Chapter 818 The So-Called Chicken Ribs <TOC> Chapter 820 The Result of the Truth Detection Spell

Freud’s words were only half-expressed when Angel seemed to grasp his point. It was mainly due to Eniya’s presence; there were deeper matters he couldn’t disclose just yet.
Angel hesitated for a while before voicing, “So you’re implying that since I’ve transported the table into the dream, there’s nothing else I can do about it now?”
Freud nodded, uttering a soft “Mm-hmm” in agreement.
This seemingly simple affirmation not only bewildered Angel but also left Eniya, who had been listening to the whole conversation, stunned.
Eniya had always regarded the Mysterious Object as highly advanced item, thinking that even if it was deemed ‘chicken ribs’ – or something of little value – in the magazine, it couldn’t be that worthless. However, at this moment, she realized that her assumptions were entirely off the mark.
The ‘chicken ribs’ were indeed ‘chicken ribs’! Even worse, they were utterly useless!
She had pulled the table into the dream, but couldn’t even detect if it was indeed in the dream. Just sitting there doing nothing?!
Eniya suddenly felt a bit relieved. She had given away the Dream Conch of the Moonlit Coast, always portraying indifference, but deep down, she had felt a bit of heartache. However, knowing the utterly worthless function of the Dream Conch, she still felt heartache, but it was noticeably less than before.
After receiving Freud’s confirmation, Angel fell into silence.
At present, the three of them sat at the table, staring at each other, an atmosphere of awkwardness reverberating between them.
Finally managing to suppress his urge to complain, Angel turned to Freud, “People sleep, but there’s always a time when they wake up. So, when will this… table awaken?”
“People voluntarily sleep and wake up due to physiological reasons. But a table doesn’t. A table is an inanimate object; it doesn’t have any physiological characteristics.”
“In other words, once the table enters the dream, it won’t wake up?”
Freud remained silent for a while before responding, “If you destroy this table either in the dream or reality, it will awaken. Otherwise, it will stay in the dream till the end of time.”
“Let’s not mention reality for now. In the dream, I can’t even locate it. Where should I go to destroy it?” Angel vented out his frustrations, “Freud, how did you come to know that if it’s destroyed in the dream, it will awaken?”
“Well, it’s actually my conjecture too. However, I’ve gathered some data and facts that should be close to the truth.” With Eniya present, Freud once again left part of his statement unsaid.
After thinking it over, Angel concluded that a more truthful conversation would have to wait until they left this place and he could thoroughly question Freud.
“Alright then, since that’s the case, there’s not much else we can do.” Angel turned to Eniya, “I’m truly sorry for sending your table into the dream…”
Eniya: Are you serious about that?
Eniya gazed at Angel, who wore an expression of utmost seriousness, the corner of her mouth twitching slightly. “No harm done.”
Rising from his seat, Angel added, “Our apologies for the intrusion. We won’t take up any more of your time.”
Farewells were already on the tip of his tongue when a knight clad in golden armor rushed in, breathless.
“Miss Eniya, a massive whale has flown over the palace!”
The newcomer was none other than the Gold Armored Knight who had retrieved the Dream Conch from the orphanage. He was the leader of the Royal Knights of Silver Heron, known as the Bitter Berry Knight. A unique humanoid race, his body bore signs of the bitter berry magic plant. Once a follower of Eniya, he had followed her back to the Revelation Continent after her return.
The blood that had trapped Sunny in the basement was this Bitter Berry Knight.
“A whale? Flying in the sky?” Eniya sprang up in surprise. “Could it be a Cloud Whale?”
“The public outside is already in chaos, the nobles and ministers have hidden in the underground passages. What should we do?” The Bitter Berry Knight crouched, looking towards Eniya.
Eniya muttered under her breath, “I kept a low profile when I returned to the Revelation Continent. My previous enemies should not be so intent on wiping me out… No matter, let’s not dwell on it. Bitter Berry Knight, let’s go outside and see.”
With that, she rushed out of the room with the Bitter Berry Knight, completely ignoring Angel’s presence in her boudoir.
Angel was also taken aback. He had heard the commotion outside but had not paid it any attention. To think that this upheaval was due to a massive whale flying in the sky?
If it was a Cloud Whale as Eniya speculated, then it wouldn’t be too bad. At least, to Angel’s knowledge, Cloud Whales were not destructive creatures. Born intelligent, they were generally friendly towards humans, another intelligent species.
However, to get a clear understanding of the situation, it would be better to go and see for himself.
Angel pocketed the Dream Conch and followed Eniya out the door.
They were situated at the top of a four-story wooden building. Leaning on the railing, Eniya was looking up at the sky. Her eyes were filled with shock and uncertainty, and Angel followed her gaze.
At first glance, Angel’s brow furrowed.
A unicorn abyssal whale? And he was not unfamiliar with this particular one. The familiar shape, and the young man in the blue robe standing on the back of the abyss whale, all of it served to confirm their identities.
“The Son of the Sea, Jiebo?!” Eniya looked at the figure in the sky with surprise and confusion. She had never crossed paths with Jiebo before, so why was he here? And his commanding presence suggested he was here for a confrontation?!
