“Your bird seems to be sleeping very deeply,” Rhine remarked, his gaze drifting toward a bookshelf near them. On the empty shelf, there was a miniature wooden bed adorned with pink lace bed curtains. Despite the veil obscuring the view, Rhine could still make out the peculiar little seabird lying on the bed; Angel’s bird——Toby.
Previously, when they had arrived in the study, the small bed was placed on the desk. Upon entering, Angel had promptly moved it to the shelf, suggesting he wanted to prevent Toby from disturbing them.
However, Rhine discerned from Angel’s tone that he was probably more concerned about them disturbing Toby.
Initially, Rhine hadn’t paid much attention to Toby, but as they had spoken for quite a while, without any concealment, and even employed some spells earlier causing energy fluctuations to spread throughout the room, the bird remained undisturbed, which piqued Rhine’s curiosity.
“It’s merely indulging in the woven dreams, not wishing to awaken,” Angel explained.
“Oh?” Rhine seemed to realize something, “You mean… it’s under the influence of dream-related magic?”
“Yes.” Angel nodded. The Wilderness of Dreams should somewhat relate to dream-related magic, even if just marginally.
“Speaking of which, I heard that you’ve also been practicing the Dream Entry spell recently, Sanders. How come both mentor and apprentice have ventured into dream-related studies?” Rhine inquired curiously, not overthinking it but genuinely intrigued.
“Angel proposed some research topics about illusions and dreams, which I found quite interesting. So, I’ve also joined the research on this topic,” Sanders simply attributed his learning of dream-related spells to Angel’s research project. Although this explanation wasn’t entirely accurate, it wasn’t far from the truth either.
“The topic of illusions and dreams? I’ve heard you mention it before, and I’ve given it some thought myself. Illusions and dreams are often linked together, and perhaps the combination of illusionary and dream-based magic could indeed spark some unique insights.” Rhine, though not part of the illusion-dream system, affirmed this from his perspective.
Pausing for a moment, Rhine curiously asked, “What exactly are you researching?”
“There’s no rush to disclose it until we have a rough idea of the outcome,” Sanders replied, glancing at Angel from the corner of his eye. “Besides, I believe that day won’t be far off.”
Hearing this, Rhine didn’t press further and shifted the conversation to other topics.
As they chatted, the hands on the clock in the room kept moving, and the sky outside transitioned into a deep, dusky twilight.
“Toby was previously affected by the doom curse, and then…” Angel was discussing Toby with Rhine, but their conversation was abruptly interrupted by a series of ‘thud, thud, thud’ sounds.
The discussion ceased instantly, and their gazes turned toward the side of the study, where a mini signal tower set up by Angel was located.
The signal tower’s sound device was repeatedly making the ‘thud, thud, thud’ noise, indicating someone was attempting to make contact.
They looked at each other before all eyes turned to Angel. Without hesitation, he approached the signal tower and extended his mental power into the machinery to sense for a moment.
“It’s the 18th signal tower, with a layer of magical refraction, probably crossing an adjacent plane… Let me think, the 18th should be…” Angel murmured to himself.
Rhine interjected from the other side, “No need to ponder, it’s from the Crown Star Church’s signal tower.”
Though Rhine didn’t agree to install a signal tower in the Savage Grottoes, he was quite familiar with the signal towers of various wizard organizations, especially those of functionally significant ones like the Crown Star Church.
“It seems that today’s Star Observing exchange has concluded,” Tree Spirit turned to glance at the clock: “Earlier than previous sessions, could it be due to the lack of significant prophecies?”
“Or perhaps the prophecy is too grave, and everyone is eager to conclude. Wasn’t it the same during the Demon Blood Battle in the Dwarf Mound plane?” Rhine Mute suggested.
Sanders didn’t add anything. After all, whatever the situation, they’d find out once they received news from Maya.
Angel quickly connected the dialogue between the two sides and aimed the light screen towards the desk nearby.
When the image appeared on the light screen, the face of the wrinkled Witch Maya, with Totoro standing behind her, came into view. Maya’s expression seemed somber until the Connection was established, her furrowed brows never relaxed.
As everyone saw this scene, their mood involuntarily sank. Does Maya’s demeanor imply that this prophecy will be heavy?
Maya spoke, “Lord Rhine Mute, Tree Spirit…”
“There’s no need for formalities, speak directly to the matter.” Rhine Mute’s gaze was on Maya. He didn’t start by inquiring about Angel or the relics but said, “Your expression seems troubling, did something happen on the Star Observing Day?”
Maya looked back at Totoro behind her, then said, “Nothing went wrong during the Star Observing Day, but I saw something that concerns me.”
“Is it related to the Bud believers?” Rhine Mute’s first thought was of Angel’s safety, as he had tasked Maya with monitoring it during the Star Observing Day.
Maya shook her head: “It’s not about the Bud believers, but it might still be somewhat related to Angel.”
As Maya’s voice fell, everyone’s gaze involuntarily turned to Angel.
Angel’s expression did not change, but ripples were subtly stirring in his heart. He harbored many secrets; what could this matter related to him be?
“What exactly is the matter?” Sanders asked.
“The Vision of Doomsday,” Maya said, “I saw the Vision of Doomsday.”
After her words, Maya did not hesitate to use her spell to display the apocalyptic scenes she witnessed from beginning to end.
Though the projected screen couldn’t transmit three-dimensional images, one could still feel an unprecedented shock from those scenes of the apocalypse.
The earth fissured, life withered!
The Vision of Doomsday, the battle of gods!
After viewing these segments, everyone was stunned by the scene before them. After a long silence, Rhine broke the stillness, saying, “If this is a true event that will happen in the future, it’s beyond our level to influence.”
“Moreover, I doubt this will happen in the Southern Region, as according to some covenants, such a grand battle of gods is unlikely there.”
Rhine’s words brought everyone back from their silence.
Maya said, “Lord Rhine’s judgment is correct, and so said the Lord of Crown Star, he also believes it might not occur in the Southern Region. However, we can’t completely rule out the possibility of it happening there.”
Rhine nodded in agreement; nothing was absolute.
“Regardless of where it might happen, why do you say it’s related to Angel?”
