Chapter 838 Refugees <TOC> Chapter 840 Silk Production

“In a far-off world of fairytales, there existed a race known as the Kulakuka, who loved to dwell in human households. The local people referred to them as the Little Folk, or the Fairies of the Attic.”
As Angel shared this tale, Kumumu, with a hint of shyness, bowed respectfully to those around her.
“Her name is Kumumu, and she is the chieftain of the Kulakuka,” Angel briefly introduced Kumumu’s identity, then revealed that aside from Kumumu, there were 76 others residing within his bracelet. “Due to certain unique circumstances, I promised to provide this tribe a sanctuary. The Wizarding World is fraught with danger, so I brought them back to the Old Land Continent.”
“There are 76 more?” Leon was surprised.
After a moment of contemplation, Angel decided to transport the entire tall building from inside his bracelet into the middle of the hall.
The Kulakuka people, who were previously engrossed in farming, animal husbandry, playful bickering, or casual chatting, were all momentarily paused.
They noticed that the surrounding mist enveloping their tall building had suddenly disappeared, replaced by exquisite walls and several towering humans.
While they were unfamiliar with the others, they had deep trust in Angel. All of the Kulakuka people fell silent at this moment, merely observing their surroundings with curious eyes.
“Lord Pat, where are we?” An elderly lady, living in a small wooden hut outside the high-rise building and leaning on a cane, broke the silence.
“Grandma Babaya, this is the Pat Manor I mentioned before,” Angel replied.
Upon hearing Angel’s response, the previously quiet Kulakuka were all roused. They had been waiting within the bracelet for over a year and finally arrived at their new dwelling place. Their hearts were brimming with joy.
Without any need for organization, all of the Kulakuka were expressing their joy in their own unique ways.
A boy in green, sitting on a tree branch, began to strum a traditional instrument called the Dondra, and a melodious song flowed forth. His companions below started to dance, while the folks watching from the building balcony joined in the singing. The song was pleasing and enchanting, quickly captivating all the members of the tribe. Either responding in song or joining in the dance, the entire Kulakuka tribe was swept up in a sea of joy.
Even the tiny pigs they were herding pricked up their snouts at this moment, snorting in time with the rhythm of the music, asserting their presence.
“Hush.” As their singing reached a crescendo, Angel suddenly placed his finger on his lips, signaling for silence.
The singing abruptly ceased, but the joyous afterglow still lingered in the air.
Already melded into the song, Ollie and Mana snapped awake at this point. They both gazed at Angel in bewilderment, not understanding why he had abruptly halted proceedings.
Leon too, watched Angel with curiosity.
“Don’t be too quick to celebrate,” Angel spoke, “I did say I would bring you back to reside in the Pat Manor. But whether you can stay here now, it’s not up to me.” He gestured towards Leon, drawing the collective gaze of the Kulakuka tribe onto him, “He is my brother. You may address him as Viscount, the actual proprietor of the Pat Manor. If you wish to stay here, the final decision lies with him.”
Looking at the simple-eyed little people who were fixing pleading gazes on him, Leon almost wanted to agree right away. But before he could respond, he heard Angel’s message, asking him to withhold his answer.
“Viscount, may we stay?” It was Kumumu who asked.
The 77 members of the Kulakuka tribe, including Kumumu, all stepped forward. They were all standing outside the building on an open space, staring at him with imploring eyes.
Leon showed a hint of hesitation, causing a ripple of anxiety among the crowd.
Ollie and Mana standing behind Leon were actually stunned at this moment. The little people were few in number, and even all of them together didn’t take up much space; there was no need to refuse. And honestly, it had been a long time since they had felt such sincere and pure joy. Almost the moment the Kulakuka tribe started singing, they had accepted them.
Ollie wanted to say something, but the moment she moved, she was held back by Mana, the head maid standing beside her, who shook her head at her, signaling her to keep calm.
At this moment, Angel’s voice rang out.
“….The Kulakuka tribe is industrious, they can almost be called a tribe of craftsmen, loving to craft all sorts of exquisite objects. They also have a gentle and kind nature. Those who live with the Kulakuka tribe will find their lives becoming more and more refined. Moreover, there’s a legend in the Fairytale World that if a Kulakuka tribe moves into someone’s home, that family will enjoy perpetual happiness and prosperity.”
As Angel described the virtues of the Kulakuka tribe, the more he spoke, the more tempted Leon became.
Leon looked at Angel, then at Kumumu, and cleared his throat, “Can you gradually transform the living environment of the home?”
Kumumu replied, “If Viscount wishes it, we will do it.”
“I can grant you the status of residents of Grud Town, but you must bear the obligations of the residents like everyone else in the town, such as taxes, farming land rental fees,” Leon paused before continuing, “These fees, you can exchange them through transforming the living environment of the Pat Manor, and trading your handicrafts with us. What do you think?”
Kumumu and the rest of her clan exchanged views, coming to the consensus that this was indeed a grand concession for them. At least, the elder brother of Lord Pat had not treated them as slaves, but was willing to grant them a relatively free resident status.
“We agree,” Kumumu declared.
