Chapter 895 The Dream Access Device

Chapter 894 Energy Storage Space <TOC> Chapter 896 The Enlarging Insect Egg

The Energy Storage Space, ostensibly a magic formation, in actuality isn’t heavy on magical runes. It comprises merely three—the Constant Rune, Solidifying Rune, and Soul Storing Rune. Among these, Angel had already studied the Constant Rune in the past.

All things considered, the Energy Storage Space isn’t an overly complicated magic formation.

Angel spent two days meticulously selecting his materials, ultimately deciding on a slightly above-average combination. With another day of focused crafting, he successfully concocted a somewhat rudimentary “Dream Access Device”.

Initially, Angel, with a touch of whimsy, had intended to shape the device into a helmet, calling it a ‘Virtual Helmet’.

However, on further contemplation, crafting a helmet seemed somewhat wasteful of materials and rather inconvenient for transportation. So, he modified his design slightly, opting for a pair of spectacles instead.

To be precise, it was a rather elegant-looking monocle, though still a common model.

Angel didn’t expend too much thought on naming, straightforwardly dubbing it the “Dream Wilderness Access Device”.

Upon completion, he appraised the item with the Eye of Nalda.

It was at the apex of the lower rank, only a step away from the middle rank.

Its function was as expected— the Dream Initiation Illusion spell was successfully solidified. Each activation would consume a certain amount of energy, which was replenishable. The current count of activations stood at: 979/979.

Angel tested the device on himself and successfully logged into the Wilderness of Dreams. Simultaneously, the count of device activations decreased by one, reading 978/979.

Once he entered the Wilderness of Dreams through the Access Device, Angel was immediately greeted by the sight of a near-revolutionized cluster of buildings.

Some days prior, Freud had embarked on a massive shopping spree, buying up a trove of materials and dyes. He had Angel pull them into the Dream Wilderness via the Dream Conch. In a short span of less than a week, the appearance of the buildings underwent a considerable transformation.

Though the architectural style remained somewhat distinct, Freud had introduced a uniform color scheme across all buildings. He had also ingeniously blended some intricate decorations, and the final effect was astonishingly striking.

There wasn’t the slightest hint of garishness. On the contrary, it emanated a unique, special charm.

A kind of artistic richness that was inherently central to the Imperial style.

Angel couldn’t help but praise Freud’s skill. As a seasoned noble born in the Central Empire, Freud’s taste in art was truly sophisticated and natural. Even when Angel didn’t provide any specific layout, any random building tossed into the mix by him could be transformed from mediocre to extraordinary.

While admiring the surroundings, Angel heard a nursery rhyme that was quite childish emanating from a mushroom-shaped house in the distance.

Judging from the voice, it seemed to be sung by Sunny.

However, compared to her singing in reality, the song here lacked the charm and allure, instead brimming with innocence and childlike purity.

After Sunny finished singing, Alda followed suit and sang a well-known children’s rhyme from the Central Empire: “Rock-a-bye, Wooden Horse.”

Alda’s singing was not as pleasant as Sunny’s, but one could still discern the innocence and purity of a child in his voice.

Upon the conclusion of their performance, applause erupted from within the mushroom house, accompanied by Freud’s commendations: “Sunny’s voice is not as intimidating as it is in reality, well done. As for you, Alda, with your hoarse voice, don’t choose such high-pitched songs in the future…”

Sunny’s laughter and Alda’s discontent echoed from the house.

Standing at the entrance, Angel was unable to suppress his amusement. The warm ambiance of the house made him miss his own family.

The knock on the door startled the inhabitants.

At this point in the dream wilderness, the only people who could appear were Freud, Sunny, Alda, and Angel. Therefore, Freud opened the door without hesitation and unsurprisingly saw Angel standing outside.

“Master.” Freud greeted respectfully.

Angel glanced inside the house. The fire in the hearth was blazing, while Sunny and Alda sat on the soft couch, looking curiously at him.

While Sunny looked the same as in reality, her demeanor here in the dream wilderness lacked the fierceness she possessed in the real world. Alda was no different, showing none of the soul characteristics that he bore in reality.

Even if others were to enter this place, they would not be able to discern their real identities.

Angel nodded at Sunny and playfully tousled Alda’s hair. He had to admit, Alda’s hair was incredibly soft, providing a pleasing sensation when touched. As for Sunny… given that she was a girl, Angel decided it was best to maintain a respectful distance.

After a playful exchange with Alda, Angel turned his gaze to Freud, first praising his efficiency in the architectural modifications, and then went on, “Regarding the issue of remote login, I’ve now found a solution.”

Angel briefly explained the matter concerning the Dream Access Device.

“Even though the Dream Access Device has usage limitations, it’s better than nothing. We will use this temporarily, and look for improvements when we find other methods,” Angel paused, “After giving you the device, I will leave. I’ve been away for quite some time, and the situation with mentor Jon is uncertain; I must return to check on him.”

Freud intended to propose that he could accompany Angel when he leaves.

