A faint, elegant fragrance wafted into Popoca’s nostrils.

Fragrance? Where is this scent coming from?

Popoca, puzzled, opened his eyes, and in that moment, light entered his vision, reflecting a deep blue expanse in his light brown eyes.

Supporting himself with his hands, Popoca stood up.

He found himself standing on a balcony. The railing was covered with green vines, blooming with small, pale purple flowers, the source of the fragrance.

Popoca, still puzzled, raised his head to look beyond the railing, where he saw layers of buildings.

Tall and short, their shadows shifting and changing.

It was like a city… No, it was a city!

Where was this place? What city was this? And why was he here?

Most importantly, Popoca looked down at his own body, unharmed, not even a crack in his skin. His hands and feet were normal, without any protruding lumps or oozing green fluid, as if he had returned to the time before his mutation.

Touching his face, Popoca felt a smoothness both strange and familiar. Strange, because the tumors that had accompanied him for half a year were all gone; familiar, because he seemed to have truly returned to his past appearance.

“What in the world is happening?” Popoca wondered, unable to comprehend how he once again had a body, and moreover, an improved one?

Popoca carefully recalled what had happened before, but after scouring his memory, he couldn’t find any clues. He only remembered his consciousness drifting from his soul and then doing everything possible to shrink his spiritual light to the smallest extent. Through the only gap, he escaped the encirclement of the true name imprint and fled the vortex passage.

After emerging from the vortex passage, he encountered a light gate, seemingly leading to a long corridor.

At that time, Popoca didn’t know what lay beyond the light gate or what he should do next.

Then, he turned to glance at the dark, profound vortex passage behind him.

He saw his own lifeless soul continuously falling, eventually submerging into the darkness. As his soul merged with the darkness, he vaguely saw a colossal eye, capable of encompassing all the darkness, slowly opening. The eye, devoid of any emotion, cold as a mountain deity, gazed down upon the world from its lofty position.

Seeing this eye, Popoca’s somewhat chaotic thoughts seemed to freeze for a moment.

He remembered, the owner of this eye was not just “like a deity,” but a true deity! It was one of the most powerful Demon Gods of the Abyss, the Profound Lord!

When Popoca had made a pact with the Profound Lord, he had seen similar eyes. The shock reached deep into his soul, a memory he never forgot.

At this moment, Popoca realized that the vortex passage indeed led to the Domain of the Profound Lord.

However, what puzzled Popoca was that after the Profound Lord opened his eyes, there seemed to be a flicker of incredulity in his cold gaze.

What could cause such a mighty being as the Profound Lord to feel doubt?

Popoca’s confusion was soon resolved, as in the reflection of that eye, he saw himself.

To precisely articulate, it’s the sight of one’s own soul, devoid of divine essence.

Is the Profound Lord perplexed by his own soul? Popoca concluded this, finding it somewhat incredible. Even a high and mighty Demon God experiences doubt? Moreover, what is He pondering over?

As Popoca’s questions kept emerging, that eye seemed to notice something, gradually lifting its gaze. His eyes, as if transcending time and space, seemed to peer out from that vortex passage.

An unprecedented omen of danger enveloped Popoca. He had a premonition in his heart, a firm belief that he must not let the Profound Lord see his last remaining spiritual light.

Thinking this, Popoca, without any hesitation, turned and dove into the gateway of light.

After Popoca entered the gateway, it immediately closed and vanished. The eye in the depths of the vortex passage, in the end, only caught a glimpse of some lingering faint light, but discovered nothing else.

On the other side, after Popoca entered the gateway, he walked through a dim corridor and then reached the exit.

When he emerged from the exit, he fell into a brief unconsciousness, waking up to find himself lying on this balcony.

Popoca carefully savored this segment of memory, still unclear about his current location, or even if this place had any connection to the Profound Lord. But he vaguely remembered entering from the gateway of light, while the Profound Lord was at the other end of the vortex passage. Perhaps unrelated to the Profound Lord? Was he fortunate to have escaped? Yet, he remembered his soul seemed to have still fallen into the hands of the Profound Lord.

What peculiar twist occurred in this scenario, and where did that gateway of light originate from? Popoca only felt his mind crowded with various questions, yet unable to find answers.

“Are you a creep?” Amidst Popoca’s frustration, a disdainful and crisp voice came from behind him.

Popoca turned around and saw, on the previously empty balcony, a little girl who had appeared seemingly out of nowhere.

She had a delicate and beautiful face with very pale skin, which, along with her blood-red dress and cold gaze, made her resemble a malevolent ghost from folk tales.

However, in the sunlight, one could see her shadow on the ground. Clearly, she was not a ghost, but a human.

Yet, this human girl was looking at him with a scornful gaze.

“Huh?” Popoca uttered in confusion. His thoughts were muddled, uncertain whether he was perplexed by the girl’s mockery or her mysterious origins.

“I’m saying you’re kind of creepy, constantly touching your own body. Look, you’re still touching your face,” Sunny said with a roll of her eyes. “Are you a narcissist?”

Only then did Popoca realize that his fingertips were still caressing his smooth face. He might not have noticed it, but to others… it indeed seemed a bit narcissistic. Popoca quickly lowered his hand, but had to admit, his skin was indeed very smooth.

“I’m not a narcissist, it’s just… some strange changes in my body,” Popoca said, then flashed what he thought was a friendly smile at the girl across from him. “Little girl, can I ask you a few questions?”

Sunny’s look of disdain intensified. “Don’t smile, you look even creepier when you do.”

Popoca was stunned. Was his smile really that unattractive? He remembered being quite handsome in the past, appealing to both boys and girls in his age group.

Could it be that his appearance hadn’t fully recovered? Perhaps the bumps on his skin were gone, making it smooth to the touch, but he still looked alien?

Unfortunately, it seemed a significant part of his mental space was shattered. Otherwise, he could have used his mental power to see what he currently looked like.

Wait, that’s not right. If his mental space were shattered, how could his thought processes still operate so clearly?

“Don’t call me a little girl, my name is Sunny,” Sunny’s voice interrupted Popoca’s thoughts.

Sunny glanced at Popoca: “I know you have a lot of questions, but I don’t feel like answering them. As A Newcomer, what you need to do now is follow me to Azure Tower to register your identity.”

Newcomer? Azure Tower? What is this place? Popoca was puzzled, but given Sunny’s earlier response, it seemed not the time to ask.

“Okay, I’ll go with you to that… Azure Tower,” Popoca paused: “By the way, I forgot to introduce myself earlier, my name is Popoca.”

Sunny, who had already turned to lead this somewhat peculiar newcomer to Azure Tower for resident registration, stopped abruptly upon hearing Popoca’s name.

Sunny turned back, frowning: “You’re Popoca?”

Popoca: “Yes, I’m Popoca. Do you know me?”

A flash of realization crossed Sunny’s face: “So it’s you. Then you don’t need to register. Your identity has already been registered. Now, come with me to meet Mentor.”

“Mentor?”

“Yes, Mentor Jon. He will tell you everything you want to know.”
