“This is… Cassone?” Onassis looked at the immense illusion behind Trom with a flash of curious exploration in his eyes.
“Yes, it is Cassone, and also my dear friend.” Grateful for Onassis’s previous gentlemanly and fair conduct in the contest, Trom generously responded.
Trom took a leisurely step forward, and once again, the icy edges gathered like a rain of blades. Simultaneously, a voice filled with grand implications emanated from Trom’s mouth, “I have not yet mastered its full power, so be wary.”
No sooner had his words fallen than a loud boom resonated, and Trom’s figure suddenly vanished.
While the audience was still puzzled, searching for any trace of Trom, Onassis was suddenly thrust from the hovering low altitude into the sea, causing a splash rising over ten meters high.
Unbeknownst to all, Trom had somehow appeared behind Onassis.
This was nothing short of——Instantaneous Movement!
After Onassis was thrust to the ocean floor, Trom’s figure disappeared once more. In a mere second or two, another splash ensued, and Onassis was thrust by Trom directly from the water up into the sky!
As Onassis lost control of his body, which continued to rise, Trom appeared next to him again with the same eerie speed that resembled “instantaneous movement.”
The phantom behind Trom let out a long howl to the heavens. He brandished all four hooves and, with tremendous force, stomped on Onassis’s chest. Onassis was sent plummeting back towards the ocean.
This time, everyone clearly saw that the golden glow around Onassis began to fade, growing thinner, and even showing signs of instability.
For the next minute, the arena became a stage entirely for Trom’s performance.
Each of his moves was without any showiness, but instead, he would directly appear beside Onassis. Within a short period, not only did he showcase instantaneous movement effects, but he also left numerous afterimages in the air, on the sea surface, and underwater, giving the illusion of multiple clones.
Under Trom’s formidable attack, the entire marine environment underwent drastic changes. Water splashed chaotically everywhere, an icy domain continuously spread, shards of ice appeared sharp as knives, and dense clouds loomed menacingly.
Onassis, on the other hand, seemed like a ragdoll, continuously taking hits. The golden light surrounding him grew dimmer.
The spectators, due to this exciting counter-attack, became increasingly enthralled!
Then, with a “snap,” the golden light encircling Onassis vanished completely. Everyone understood clearly——
Onassis’s ultimate defense had been shattered.
This also implied that Trom’s fierce onslaught had surpassed Onassis’s endurance limit, reaching the genuine wizard level!
“Is this the power of the Illusionary Spirit Moose?” There were originally many in the audience who doubted Trom’s capability, especially since Trom’s previous battles had been quite peculiar. The Shadowflame Witch had conceded to him, and the Demon Gourmet had suddenly weakened mid-battle. These curious signs had caused many to label Trom as merely ‘lucky.’
But now, as Trom unleashed a wizard level attack, everyone fell silent.
What they were witnessing couldn’t be faked. Even if Trom’s prior matches were due to luck, it was undeniable that Trom’s strength could place him at the pinnacle amongst top apprentices!
Upon this realization, the crowd couldn’t help but marvel and reflect. This Novastar Competition had revealed many dark horses that had never been seen before, including the current finalists. Whether it was the Illusionary Spirit Moose or the Philosopher, neither were apprentices known from before.
The sudden appearance of a dark horse left people in a daze. However, similarly, the presence of so many of these unprecedented dark horses signifies that the entire Wizarding World of the Southern Region is in a phase of ascension.
Perhaps, these dark horses may, in the future, become great wizards renowned across the universe.
To be born in the same era as them might indeed be a stroke of fortune.
The competition continued. After Onassis’s defensive light shield was shattered, Trom’s offensive didn’t halt but rather launched into a ferocious combo.
It was accompanied by the endless power of frost, as well as an offensive force surpassing that of wizards.
While enduring such a fierce assault, Onassis’s complexion turned increasingly pale, and numerous wounds began to bleed on his body.
With a sound like thunder, Onassis was slammed from the sky towards the ocean. The spot where he plummeted was precisely the only surviving reef.
When he crashed onto the reef, it disintegrated entirely into dust, and the ice chunks nearby also shattered.
Accompanied by a screeching sound that could pierce one’s ears, the frozen ocean began to crack layer by layer, extending outwards for several meters.
Countless fragments of ice scattered about. Amid the piercing white light, there was an ethereal beauty, reminiscent of petals falling in a fantastical manner.
At this moment, Trom almost resembled a moose, with white mist curling around his hooves, looking as if he was standing atop clouds, looking condescendingly down at Onassis.
Onassis’s clothes were tattered and torn. One could clearly see bruises all over his body. A significant amount of blood oozed out of his eyes, ears, mouth, and nose, presenting a picture of utter tragedy.
The audience, upon witnessing this scene, felt as though the heavy weight on their hearts had somewhat lifted.
In their eyes, the victor was evident.
Trom seemed to believe so too, and he let out a long breath that materialized as white vapor, remarking, “It’s over, isn’t it?”
As Trom pondered, the arena underwent yet another transformation.
The previously shattered ice allowed the frozen ocean to surge once again. Amidst the tumultuous waves and roaring waters, a massive vortex abruptly materialized.
At first, the vortex spanned only a few meters, but in the blink of an eye, it expanded to over ten, twenty meters, eventually reaching fifty.
Simultaneously, a familiar roar emanated from the vortex’s epicenter.
Upon hearing this roar, both the spectators outside the arena and the competitors on-site were struck dumbfounded. A name simultaneously surfaced in their minds: Sea Troll!
From the judges’ panel, Farina whispered, “To be named the Sea of the Frenzied Trolls, how could there be only two trolls? However, the emergence of this troll is truly an unforeseen turn of events.”
Angel nodded in agreement, noting, “It seems Trom has yet to identify the object sealing this troll.”
“One must ponder; how could the Sea of the Frenzied Trolls inexplicably have just two reefs exposed above the water? Whenever something is off, there’s usually a twist beneath.”
In truth, almost all the formal wizards on the judges’ panel had noticed this detail from the onset. Below their battling ground lay a sealed troll, and the objects sealing this troll were the two corresponding reefs on the sea’s surface.
Had they discerned this earlier and refrained from shattering the reefs, the troll would have remained dormant until the end of the match.
But who could’ve foreseen Trom persistently shattering both reefs? As a result, they now bear the consequences of awakening the troll.
Perhaps, for them, this was an unforeseen calamity.
Yet, such unpredictability is the charm of the Boundless Arena. While it offers conveniences, it’s also rife with dangers and risks.
