Chapter 890 Deciphering the Green Runes <TOC> Chapter 892 The Gate of Dreams
Translator: SumTLMan
Boundless potential abounds!
Without hesitation, Angel immerses himself in the green runes on the sphere of light.
Having gained prior experience, Angel’s efficiency in deciphering the green runes greatly increased. Considering that the green runes were under his control, it didn’t take long for Angel to decode the first piece of data, or rather, the first fragmentary model: “binding.”
“Binding,” just as the name suggests, can restrict energy.
Angel had previously constrained the energy of the Nightmare Plane, condensing it into a point to activate the Domain Lapis Lazuli.
However, can this “binding” only restrict Nightmare Plane energy? Angel thought that after leaving the Dream Realm, it would be worthwhile to see if it could bind other types of energy. If so, it could potentially lead to the exploration of new avenues of discovery.
Angel continued his research.
As he deciphered the second set of data, he was, however, perplexed.
The first data piece was named “binding,” which he could understand. Given that the sphere was currently tightly enveloped by the green runes, referring to it as binding seemed plausible.
But the second data piece, named “dissolution,” caught Angel off guard.
“Dissolution,” similar to erosion, left Angel in a contemplative state, eventually leading him to initiate “dissolution” out of curiosity.
As he activated dissolution, he realized that he was treading on dangerous ground.
The moment dissolution was activated, the green runes binding the sphere began to contract, and at the same time, a shower of light particles rained from within the sphere.
Before Angel could understand the situation, a gust of wind scattered these particles across the wilderness.
At this point, corresponding information finally receives feedback.
Some of the Nightmare Domain’s abilities were dissolved by the green runes and then returned to the Wilderness of Dreams itself.
The term “abilities,” on a grand scale, refers to phenomena like the life cycle of grains, the rotation of seasons, atmospheric weather, the birth and death of all things, etc. On a smaller scale, Angel’s perfect control of the Opulent Nightmare Domain signifies his possession of the Opulent Nightmare Domain’s abilities.
Just now, Angel’s dissolution of some of the Nightmare Domain’s substance resulted in some of these abilities being returned to the Wilderness of Dreams.
As to which abilities were dissolved? Angel had no idea, but his reflexes were swift. As soon as he felt the sphere exuding some particles, he immediately stopped the dissolution.
Angel felt a pang of loss for the dissolved abilities. However, since these abilities were returned to the Wilderness of Dreams, they would surely manifest within the Dream Wilderness in the future. If they had been taken by the Dream Realm, that would be a truly heartbreaking loss.
For now, Angel decided not to activate the model of “dissolution,” intending to delve deeper into the mystery surrounding it.
When Angel observed that the second model pertained to the “dissolution” of the light sphere’s authority, a hunch regarding the third set of data took form in his mind.
Perhaps, the answer he sought was hidden within this third set of data.
Shortly, the third data set was decrypted. Like before, it revealed a fragmented model that could link with the preceding models of “binding” and “dissolution.”
The meaning represented by this data affirmed Angel’s initial speculation.
—”Integration!”
“Dissolve” the authority, then “integrate” it with oneself to gain control over the corresponding power!
If Angel could completely dissolve the light sphere and blend it with himself, it would essentially equate to undertaking the Nightmare Domain! He would then still be able to control all the powers within the Wilderness of Dreams.
Crucially, he could activate this “integration” model.
Suppressing his joy, Angel decided to press on. This series of data had thus far revealed three components: binding, dissolution, and integration.
What could be next?
As Angel began to explore the fourth data in this series, he was surprised to find that the fourth data set curved back to the “passage.”
Having studied the “passage” previously, he quickly deciphered it.
If the fourth data was “passage,” then could the fifth be “gate”?
Indeed, as Angel delved into the fifth data set, he encountered a familiar model once again: gate.
Just like before, the “gate” could not be activated.
After some contemplation, Angel noted that the series of data comprised five parts: binding, dissolution, integration, passage, and gate.
Angel recollected that the light sphere was bound by the green runes because it had received a substantial influx of the Nightmare Plane’s aura, leading it to believe it had reconnected with the Nightmare Plane.
This seemed eerily similar to the present situation. The initial three data sets pertained to controlling the power of the light sphere. The final two described something connected with the “gate.”
Isn’t it just the sphere of light that mistakenly believes it’s reestablished a link with the Nightmare Plane?
Angel grasped the overarching dynamics at play. Moreover, he discovered that all the data he had found before, including models for “accommodation”, “release”, “binding”, and so forth, could be integrated into one through the “passages” and “gates”.
This resulted in a slightly larger model.
However, this model was still incomplete, and there could be a substantial amount of missing pieces.
Angel hypothesized that the complete model might represent the true nature of the green rune. Perhaps, the green rune is a method of cultivation in the Nightmare Plane or a Law within it.
Angel had an inkling that maybe, only when he fully merges with the “golden haired figure”, would the green rune be able to reveal the actual model.
Yet, Angel had no intention whatsoever to merge with anyone, even if they might be his projection in the Nightmare Plane.