“Bitter Berry Knight, lift me up.” No sooner had Eniya’s words fallen than a series of black vines, resembling tree branches, sprouted from the gaps in the armor on Bitter Berry Knight’s back, soaring skyward.
This spectacle stirred a childhood memory in Angel, a fairytale told by Jon about Jack’s Magic Beanstalk.
Without any hesitation, Eniya hopped onto the vines. Her light figure sprinted nimbly amongst the foliage, and she swiftly ascended to the top of the vines, level with the terrifyingly enormous whale.
“Sir Jiebo, what brings you to my Silver Heron Royal House?” Eniya asked in a calm manner. “Such a grand display – could there be a misunderstanding between us?”
Although incensed by the other party’s actions, she had to restrain her fury in light of the overriding circumstances.
Jiebo glanced at Eniya, his eyebrows knitting together in a dismissive attitude that rankled Eniya.
“A disciple of the White Magic Witch?” murmured Jiebo.
Eniya: “Indeed, the White Magic Witch is my mentor, and my name is Eniya.”
“Oh, Eniya, I’m not interested in you,” Jiebo’s gaze wandered slowly, eventually settling on Angel, who was on the lower loft.
Angel noticed Jiebo’s gaze and, with a stern expression, placed one foot on the ground. His boot traced a series of golden runes as he ascended into mid-air.
“Jiebo.” Angel noticed a darkened shift in Jiebo’s eyes, different from before. “Do you need something?”
A mocking smile emerged on Jiebo’s face: “I had thought that you stayed in the Feran Continent for a Guide Mission, but I never expected you to have ulterior motives.”
Angel frowned, “What do you mean?”
“What do I mean? Don’t you know?” Jiebo dropped his smile and said coldly, “Your journey to the Feran Continent must have been premeditated. You probably knew about Lucas’s situation long ago, right? There should be a portal in the City of Lost Melodies that leads straight to the Mysterious Space, right? Also, you slipped into the Mysterious Space before its doors opened, didn’t you?”
Every question Jiebo asked sank Angel’s mood further.
It seemed that he had underestimated the capabilities of a large-scale wizard organization. He thought he had erased all traces, but he was still discovered.
But where did he slip up?
Only by identifying where he exposed himself could he gauge how much the other party knew, and then figure out how to deal with it.
The Feran Continent… Mysterious Space… Angel swiftly rifled through his memories, magnifying many of the details he typically overlooked.
Could it be that Professor Gurman inadvertently revealed something? Did they later find remnants of his nightmarish power after seeking him out?
Or perhaps, did he leave traces on a ship within the mysterious space? However, Angel remembered that just before leaving the mysterious space, the small island was almost completely destroyed. Could they really find any clues amidst those ships?
Or perhaps he failed to thoroughly erase the traces in the well beneath Snowlay Garden? This also seemed unlikely, as he meticulously cleaned the entire Snowlay Garden.
Angel reflected on many possibilities, but these were all fleeting thoughts.
He didn’t notice any traces left behind. If there truly were any, it could only be because Professor Gurman had been too gentle in his handling.
However, Angel didn’t quite believe that the people of the Song of the Deep Sea and Summer Dew Ridge, after receiving Lucas’s data, would still go to find Professor Gurman.
Where on earth did Jiebo discover it from?
Angel pondered, his expression unchanged, his gaze steady. He ventured, “I don’t understand what you’re talking about. My journey to the Feran Continent was solely to find talented individuals, devoid of the ulterior motives you speak of.”
Jiebo snorted coldly, “Still not admitting it? It doesn’t matter though. I’ve surrounded us with a water screen. You’re not leaving here today.”
As Jiebo’s words fell, a huge pale blue water screen enveloped the entire Silver Heron Palace.
“In this water prison, it’s impossible for you to escape through the use of gravity lines!”
The viscous water elements filled the entire space within the water screen. Being in this water-element-drenched space was like being stuck in a quagmire, a condition that would thwart any physical force.
Jiebo was obviously idealistic, presuming that everything would be simple if he could just restrict Angel’s physical activities.
But what he didn’t know was that Angel’s strongest time was actually after his soul had left his body. Especially after he comprehended the path of the soul realm, he could release various tricks in his soul state, making his strength even more formidable.
“I reject baseless Accusations,” Angel declared, his voice as deep as the ocean abyss, “I bear no grudge against the Song of the Deep Sea, yet you impose unfounded allegations on me, akin to how an ant would scheme in its burrow, intending to use me as a scapegoat to strike against my mentor.”
Angel’s words resonated with the force of a dropped stone, echoing through the surroundings. However, he was not addressing Jiebo, but rather, he was speaking to Eniya and to the very cosmos itself.
Should anyone investigate this matter in the future, regardless of the outcome, justice must stand on my side.
Having said that, Angel was already muttering the Mysterious Soul Whisper from the depths of his mind.
On the other side, Jiebo, hearing Angel’s words, displayed a moment of hesitation. He didn’t comprehend the intention behind Angel’s statement, but he indeed had to consider the reaction of Sanders after he executed this plan.
After a moment of contemplation, Jiebo’s tone softened slightly, “If you voluntarily hand over the Mysterious Object you’ve intercepted, I can act as if this incident never transpired, I might even plea for leniency on your behalf to Mentor.”
