Chapter 2252 Glass Box

Observing the delicately crafted Glass Box before him, Dangros’ eyes erupted with a bright light.

He had personally witnessed how a nondescript glass bead was transformed by Angel into a square glass box adorned with mysterious patterns and beautiful gems… For an elemental creature that had almost never come into contact with human creations, this series of masterful crafting completely overturned his understanding of the world.

“Is it really possible to shape a glass bead as desired just by burning it?” Dangros couldn’t help but look at his own fingers, which could also release flames, wondering if he could achieve the same?

With this thought, Dangros scanned his surroundings and finally fixed his gaze on a large black rock on the scorched earth.

Minutes later, Angel, looking at the red and blue energy flows continuously circulating inside the two glass boxes, revealed a satisfied smile.

Although making these two boxes wasn’t difficult, being able to complete the internal energy environment’s transformation so quickly was quite rare even among wizards proficient in runes.

Angel was quite pleased with his work. Although the appearance was not very beautiful, it was only a temporary place to store the energy bodies for these two elemental creatures, so there was no need for excessive complexity.

Since the energy inside the space has already entered a cyclical state, it is now feasible to attempt inserting them.

Angel thought of this and turned his gaze towards the frog and the raccoon lying unconscious beside him.

“Dangros, move the traveling frog into the box with the red gemstone, and leave the raccoon to me… Dangros?” As Angel spoke, he instinctively looked to the side but did not see Dangros.

He looked around in confusion but couldn’t find him anywhere.

Just as Angel was about to inquire with Lobert, he heard a sound from a distance reminiscent of a muffled cannon’s low rumble.

Although the sound was not loud, it was still quite prominent in the quiet valley.

Filled with curiosity, Angel looked towards the source of the sound and saw dark grey smoke rising near a black rock a few dozen meters away, clearly indicating the source of the sound.

As he was about to use his mental power to probe the situation, he saw Dangros, covered in black ash, staggering out of the smoke.

His pupils were visibly doing a free-floating movement, and although they hadn’t yet formed a spiral, it was evidently not far off.

With his wobbling, staggering figure, he resembled someone who was drunk.

“Dangros?!” Not knowing what had happened and without the time to test the two boxes, Angel activated the Dark Night Flyover beneath his feet, which flickered with a faint light, and he disappeared from his spot, appearing beside Dangros in the blink of an eye.

With the utmost care, Angel used a Magic Hand to steady Dangros, who had stumbled. Then, Angel quickly examined Dangros’ body, noticing its skin appeared terrifyingly covered in black ash, but in reality, it was merely dust without any wounds.

However, Angel didn’t let his guard down. Often, it’s impossible to detect abnormalities in elemental creatures from their appearance alone, requiring internal examination. This is similar to how the traveling frog and raccoon might look normal on the outside, but their internal elemental core could be cracked.

Angel then extended his mental power into Dangros’ body.

Perhaps because Dangros was in a bewildered state, or perhaps because it was familiar with Angel’s aura, it didn’t resist the intrusion of Angel’s mental power.

After half a minute, Angel withdrew his mental power.

Dangros’ elemental core was undamaged, merely drained of some energy. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it should recover soon.

Relieved that Dangros was unharmed, after all, Mr. Magu had entrusted Dangros to his care, and it would be problematic if anything went wrong. Moreover, Angel was counting on Dangros to help him with his younger brother.

With Dangros’ condition stabilized, a new question arose: What exactly had Dangros been doing to end up in such a disheveled state?

Angel turned his gaze toward where the dark gray smoke had been.

By now, the dark gray smoke had almost entirely dissipated, revealing the mess behind the large black rocks.

Angel immediately noticed the black gravel on the ground, some of which were still smoking, and appeared red and deformed from the high temperature.

Connecting the dots with the gravel scattered across the ground and considering the situation with Dangros, he could almost picture the scene in his mind——

Dangros had been hiding behind a large black rock, releasing flames to burn the rock, which eventually exploded, covering him in soot and dirt.

Angel, with a face torn between laughter and tears, picked up a piece of the gravel and shook it.

The remaining traces pretty much confirmed Angel’s speculation.

“What is this for?” Angel wondered aloud. “Playing a game of burning rocks?”