However, Angel rejected the idea, “You should stay here; Sunny and Alda need your care. You can also test if there are any distance restrictions for logging into the Wilderness of Dreams after I leave. If we can still meet in the Wilderness of Dreams when I return to the Old Land Continent, this can be considered a form of long-distance communication.”

Upon hearing this, Freud nodded. Even if he doesn’t accompany Angel, it would be alright if they could meet within the Wilderness of Dreams.

“Once I hand over the Dream Access Device to you, you can decide if you want to let others in. If outsiders are to be allowed in, a confidentiality contract is currently required,” Angel paused, musing inwardly: After all, this is considered internal testing.

“Lord, can I use the Dream Access Device to conduct experiments on whether the spiritual light of consciousness can be stored in the Wilderness of Dreams after death?” Freud asked.

Angel also intended to conduct this experiment; after all, it was related to whether Jon could potentially become a permanent resident of the Wilderness of Dreams in the future.

“You may proceed, but use your judgement on the number of logins.”

Angel then explained to Freud the method of using the Dream Access Device and the location of their future meetings before saying goodbye and leaving.

After giving the Dream Access Device to Freud, Angel bid him farewell and left.

Before Angel boarded the Gondola and disappeared from the sight of the town, he saw Eniya leading a group of talented individuals towards the direction of the orphanage.

Angel shook his head and said, “It looks like Freud has more work to do.”

One reason Angel did not part with Freud was that Freud had established contracts with several wizard organizations, and the orphanage had become a checkpoint for these establishments to assess the talented.

From Revelation Continent to Old Land Continent, Angel and Toby alternated in utilizing the Gravity Lines for speed acceleration, and in two days, they could see the coastline of the Old Land Continent.

After being absent for over three months, Angel discovered that the conflicts in the Goldfinch Empire were gradually subsiding.

On his way back to Grud Town, he saw fewer refugees than before. Returning to the outskirts of Grud Town, the refugee camps also had fewer inhabitants, as they couldn’t penetrate Grud Town due to the illusionary concealment.

Upon Angel’s return to the Pat Manor, he immediately noticed a change in the atmosphere.

The air was fresher than before, and what’s more, it was filled with life energy that was beneficial to the body – mild and non-irritating.

Due to the peak of summer, the outside temperature was hot and humid, but within the Pat Manor, there was not a hint of discomfort. On the contrary, it was pleasantly cool and refreshing.

At this time, Angel was still on the Gondola. He contemplated for a moment and steered the Gondola towards the main castle.

There was a small patch of Cloud Soil here where the “Goddess of Spring,” Demeter, purchased from Ashen Time, was planted.

After a few months, the Demeter not only sprouted but now stood like a shady green tree.

The rich life energy and the adjustment of the Pat Manor’s temperature were the improvements made by the Demeter.

When Angel arrived at the Cloud Soil, he unexpectedly saw Eureka.

Eureka was sitting next to the Demeter, leisurely reading a book. The aura of the Demeter was greatly nourishing to ordinary people and also offered a certain soothing effect to Eureka, whose mental power had been damaged. Although it couldn’t restore her mental power, it could make her feel comfortable.

Therefore, in these past few months, Eureka preferred to stay by the Demeter’s side rather than in the stilt building.

“You’re back?” Eureka raised an eyebrow, looking at Angel sitting on the Gondola, a fleeting surprise in her eyes. Even though she had seen the Gondola many times, every time she saw this vessel that looked like it was draped in stars and moonlight, she couldn’t help but admire.

With a nod, Angel took flight towards the Cloud Soil, neatly tucking the Gondola into his bracelet.

“Hmm? Your hand…” Eureka wore a puzzled expression as she scrutinized Angel’s right hand, which was veiled in a faint illusion spell.

“A slight mishap occurred. I didn’t want Leon to worry, so I camouflaged it with an illusion spell,” Angel clarified.

Assuming that he had injured his right hand, Eureka didn’t pierce through the illusion to investigate further. She merely nodded gently, “You’ve been away for over three months. Did you make any discoveries? Have you found a way to save Jon?”

Angel shook his head, “I haven’t found a way to save Jon’s life…”

He didn’t lie – while he had not found a way to restore Jon, he did have an alternate approach in mind.

Eureka nodded again, choosing not to delve deeper into the matter.

Glancing at the situation with the Demeter, Angel wanted to ask Eureka why she was here, but eventually, he held his tongue. Instead, he bid Eureka farewell and set off towards the ice chamber.

Eureka watched as Angel’s figure faded into the distance, her eyes filled with curiosity.

“Master, I can’t shake the feeling that he’s lying,” Blaire, who was perched atop the Demeter, chimed in.

“He probably didn’t lie, but he did withhold some information,” Eureka closed her book and stretched, “Nonetheless, it doesn’t really matter. If he truly found a way to save Jon, it wouldn’t be detrimental to us, right?”

“Do you think he might have exposed our whereabouts since he’s been away for so long?” Blaire pondered aloud.

“No,” Eureka answered with an air of certainty, “He wouldn’t expose us, especially not when Jon and Leon are here.”