Upon hearing this, Leon finally made a decision, allowing them to live in the Pat Manor and enjoy all the rights of the residents.
With Leon’s decision, both Ollie and Mana broke into laughter. The previously interrupted music and dance resumed at this moment, with the festive Kulakuka tribe even inviting Leon and the others to join in.
There were even audacious Kulakuka tribesmen who, with a few vigorous leaps, landed on Leon’s shoulder armor, producing an instrument on the armor and chanting praises akin to a choir.
On Ollie and Mana, a few young Kulakuka females began to hum beautiful songs.
Only at this moment did they realize that the diminutive Kulakuka tribe possessed astonishing agility and balance.
If they lived together for a long time, they would find that the Kulakuka were not as frail as they seemed from the outside. Their speed was not inferior to humans, and they were almost invisible when they ran. They initially worried that they might accidentally step on a Kulakuka due to inattention, but they realized there was no need for such concern.
For a time, the entire hall seemed to be immersed in a sea of joy.
Suddenly, a rich aroma wafted from Granny Babaya’s wooden house. Along with the aroma came a tiny flower fairy with gorgeous wings — the Moon Bellflower Fairy.
Although it was slightly larger than the other Kulakuka, it was no bigger than a palm. Its androgynous face was exceedingly beautiful. It flew out of the wooden house carrying a small bottle.
The rich aroma originated from this bottle.
The surrounding Kulakuka did not stop singing because of the arrival of the Moon Bellflower Fairy, but instead grew even more excited, their eyes flashing with anticipation.
Ollie and Mana looked at the Moon Bellflower Fairy, covering their mouths in surprise, as the fairy’s appearance was simply too dreamlike.
Leon curiously looked at Angel, inquiring about its identity with his eyes.
“It is a Moon Bellflower Fairy, a fairy of flowers, a transcendent being. However, it has not fully awakened yet and cannot speak,” Angel’s telepathic message reached Leon, Ollie, and Mana at the same time.
Upon seeing the Moon Bellflower Fairy, Toby immediately jumped off Angel’s shoulder and flew next to the fairy, keeping it company.
“As you can see, it is also a good friend of Toby,” Angel explained casually, “The bottle in the Moon Bellflower Spirit’s hand is something special. Ollie, go and order someone to bring a vat full of water.”
Ollie harbored a wish to bask longer in the music, but ultimately it was the young master’s command that prevailed. With that, she ventured out, accompanied by two curious beings of the Kulakuka tribe perched on her shoulders.
Throughout their journey, the miniature beings on Ollie’s shoulders drew the gaze of every other servant.
The Kulakuka tribe members weren’t shy; they introduced themselves as they trotted along. With a hearty chuckle, Ollie added, “They’ll be residents of Grud Town from now on.”
By the time Ollie had instructed a few servants to bring a vat of water into the great hall, the news of the tiny tribe’s presence in the mansion had spread like wildfire, reaching every servant’s ear.
Everyone was overcome with curiosity. However, due to decorum, only a few dared to venture into the hall. The rest lingered outside, stealthily eavesdropping on the beautiful singing emanating from the hall… and the intoxicating aroma of wine?!
The song came to a halt just as the air was heavily laden with the fragrance of wine.
The crowd saw a Moon Bellflower Fairy, fluttering its wings and pouring a pale-yellow liquid from a small bottle into the vast vat. Then something magical occurred… The entire vat of water glowed orange, changing into pale yellow wine at a visibly rapid pace.
The wine was rich and fragrant, its floral notes engulfing the senses.
“This wine is brewed by the Moon Bellflower Fairy. A single drop can turn a vat of water into fine wine, and it’s beneficial to your health,” Angel declared.
One drop to create a vat of wine?! Everyone gazed at the Moon Bellflower Fairy in stunned silence.
Leon also looked at the Moon Bellflower Fairy in awe. In his life, apart from his beloved younger brother, wine was his most passionate obsession. But fine wine was hard to come by, and he had to make do with strong spirits. Now, the appearance of a Moon Bellflower Fairy, capable of brewing wine at an astonishingly high rate, was a sight to behold.
Overwhelmed by Leon’s gaze, the Moon Bellflower Fairy blushed and hid in Toby’s feathers.
“Brother, the Moon Bellflower Fairy is a genderless flower fairy, and given the size difference, are you planning on an emotional romance?” Angel jested.
Leon cast Angel an irritated glance. “Impudent! Let’s forget about it and enjoy the wine!”
Leon was the first one to rush to the vat. However, just as he was about to scoop up the wine, Angel levitated the vat into mid-air with magic.
“Hold on… What is wine without a feast?” Angel glanced around at everyone. “Since it’s almost dinner time, we should host a welcoming banquet on the lawn to celebrate the arrival of the Kulakuka tribe! We can introduce them to everyone else.”
After a pause, he continued, “At that time, I’ll also bring out some surprise gifts.”
Upon Angel’s proclamation, everyone responded enthusiastically. However, poor Leon, holding his wine bowl, could only watch longingly as Angel stowed the vat of wine into his bracelet, his face a picture of despair.