“Although I don’t know what it was trying to do, the fact that it could explode these rocks shows its flames must be incredibly hot,” Angel thought to himself in admiration. Considering that the flames from a previous encounter had caused such massive plumes of black smoke without cracking the black rock, the fact that Dangros could cause it to explode was quite telling.

As Angel reflected on this, he carried Dangros back.

As to why Dangros was burning rocks, Angel couldn’t be bothered to guess. He decided it could wait until Dangros came to his senses to ask.

Upon returning to the vicinity of the glass box, Angel saw Lobert poking his head out, curiously observing the patterns on the box and muttering something under his breath.

“Have you noticed anything?” Angel approached and casually asked.

Lobert’s tail responded, “It seems like there’s elemental energy circulating inside this box, but it’s hard to feel clearly because of the lid.”

“That’s correct, there indeed is elemental energy inside,” Angel said. “Then, have you observed anything else?”

After pondering for a moment, Lobert summoned a Wind Hand and pointed at the patterns on the box, “I feel these patterns are very mysterious. Looking at them for a while makes my eyes dizzy, and I can’t remember the direction of the patterns at all. They are very similar to the patterns on the pure white door that Frost Iseth opened.”

Angel nodded, “Good observation. The door and the patterns on this box both belong to runes. However, these two types of runes are different, and their patterns are worlds apart. Your ability to associate them together shows great talent.”

“Aren’t you curious about the elemental energy inside the box? I’ll open it now so you can sense it,” Angel said, and then opened the box.

As the lid was lifted, Lobert immediately sensed a rich aura of elemental energy.

Inside the box with the blue gem was the aura of pure water, while the box with the red gem contained the aura of fire.

Lobert had only felt such purity of elemental energy in corresponding extreme environments.

The most crucial aspect to note is that although the lid was removed, the degree to which the elemental energies were dissipating was incredibly minimal; they were still circulating within the box. It was as if an invisible force was sealing the power of the elements inside the box.

“This is truly astonishing!” Lobert exclaimed, his eyes sparkling with surprise, “This is my first time…”

Before Lobert could finish his sentence, he was interrupted by a shout.

Turning around, he saw Dangros, who seemed to have just snapped out of his daze on the Magic Hand, cry out “Ah,” in a woozy jump.

“It’s exploding, it’s exploding, I’m going to die! Run for it!” Dangros, still caught up in the memory of the exploding rocks, screamed and ran towards the outside.

However, being in the grip of the Magic Hand, its attempt to dash resulted in it not getting far, but instead, it fell from mid-air.

Moreover, the place where it fell was particularly coincidental.

It happened to fall into a glass box, sadly, the one inlaid with the blue gem.

Upon falling into the box, Dangros was immediately surrounded by a terrifying and dense mist of water vapor.

The intensity of the water energy was so overwhelming that Dangros felt as if he had fallen into the ocean during an Elemental Tide of the Voice of the World.

The flame within was instantly suppressed to its limit by the surrounding water energy.

“Ah, I’ve been captured by the demon of the Marlaya Mountain, who will save me… gurgle gurgle, Mr. Pat, Lord Toby… gurgle, it’s so uncomfortable…” Dangros didn’t even have time to discern his surroundings before he began to shout, but the more he shouted, the more the surrounding water energy rushed into his mouth, giving him the illusion of drowning.

As Dangros flailed his fingers, a pale blue outline of a semi-transparent hand extended towards him, scooping him up into its palm and slowly lifting him out of the box.

Finally managing to catch his breath, Dangros sprawled out, lying on the Magic Hand, gasping for air, seemingly trying to expel the water vapor from his body.

Lobert, who was nearby, looked at Dangros with some concern and asked, “My lord, is he alright?”

Angel: “…He should be fine.”

After all, falling into a water element box, Angel couldn’t guarantee everything was fine. But upon reflection, considering Dangros was fine at the Marlaya Mountain, there probably wouldn’t be any serious problems.

Two minutes later, Dangros’ panting finally calmed down. Only then did he open his eyes, saw the familiar Magic Hand, and Angel, showing a relieved expression: “Ah, I‘ve been rescued!”

Looking at Dangros, who showed a relieved expression, Angel said with annoyance, “What rescue? No one was after you; it was all your doing.”

“Huh?” Dangros looked puzzled.

Angel: “Just look down and you’ll see.”

Dangros stood up, clung to the edge of the Magic Hand, and looked down, only to see a blue gem glass box with the water energy vapor inside, which felt very familiar to him.