…
After taking a brief rest, Angel decided to commence the process of dissolving the sphere’s authority and then integrate it.
This attempt was crucial, indicating whether he could master the Wilderness of Dreams.
Taking a deep breath, Angel reinitiated the “dissolution” model.
This time, Angel had learned his lesson. Upon seeing the sphere compress and start to drop light particles, he immediately halted the “dissolution” and initiated “integration”. As the “integration” started, these particles began to transform into a torrent of information about authority, engulfing Angel’s thought process.
As he perceived this torrent of information, Angel realized he had bitten off more than he could chew.
The Wilderness of Dreams was too vast, many times larger than the man-made Interstitial Space in Sleepless City of Eternal Night Kingdom. Even Sanders had not discovered such an expansive Interstitial Space.
Angel, upon receiving some information from the torrent, had a rough idea of the boundaries of the Wilderness of Dreams.
It might even exceed the combined area of the Old Land Continent and the Revelation Continent.
As a result, the richness and completeness of its authority were unimaginable. It was exponentially more advanced than Angel’s Opulent Nightmare Domain.
As Angel integrated the “light particles”, he found that just after a few particles were integrated, his brain felt like it was on the verge of bursting.
And yet, he had barely touched the fringe of the first authority.
The intense agony brought Angel to the brink of surrender. However, if he conceded now, the “particles of light” would revert to the Wilderness of Dreams, effectively giving away his power.
He had already ceded an unknown power to the Wilderness of Dreams before; he couldn’t bear to lose another. He wouldn’t be able to forgive himself.
Thus, he mustered every ounce of resilience left in him.
Amid the excruciating pain, Angel gritted his teeth, stubbornly enduring the torment.
Finally, he successfully integrated the first power. Before he could fully comprehend what this power was, he collapsed onto the floor, a wave of dizziness washing over him.
As his consciousness began to blur, a sigh of relief surfaced in Angel’s heart.
—Thankfully, his previous attempt to fuse the Wilderness of Dreams with the Opulent Nightmare Domain had been unsuccessful. If the fusion had transpired, his body, comparable to an ant attempting to swallow a whale, would not have survived against such a vast Nightmare Domain. He might have exploded on the spot and perished. Even if Sanders arrived, he doubted his ability to fuse with the Wilderness of Dreams.
Simultaneously, in reality, blood started trickling from Angel’s ears, nostrils, and corners of his mouth. His life force weakened significantly, and his body seemed to shrivel slightly.
This manifested the immense toll the fusion of powers had taken on Angel.
Outside the Illusion Realm, Toby had been amusing himself alone. Over the course of a month, he had exhausted every possible form of entertainment he could think of. In the end, he decided to arrange the contents of the Snowy Feather.
Dried fish, costumes, small bed, cotton blanket…and the skull he retrieved from the pitch-black cave.
However, the skull, which initially glowed gold, had ceased to shine. He wasn’t sure if it was broken.
Toby didn’t bother himself with it and continued organizing his belongings.
At that moment, he detected a faint scent of blood emanating from the Illusion Realm. It was a familiar scent—one that belonged to Angel!
Startled, Toby stashed all his items into his pocket dimension and dashed into the Illusion Realm.
…
At that time, Angel found himself within a dream.
Or rather, upon gaining the first power from the Wilderness of Dreams, his perspective shifted.
Now, he seemed to embody the Wilderness of Dreams, observing the surrounding void of darkness from its vantage point.
It was only then that Angel beheld a scene that struck him with astonishment!
From the perspective of the Wilderness of Dreams, as he examined his surroundings, he realized that the Wilderness of Dreams was no more than a microcosm encapsulated in an idyllic diorama.
In the dark void, a behemoth so colossal that it lacked perceivable boundaries was quietly observing this miniature world of the Wilderness of Dreams with its golden vertical pupils.
This creature was so immense that perhaps even its eyes alone dwarfed the Wilderness of Dreams!
It was the largest entity Angel had ever encountered, and it was perceived through the lens of a realm as expansive as the Wilderness of Dreams.
This monstrous creature kept its unwavering gaze on the Wilderness of Dreams, as if it was coveting something. However, in Angel’s state of half-dream, half-awakening, he saw a golden haired figure standing opposite the monstrous creature, obstructing its path.
The disparity in their sizes was dramatic to the extreme. When compared to the monstrous creature, the golden haired figure seemed no more significant than a speck of dust.
Yet, it was this figure, standing there, that impeded the monstrous creature’s voyeuristic pursuit.
It was at this moment that Angel began to understand why, despite the Interstitial Space being a place that all creatures of the Nightmare Plane yearned for, none dared to pry into it. Perhaps it was due to the presence of this creature, whose enormity was beyond description.
Or perhaps, it was because of the golden haired figure standing guard outside.
Angel couldn’t make out what the golden haired figure was doing, it seemed like it was negotiating or maybe bargaining.
Finally, the creature, so vast that Angel felt it could compare to an entire world, slowly receded back into the dark depths, closing its indifferent golden eyes.
The golden haired figure only then turned around, gazing at the Wilderness of Dreams fading into the void from afar, remaining silent and contemplative.
