Actually, up to now, they still don’t understand why, after the Nightmare Plane creatures arrived at the Paramjit Plateau, they didn’t continue to erode deeper areas but instead gathered entirely within this ruin.
Initially, they thought that the Nightmare Plane creatures simply used this ruin as a base, but after occupying it, they did not expand outward, which contradicts the inherent purpose of a base.
Now, Sanders suggests that perhaps the Nightmare Plane creatures don’t intend to use this ruin as a base but to repair some native object within the ruin. Thinking this way, it actually makes sense.
“Regardless of whether what they’re repairing is indeed a native object of the ruin, we can be certain that what the Nightmare Plane creatures want to repair is now definitely within the ruin,” Rhine also spoke up at this time: “What we need to consider now is, what exactly are they repairing? What kind of aftermath will this repaired object cause?”
Tree Spirit sighed: “To know what is being repaired, we probably need to delve deeper into the ruin.”
But it’s difficult to delve deep now, as the ruin is full of terrifying Nightmare Plane creatures. Coupled with the ruin’s own strangeness, nearly everyone who goes in goes missing.
“Or, let’s…” Tree Spirit looked towards Angel: “Let him stay in the ruin for a while, and if he observes Nightmare Plane creatures appearing inside, let him directly sense their emotions.”
Tree Spirit didn’t call Angel by his name because, at this moment, Iron Armor Granny and Wallace were both watching them. Even though Angel’s identity had been mostly guessed at by now, as long as Angel himself hadn’t torn off that outer shell, Tree Spirit wouldn’t actively pierce through his identity.
Tree Spirit’s suggestion is actually feasible. After all, none of them can communicate with the Nightmare Plane creatures, only Angel can.
Relying on the residual emotions from a few days ago, Angel was able to glean important information. If they could let Angel directly sense, perhaps he could perceive even more.
Rhine felt the proposal was good, but it ultimately concerned Angel, who needed to decide for himself.
Without hesitation, Angel readily agreed: “Yes, I can do that.”
Angel was curious about the ruins and not battling creatures from the Nightmare Plane. Sensing emotions was not something he would refuse.
Rhine suggested, “Given your unique situation, don’t stay in the ruins. Live where you should, and if anything happens, I’ll inform you immediately.”
Angel was in a phase of self-reflection and was being watched by the Bud. Staying in the ruins for long could risk exposure. So, Rhine didn’t plan for him to stay there indefinitely.
If Nightmare Plane creatures did appear, Rhine could quickly notify Angel. Rhine had heard that Angel’s first spell position allowed for spatial displacement. The ruins where Angel trained were close by, and with spatial displacement, he should be able to arrive promptly.
“Okay,” Angel nodded, then hesitated before adding, “At the Star Observing Day exchange, Totoro mentioned seeing many Nightmare Plane creatures carrying spatial magic materials towards the core. Could those materials be for repairing something?”
Tree Spirit pondered, “It’s possible. But anything repaired with spatial magic materials would definitely have spatial properties. What could it be?”
No one could answer this question yet, so it was left unresolved. However, everyone had a foreboding feeling. Spatial attributes, whether offensive or functional, were top-rank, and anything valued by Nightmare Plane creatures, possibly even attracting ministerial level beings, was no ordinary item.
Whether the object was for attack or utility, it spelled bad news for them.
In the distance, within another observation pavilion, an elderly lady clad in iron armor slowly picked up a cup of flower tea and took a sip, remarking, “It seems that the issues with the ruins will be hard to resolve in a short time…”
Iron Armor Granny sighed deeply.
Meanwhile, Old Whitehair Wallace, though concerned about the ruins, was more intrigued by the red-haired, laid-back middle-aged man: “Considering how much Lord Rhine has contemplated for him, his identity is self-evident.”
A gleam flashed in Wallace’s eyes as he gazed intently at Angel, his look filled with obscure emotions.
At that moment, within the observation pavilion where Angel was, after a period of silence, Rhine sighed, breaking the quiet: “Since there are no other clues, you might as well go back for now.”
Tree Spirit spoke, “I’ll stay here. After all, he…” Tree Spirit nodded towards Angel’s direction, “I have my avatar with him. I can inform him as soon as there’s any update on the ruins.”
Rhine nodded indifferently, allowing Tree Spirit to inform Angel, undoubtedly a quicker option.
Sanders was also keen to stay and observe the ruins, but his duties to the Puppet Hospital necessitated his departure.
Naturally, Angel followed Sanders to leave. However, the moment Angel stepped out of the pavilion, an unbidden image flashed through his mind.
Angel’s steps faltered momentarily.
As he paused, ripples spread across the water, and the starlight fragmented.
Amidst the radiant illusion, Sanders looked at him puzzled, “What’s wrong?”
“I’m fine,” replied Angel, then turned to look back at the pavilion, just as Rhine and Tree Spirit turned to look his way.
Angel looked towards Rhine: “Lord Rhine, where is the entrance to this ruin?”
Rhine paused for a moment, then quickly understood what Angel meant: “Are you still thinking about it, wanting to see if there’s a map behind the door?”
Angel nodded, showing an embarrassed smile.
Rhine said, “The entrance to the ruins is inside the passage at the center of the Star Pool; it’s actually not far, just a few dozen meters inside. I originally intended to take you to see it, but Sanders saw those shoes. For safety, you better put aside this matter for now.”
Rhine was indifferent because he didn’t believe there would be a map behind the ruins’ entrance.
However, Angel was somewhat persistent: “I think it’s worth a try.”
Everyone turned their attention to Angel, wondering why he suddenly said this.
Angel explained, “When I first stepped onto the Star Pool, an image of a door suddenly flashed through my mind. I don’t know if this is just my imagination or some sort of Premonition, but I personally hope it’s the latter.”
Rhine was silent for a moment, considering if the image in Angel’s mind was indeed a wizard’s prophecy, it was indeed worth a try.
Rhine then said, “I also hope it’s the latter. Trying it out is not a problem. However, there is currently a safety hazard in that passage. Let’s wait a few days; I’ll enter it first to investigate and confirm everything is safe, then I’ll have Tree Spirit notify you.”