After pondering for a moment, Dangros seemed to understand what had happened: “Was I not captured by the mermaid of Marlaya Mountain? Was I in this box?”

Mermaid? So, you’ve already imagined she made an appearance, haven’t you? Angel nodded with a speechless expression: “Yes.”

“That’s a relief. I was really scared just now. I thought I was going to be captured and thrown into an ice prison, to be treated like this way… and that way…” Dangros’ expression was one of someone who had narrowly escaped a disaster, suddenly, he seemed to realize something: “Right, how did I end up inside this box?”

Seeing Dangros’ confused expression, Angel couldn’t be bothered to explain, while Lobert sighed and recounted everything that had happened from start to finish.

After hearing the whole story, Dangros finally understood why Angel had said it was all his own doing. A hint of red appeared on his face, and he sheepishly lowered his head, muttering to himself.

Lobert expressed his concern, “You just fell into that box, are you alright now?”

Recalling the horror of being enveloped in vapor, Dangros shivered but quickly recovered, shaking his head, “Apart from some energy depletion, I’m fine. But I was truly frightened earlier; it felt as though I had entered the ocean during the Voice of the World, which was terrifying.”

“The Voice of the World? Was it that intense?” Lobert was surprised. He had only sensed elemental energy from outside the box and hadn’t probed inside, so he couldn’t judge the intensity. However, hearing Dangros compare it to the Voice of the World was astonishing to him.

It’s well known that the Voice of the World is a gift from the World Will to elemental creatures in the Tidal Realm. Angel had only spent a brief time, yet he managed to create an elemental environment similar to the Voice of the World? That was hard to believe.

“I haven’t been to the ocean during the Voice of the World, so I can’t be sure, but it felt like it reached that level,” said Dangros.

Lobert turned to Angel, “My lord, may I go in and feel it myself?”

Angel, unconcerned, nodded his head.

After a while, Lobert emerged from the box, frowning, “I’m not of the water or fire element, so I can’t tell if it reached the level of the Voice of the World. But the elemental intensity inside is indeed rare.”

Seeing Dangros and Lobert discussing so seriously, Angel couldn’t help but say, “Actually, we could throw Dangros back into the box to see if it has reached that level.”

Dangros was startled and quickly waved his hand, saying, “I don’t want it, don’t want it!”

Angel paid no attention to Dangros’ refusal, directly manipulating a Magic Hand to gently toss Dangros, drawing a beautiful arc in the air, and landing him into a glass box inlaid with a red gem.

Initially, Dangros was howling in protest, but once he settled, he was stunned into silence.

“This feeling?” Unlike the previous water energy, at this moment, his surroundings were filled with a rich fire energy.

This fire energy continuously replenished what he had previously expended. In just a few minutes, the flames within him that had been depleted were refilled. Moreover, it continued to nourish his body.

“So comfortable… No, don’t!” One second Dangros was enjoying being enveloped by flames, the next he was plucked out by the Magic Hand, causing him to instinctively cry out in resistance.

Once back in mid-air, Dangros regained his senses.

“How is it? Does it reach the level of the Voice of the World?” Lobert asked curiously.

With bright lights flickering in his eyes, Dangros clung to the edge of the Magic Hand, mesmerized by the glass box inlaid with a red gem, and took a long time before responding, “I feel it does reach that level, but compared to the true Voice of the World, there’s still something slightly different. However, I can’t quite articulate what it is, it just feels… not as vivid.”

Lobert appeared utterly confused upon hearing this.

However, Angel understood what Dangros meant.

Simply put, the flame space that Angel created through runes, due to its small internal area, compressed the fire energy, indeed achieving a concentration comparable to that during an Elemental Tide. However, this was only in terms of concentration. When compared to a true Elemental Tide, it lacked a very important aspect: laws.

The Voice of the World, or the Elemental Tide, is the Will of the Tidal Realm’s World, a gift bestowed upon the world.

It contains the power of the World Will, enhancing the power of a single element according to the different elemental energies across various domains, and also makes the elemental energy in the air become vibrant and full of life.

This leads to a very clear outcome: Elemental sprites are born during an Elemental Tide.

Whereas in the fire box created by Angel through runes, although the concentration is achieved, it’s nearly impossible for elemental sprites to be born.

This is the difference between the box and the Elemental Tide; the Elemental Tide contains laws and components unknown to Angel.
