The respite always seems fleeting. When Gloria put away the Dream Twins, even though the outside world had transitioned from daytime to dusk, for Shirley and Azaz, who had been bathing in the springs of the illusionary realm, it felt as if only a few minutes had passed.
The evening breeze brushed against Shirley’s slightly reddened skin, bringing a touch of coolness and comfort.
Tidying her tousled hair, Shirley remarked, “Even though I knew it was an illusionary realm, the effects of the hot spring were so lifelike, and the sensation on my skin felt entirely real.”
Most importantly, after soaking in the spring, all the fatigue she had accumulated over the past few days had vanished, and her energy was revitalized.
“What’s real and what’s illusion, who can truly differentiate?” Gloria responded indifferently upon hearing this.
Shirley gazed enviously at the Dream Twins in Gloria’s hands, “I’m genuinely amazed. The illusionary realm is so incredibly real. I even met a pair of sisters bathing in the spring. It felt just like the real world. If only I had such an item.”
Angel pondered for a moment, “If you wish to possess an alchemical illusionary realm like this, I can create one for you. However, the exclusive item we previously discussed would then be considered…”
Before Angel could finish, Shirley hurriedly waved him off, “No need, no need. I was just expressing a sentiment.”
Although the alchemical illusionary realm was enticing, what Shirley anticipated more was the kind of item Angel would create especially for her.
“Enough idle talk. Since we’re all well-rested, let’s get started,” Gloria declared. She then turned her gaze to Toby, who was nestled in Angel’s neck, “How’s he doing? Did he fall asleep after the hot spring bath?”
Angel shook his head, “He’s already begun.”
Upon leaving the Dream Twins, Toby energetically entered the Wilderness of Dreams, preparing for a new round of tribulations.
Gloria took Toby from Angel, sighed with a hint of sorrow, and then walked to the center of the “Passionate Song of Fate” magic formation, placing Toby within it.
“Let’s get started,” Gloria turned to Shirley, who nodded gravely and stepped into the magic formation as well.
As the energy activated, the space covered by the magic formation gradually turned to night, and Shirley’s figure slowly faded from everyone’s sight…
Observing the activated magic formation, Gloria turned to Angel and said, “I estimate that even if Toby triumphs over the Tribulation of Resentment this time, it will likely take half an hour. How about we sit and continue our conversation? I’ve actually had some insights recently while observing Toby’s Dream Entry. Would you like to hear?”
Angel turned to look at Gloria without speaking.
Gloria sat down and absentmindedly stroked the nearby cloud-corded tree. Its lush branches shimmered with light, and for the first time, the tree that never bore fruit bore a cluster of elliptical fruits.
Using her mental power, Gloria took two of the fruits, placing one in front of Angel and the other in front of herself.
Though called fruits, they resembled drink containers shaped like fruits. Gloria effortlessly opened one and inserted a straw. The rich fruit aroma with a hint of alcohol spread in her mouth. “I’ve noticed that when Toby enters a dream, he’s not genuinely asleep. Every time he does, a tiny down feather around his neck emits a peculiar energy.”
“I believe that this feather is the reason for its Dream Entry,” Gloria glanced at Angel with a probing look. “Speaking of which, you seem to love crafting feathers for Toby. The snowy feather for spatial storage, the dark feather for concealment. What kind of feather have you crafted this time?”
By the time Gloria discovered this login device shaped like a feather, the tales Angel had previously spun about lucid dreaming had been unravel.
However, Angel didn’t seem to mind. Even without using this feather to verify, Gloria had long known that he was lying.
Angel sat opposite Gloria and uncovered the fruit in his hand. The liquid contained within the fruit was not the same as Gloria’s burgundy-colored liquid but was a thick white. There was no smell to it, but when Angel took a sip, a sweet taste of milk spread in his mouth.
“Birth Spell?” Angel whispered.
Turning the cloud-corded tree into a beverage-bearing fruit tree, the only thing Angel could think of was the Birth Spell that Gloria had developed on Phantom Island.
“Yes, the Birth Spell,” Gloria nodded, and then with a wink of her right eye, whispered to Angel in a manner that only he could hear, “To preserve your image, I specifically removed the milk flavor, ensuring that no one else would detect it.”
Angel, without showing any change in expression, took a sip and wiped away the white froth from his lips. “Tastes good.”
After a brief pause, Angel didn’t continue to discuss the beverage fruit but changed the subject: “Feather of Dreams.”
Gloria paused for a moment. “You mean, the feather that induces dreams is called the ‘Feather of Dreams’?”
Angel nodded, “Yes.”
“Why would you specifically craft such a feather?” Gloria seemingly asked casually with a smile, but in reality, she was trying to gauge the extent of Angel’s response.
“You’ve guessed it, haven’t you? It’s purely for inducing dreams.”
Gloria looked deeply into Angel’s eyes. From his expression, she could tell that this was probably all he would reveal. As before, he was hiding something, unwilling to share.
Gloria pondered, “When it comes to entering dreams, there must be a target, right? During this period, you’ve been practicing alchemy in the lab. Toby’s Dream Entry target certainly wasn’t you. As for others, I’m somewhat familiar with Toby’s circle of acquaintances, and there don’t seem to be other dreams for him to enter. Entering one’s own dream is even more improbable, as the very essence of Dream Entry is designed for intruding into others’ dreams.”
“Whose dream would it enter, then?” Gloria closely observed Angel, speculating, “Or is it simply venturing into… the Dream Realm?”
Angel’s expression remained unchanged. Undeterred, Gloria continued to share her conjectures, “I did some research. The vastness of the Dream Realm is beyond imagination, and it’s constantly evolving. Venturing into it, one cannot possibly remain stationary.”
“But according to Toby, it seems that every time he’s in the same place, battling against the Tribulation of Resentment. How could this be? Could there possibly be a fixed, unchanging place within the Dream Realm?”
“A place that also possesses the characteristics of lucid dreaming, allowing Toby to simulate the Tribulation of Resentment for confrontation?”
“And furthermore, a place connected to you, accessible through… the Feather of Dreams?” Gloria smirked, “Am I right?”
With every statement from Gloria, Angel’s eyelids twitched slightly. As Gloria reached her final conclusion, Angel took a small, relieving breath.
Most of what Gloria said was largely accurate, but she was probably misled from the beginning by Angel’s mention of “lucid dreaming,” still believing that Toby’s battles with the Tribulation of Resentment were due to lucid dreams.
However, although her guess about lucid dreaming wasn’t spot on, her other notions were not far from the truth.
After some thought, Angel looked at Gloria, “Do you truly wish to know the reality?”
“I merely want to know the truth.”
From Gloria’s words, it was evident that she wasn’t completely pressuring Angel for an answer. There’s a distinction between “needing” and “wanting.”
Angel paused for a moment, “Soon, you will know the truth. But for now, the time is not right.”
