.

“Fine, although I despise that woman, there’s no harm in you staying with her.” Sebastian suddenly lowered his voice, which was already quite soft, whispering like the buzz of an insect, “She’ll help you grow, and you’ll realize who truly cares for you.”

The demon’s laughter gradually faded away. Azaz’s expression remained unchanged, as he continued doing his work.

On the other side, after Gloria confirmed that it was the work of a demon, she naturally found a way to neutralize the living ingredients of Carvelyn.

In the inner room, Gloria was treating Carvelyn, while Angel was in the courtyard training ground, watching Gank and Leon practice.

During this period of the Novastar Competition, Leon’s rate of improvement was rapid. This progress was not just in his own capabilities but also in broadening his horizons.

Nausica, Coral, and Shalem… Each of them has been navigating through the Wizarding World for a long time, guiding Leon into the true intricacies of this magical world.

If one were to turn back the clock to a month ago, Leon was merely a mortal with untapped potential. Now, he has earned his stripes as a bona fide wizard apprentice.

In Sky Mechanical City, not a moment has been squandered by Leon. Presently, after his sparring sessions with Gank, he heads straight to Sky Tower for more training. Since most formidable competitors are currently engrossed in the Novastar Competition, those still climbing Sky Tower are on par with Leon in terms of skill. For him, each day is a jubilant battle; victories not only add to his score but also fill his coffers with magic crystals. What’s not to love?

Amidst the “thump, thump, thump” of fighting, the courtyard door swung open.

Entering was Alan, his face a tableau of concern.

“Alan, perfect timing! I just got some barbecue; was waiting for you,” Coral announced enthusiastically, waving a large, bone-in piece of meat to beckon Alan over.

Alan, deeply preoccupied, initially wanted to decline. However, he had committed to providing meals the previous day and had no legitimate reason to renege now.

With a resigned sigh, he picked up the meat and seated himself beside the campfire.

But today, Alan was clearly off his game; not once did he successfully unleash the Sweet Fire and Butter Breeze spells that are essential for perfect grilling.

Observing Alan’s distracted demeanor, Coral couldn’t help but inquire, “Still no news of your sister?”

Having been privy to Alan’s family matters, Coral knew that Alan was weighed down with worries about his missing sister.

“I managed to get in touch with Grandfather through the Signal Tower today and got some information. Unfortunately… it’s not good news,” Alan briefly updated.

“Wait, your sister went missing in Sky Mechanical City?” Coral asked, puzzled. “With all those Magic Eyes hovering in the sky outside, shouldn’t they have seen something?”

“Glen is currently helping me track down my sister through the Magic Eyes… Ah, darn it, I’ve overcooked the meat!” Alan spoke halfway and then noticed that the meat on the campfire was emitting a burnt aroma.

However, this charred smell wasn’t unpleasant; it still carried a subtly sweet, smoky fragrance.

Nonetheless, Alan doggedly tossed the overcooked meat, insisting it wasn’t fit for consumption. Coral secretly tore off a small piece to taste and found it still delicious.

But a gourmet wizard has his own pride; in the dishes he prepares, he allows for no imperfections.

Alan started grilling the meat again, this time with undivided attention and sincere effort.

Not wanting to disturb Alan any further, Coral turned to Angel and asked, “By the way, when did Alan’s sister go missing?”

“During the Month of Gentle Rain.”

“Oh, around that time… I recall I had already arrived at Sky Mechanical City. Do you know what Alan’s sister looks like? Perhaps, I’ve seen her.”

Alan continued to focus intently on grilling, but he must have heard Coral’s inquiry. Since he didn’t intervene, Angel casually snapped his fingers.

Before Coral, an illusion of Alana appeared immediately.

“I thought she would also be overweight. Surprisingly, she’s fair-skinned, beautiful, and has a very attractive figure. Most importantly, she’s also quite tall… I don’t like it,” mumbled Coral, who always maintained a youthful appearance, with a hint of envy.

“Have you seen her?” Angel asked.

