Chapter 1792 Muse's Emergence <TOC> Chapter 1794 Shooting the Arrow First, Then Painting the Target

Even Muse wasn’t certain about it. So, who would?
Amidst the collective bewilderment, Muse didn’t offer any answers. Instead, he procured his usual staff and gently tapped the floor with it.
With a deep, thunderous rumbling followed by the clicking sound of rotating gears, a medium-sized mechanical device gradually unveiled itself before everyone’s eyes.
“This is…”
Horus seemed to recognize the device. Just as he was about to identify it, a soft groan interrupted him.
It was from Melanctha, who had previously fainted. She was now waking up, rubbing her groggy forehead while groaning and sitting up. Coincidentally, upon sitting up, she directly faced a metallic long table. And on that table at this very moment was… Rosen’s head.
Melanctha stared blankly at Rosen’s head. Flashbacks constantly darted across her mind, and the horrifying imagery made her tremble uncontrollably.
Seeing Melanctha seemingly trapped in her terrifying thoughts once more, Rosen opened his eyes and whispered, “Melanctha.”
Melanctha’s face, which was initially marked by shock, hadn’t even had the time to transition into joy upon hearing Rosen’s voice.
Observing Melanctha, who usually never displayed her emotions openly, Rosen softly assured her: “Don’t worry; I’m not dying yet.”
On one side, Melanctha and Rosen were engaged in a hushed conversation. On the other, Angel and the others were silently observing Muse’s actions.
It was an intricate piece of machinery, resembling the shell of a beetle, but with a distinct “horn” on top. As Muse manipulated it, this singular horn began to emit a faint light.
“What is this contraption?” Gloria whispered, seeking confirmation from Angel beside her.
Angel, in truth, was seeing it for the first time as well. However, some mechanical components inside… resembled a signal tower?
Antonio confirmed Angel’s speculation, “It’s a miniature signal tower.”
Five decades ago, Sky Mechanical City developed a long-range communication signal tower, slightly bridging the information exchange gap of the Southern Region. However, the construction of such a tower was exceedingly costly. Some wizard families, even after exhausting their fortunes, couldn’t afford to erect one. As a result, they didn’t become widespread. Only mid-to-large scale wizard organizations could afford to build these towers.
According to Antonio, signal towers were typically fixed structures. Muse, however, found this rather inconvenient. If one could carry it around, it would be much more practical.
Thus, the birth of the mini signal tower.
Sure, it’s more convenient, but the cost of the miniature version is even higher, making it non-viable for widespread use. Even Muse struggled to afford one after creating it.
If Muse couldn’t bear the cost, it goes without saying for others.
Antonio mused, “To have a portable tool, capable of long-distance communication without a hefty price tag, I wonder when such a dream will be realized.”
Antonio’s lament made Angel think of radios. If they could harness the power of wireless communication, it would solve the problem. Regrettably, the Wizarding World couldn’t replicate the glory of radios. Perhaps the presence of raw magical power interfered with electromagnetic fields, or maybe there were other reasons at play.
For technology from one civilization to break the constraints of another, there are countless hurdles to overcome. At least, for now, it’s not feasible.
“It might be realized sooner than we think,” Sanders suddenly interjected.
Upon hearing Sanders’s remark, everyone couldn’t help but turn their gaze towards him, even Muse, who was operating the mini signal tower, had his attention drawn.
Sanders isn’t an alchemist, but the certainty in his voice seems evident. Could it be that he has witnessed a similar spell or device in the past?
Yet, the number of individuals who could have demonstrated a similar spell or device to Sanders appears to be few. At the moment, only one person stands on the stage.
“Angel, have you perhaps discovered a method to break through the communication barrier?” Muse’s eyes shimmer with anticipation as she looks towards Angel.
Angel realizes that what Sanders is referring to is the utilization of the Wilderness of Dreams to facilitate long-distance exchanges of information.
Observing the inquisitiveness in Muse’s eyes, Angel contemplates before responding, “I have had some ideas recently. Instead of the usual method, I’m approaching the problem from a different angle, but there are still some challenges that I haven’t been able to overcome.”
In other words, it’s still in the research phase. Muse, understanding this, nods and comments, “If you need any assistance, feel free to contact me. I eagerly await the results of your research.”
Antonio chimes in at this point, saying, “If the first accomplishment Lord Pat publicizes from the Research Institute is the solution to the communication barrier, I believe it would create a significant stir.”
Muse casually adds, “Who knows? Perhaps they might even set up a display for you on the top floor of the Research Institute.”
Angel simply smiles in response, choosing not to say anything further.
As the conversation momentarily ceases, Muse’s mini signal tower finally receives a message.
A light screen appears before everyone.
All are curious, their eyes fixed on the screen, wondering who Muse is contacting and who might be familiar with the Mysterious Object.
Amidst the flickering halo of light, a figure slowly materializes on the screen.
It’s a regal lady, seated serenely in a pristine white hall, holding a cup of steaming tea.
With her white hair and icy gaze, she exudes an aura of cold elegance.
Upon seeing this person’s visage, a name simultaneously flashes across everyone’s minds: The Twilight Queen!
The individual Muse had reached out to was none other than Isabelle, who only returned to Black Castle after a millennium!
At this moment, Angel had a sudden epiphany. It turned out that the person Muse was speaking of was Isabelle. Although Isabelle was merely a lingering spirit inhabiting a body, her memories remained intact. She had spent a significant amount of time traveling within the Source World.
Angel vividly remembered that the Mysterious Soul Whisper he had obtained also came from Isabelle during her travels in the Source World, through a certain Mysterious Object.
The Bud itself originated from the Source World, so it was entirely plausible that Isabelle might be privy to some mysterious items from there.
Lifting her gaze to the images on the screen, Isabelle expressed mild surprise at the multitude of faces staring back, among whom were several very familiar figures.
Rather than immediately asking Muse about the purpose of this contact, Isabelle first nodded slightly in Angel’s and Sanders’ direction, before finally focusing her attention on Muse.
“I wonder, Director Muse, what matter do you seek to discuss with me?”
Without any hesitation, Muse swiftly narrated the affairs concerning the “arrow.” For the sake of precision, he even had Angel recreate, using illusion magic, the events that transpired previously in Sky Mechanical City.
Upon hearing the account, a hint of realization seemed to dawn on Isabelle, and she lapsed into contemplation.
“Based solely on the illusion you’ve presented, I can’t discern any specific details. However, speaking of Mysterious Objects related to arrows, I have indeed heard of something that bears similarities to what you’ve described.”
Isabelle’s statement brought a glimmer of hope to everyone’s eyes.
“While I was journeying through the Source World, I inadvertently learned of an organization named the ‘Seventy-Seven Red Socks Squad,’ which had come into possession of a certain Mysterious Object.”
“This mysterious item is called ‘Hotep’s Wrath,’ also known as——”
“Arrow of the Vanquished.”
