Upon hearing Melanctha’s recount, Hydra slightly furrowed his brow, pondering, “Suppressing the inner demon? Let me think.”
While Hydra was deep in thought, Melanctha overheard the surrounding individuals engaged in hushed conversations.
“Could it be that an alternate personality has taken control of the body, causing the primary persona to fall into a deep slumber?” someone mused.
“Perhaps that’s truly the case,” others whispered amongst themselves, “We had previously thought that having dual personalities could provide advantages on a wizard’s journey. However, we overlooked the challenge of controlling the secondary persona, and how easily it could overpower the primary one.”
“I believe it’s too early to jump to conclusions,” another remarked, “We can’t be certain of the current state of Onassis’s primary and secondary personas. Who knows, perhaps his present state is the primary one, and the sleeping one is the secondary?”
“No matter which persona — primary or secondary — Onassis currently embodies, we must ensure that the rational one emerges for the upcoming ceremony, not the crazed, deranged one we see now.”
Melanctha felt a wave of confusion wash over her, wondering about these mentions of primary and secondary personalities. They were insinuating that Onassis had a dual personality? Hadn’t he mentioned his inner demon? Could this inner demon be referring to the secondary personality?
Upon reflecting, Melanctha thought that if it indeed were a case of dual personalities, it would make sense. But why was everyone in the judgment room so convinced it was dual personalities?
Melanctha was on the verge of inquiring when Hydra snapped out of his contemplation. A subtle illusion of a gigantic serpent appeared behind Hydra, symbolizing the “Serpent of the Tree” sect he revered.
The manifestation of the serpent illusion indicated that while Hydra appeared to be in deep thought, he was actually engaging in some form of prophecy.
With anticipation, Melanctha looked towards Hydra, hoping he would provide a solution to their predicament.
Hydra pondered for a moment and said, “The Serpent in the Tree didn’t reveal the answer to me. However, destiny doesn’t dictate everything; I can accompany you to the past to see.”
A gleam of delight flashed in Melanctha’s eyes, and she let out a sigh of relief.
Since Hydra had agreed, he followed Melanctha to leave. As Hydra passed by Angel, he suddenly paused because his leftmost head twitched.
It was the first time that Hydra’s left head had shown any movement.
Hydra reflected deeply for a moment, opened the eyes of his central head, and looked towards Angel, suggesting, “Super Dimensional Wizard, how about joining us?”
Hydra’s sudden invitation startled everyone. They were baffled as to why he suddenly included Angel, especially Melanctha. She glanced back and forth between Hydra and Angel, her eyes filled with deep confusion.
“Why include me?” Angel directly inquired.
Hydra’s vertical pupils remained unrippled, and he calmly replied, “After all, it was the Super Dimensional Wizard who first proposed the theory of dual personalities. Perhaps you might be of assistance concerning Onassis’s condition.”
Angel was the one who proposed dual personalities? Melanctha looked at Angel in surprise. Before they even discussed the situation in the Medical Room, Angel had already brought up dual personalities? What was going on?
“I’ve merely read some irrelevant books,” Angel responded.
Hydra retorted, “All knowledge is valuable. Furthermore, I believe that perhaps you understand Onassis even better than we do.”
While Angel was about to add something, Melanctha suddenly interjected, “It’s just a visit, there shouldn’t be any harm, right? In fact, anyone present who is curious about Onassis’s condition can come along.”
At this moment, Farina remarked, “It’s timely. I’ve been quite curious about Onassis’s condition too.”
Upon hearing Farina speak, joy flashed across Melanctha’s eyes. She had initially wanted to invite Farina, but being a member of the Research Institute, Farina held a significantly high status. Melanctha couldn’t simply summon her. As for Hydra, due to past acquaintances with him, Melanctha had approached Hydra first.
Now that Farina had expressed interest in visiting, Angel pondered briefly and nodded in agreement.
As Melanctha had pointed out, they were merely going for a visit.
Though Melanctha mentioned that anyone interested could join, only Hydra, Farina, and Angel made their way to the infirmary.
It wasn’t long before they arrived outside the medical room.
Currently, the infirmary’s doors were tightly shut. Members of the medical team, including an injured person known as “Phantom Moose” Trom, were all in the corridor.
After inquiring with the people outside, Melanctha turned and said, “Earlier, we tried to test Onassis’s stress response, and he exhibited an aggressive reaction. To avoid him harming others, we temporarily confined him inside the infirmary.”
“At present, his condition seems to have stabilized.”
While Melanctha was explaining, Angel noticed a young boy with moose-antlered hat leaning against the corridor wall——Trom. The boy’s piercing eyes were fixated on him.
Recalling Queenie’s words from earlier, Angel realized that Trom, too, was an unfortunate soul deceived by their mentor.
With that thought in mind, Angel nodded at Trom as a gesture of acknowledgment.
Trom, upon witnessing Angel’s reaction, seemed quite taken aback. He hesitated for a moment, contemplating approaching. But before he could make a move, Angel had already turned away.
For at that moment, Melanctha opened the door to the medical room.
The medical team remained outside, and Melanctha, followed by her group, filed in one by one.
Trom, watching the figures disappear behind the door, let out a regretful sigh.
Once they entered the medical room, the first thing they heard was a sinister chuckle. The laughter wasn’t unfamiliar — it was the same chilling laugh that Onassis had let out at the final moments of the tournament.
After the laughter, a voice started to incessantly murmur about “shadow and light.”
On the way to the medical room, Melanctha had already learned from Farina that the reason Angel deduced Onassis might have a dual personality was because of this very phrase.
A line that originated from the autobiographical novel —The Journey Road of Day and Night—.
Listening to Onassis’s murmuring, Melanctha couldn’t help but glance at Angel——
Angel had an acute perception, quickly grasping the deeper meanings and the nuances behind the words. Perhaps, just as Hydra mentioned, he understood Onassis better than anyone else.
Although the cramped room was filled with several more people, Onassis didn’t pay any attention to them. He remained in a dark corner, immersed in his own world.
His eyes glowed with a fierce crimson, shining in the darkness like a frenzied vampire bat, radiating an eerie and unnerving ambiance. However, those present were far from ordinary and remained unfazed by the sinister atmosphere.
Melanctha turned her gaze to Hydra, who, with his icy vertical pupils, was intently watching Onassis as if studying something closely.
After a long moment, Hydra pondered and said, “His consciousness and his core self are in perfect harmony; there’s not a hint of discrepancy. This means the speculation of the Super Dimensional Wizard might be spot on.”
Onassis has a dual personality.
Otherwise, it’s inconceivable for one’s consciousness and true self to mesh so harmoniously.
Melanctha then inquired, “Observer, do you have a solution? At the very least, can you awaken his dominant personality?”
Not to mention, Onassis, as the champion of the Novastar Competition, has already made a request to Infinite Battle Tower. Moreover, the upcoming coronation award ceremony cannot be delayed. Hence, Onassis needs to regain consciousness promptly.
Hydra contemplated for a while and stated, “The dual personality stems from a self-segmentation of his core consciousness. It’s challenging for outsiders to find a comprehensive remedy. However, if the aim is merely to awaken the dormant personality, there indeed might be a way.”