Coral shook her head, “As far as I can remember, I don’t think I’ve ever seen her.”

Upon hearing this, Alan, who had been all ears, seemed disheartened and his ears drooped.

Angel initially planned to dispel the illusion. However, at that moment, a voice emanated from the second floor, saying, “This woman, I think I’ve seen her before.”

Alan instantly looked up toward the second floor.

The one speaking was Shalem. He was basking in the sun on the balcony while holding a black tome. He had actually overheard the entire conversation in the courtyard but hadn’t paid it much attention since he wasn’t well-acquainted with Alan. However, catching a glimpse of the illusion Angel had created brought to mind a fragment of Shalem’s memory.

“You… Are you sure you’ve seen my sister? Where did you see her?” Alan couldn’t help but inquire.

Coral was also curious, asking Shalem, “Is what you’re saying true?”

Shalem took a moment to confirm his memory and nodded, “It should be her. I saw her on my way to Sky Mechanical City.”

“On your way to Sky Mechanical City? So you didn’t see her in the city?” Alan questioned, puzzled.

Shalem nodded with certainty, “I was still a few dozen miles away from Sky Mechanical City. I could barely make out the skyline of the city in the distance. I saw a female apprentice flying from the direction of Sky Mechanical City, and she is the one in the illusion.”

“What was her situation like at the time? Did she mention where she was going? And who was she with?” Alan fired off a barrage of questions like a gatling gun.

“How would I know where she was going? I don’t even know her,” Shalem responded, clearly vexed. “I merely brushed past her. I didn’t pay attention to where she was heading. But judging by her expression, there was nothing odd about her; she even looked fairly relaxed. Also, she was alone.”

Pausing for a moment, Shalem added the last piece of information, “The timing was in the early days of the Month of Gentle Rain.”

That was roughly a month and a half ago.

Coincidentally, that was when Alana had gone missing.

“If Shalem saw Alana at that time, that would mean she didn’t actually go missing in Sky Mechanical City. Could she have gone outside the city? But why would she venture there?” Angel pondered, his brows furrowed.

If Alana has gone missing in Sky Mechanical City, Glen might still have a way to Trace her whereabouts. However, according to Shalem’s words, Alana has left Sky Mechanical City.

If she never returns from this point on… the world is a vast place, who knows where Alana has gone?

At this moment, Alan is quite at a loss, to the extent that even the grilled meat in his hand has turned black without him noticing.

Angel pondered for a moment and said, “As I mentioned earlier, if you really can’t find her, once I return to the Savage Grottoes, I’ll have my friend help you with a prophecy.”

Right now, that’s all Alan can hope for. He showed a grateful expression to Angel, saying, “In that case, I appreciate——”

Before he could finish his sentence, Alan noticed that his communication device suddenly lit up.

After reading the message, a glimmer of light flashed in his eyes. “Glen says he has some news on his end. I’m going over to check it out now.”

Alan hastily stood up, thanked Angel and Shalem once again, and then said to Coral, “The grilled meat will have to wait until I come back.”

Understanding Alan’s urgency, Coral nodded in agreement.

Alan immediately walked briskly toward the exit of Bliss Pavilion.

Watching Alan’s retreating figure, Coral whispered softly, “I hope his sister is still in Sky Mechanical City.”

If she really has left the city, finding her would be a needle in a haystack.

Half an hour later, Gloria emerged from the inner room, accompanied by Sunisha.

“Are you awake?” Angel inquired.

“The living ingredient status from Carvelyn has already vanished; a few more days of rest will result in a full recovery,” Gloria nodded and continued, “I’ll take my leave now and go check on Azaz.”

Just as Gloria was about to depart, Sunisha suddenly spoke up, “Lady Gloria, now that Carvelyn has recovered, I will fulfill my prior obligation and pay the price. What would you like me to do?”

Gloria gave her a brief glance, “We can discuss that later, just keep it in mind.”

With that, Gloria paid no further heed to Sunisha, turning around and leaving the Bliss Pavilion.
