Chapter 989 Mundane Affairs

Chapter 988 Unceasingly Stirring Up Trouble <TOC> Chapter 990 A Trace of Dream

“Well, your reputation is already tarnished.” Angel suggested, “So, how about this, next time you take off your helmet when you go in. The one who dueled with you certainly won’t trouble you again.”

Tulas paused, “Why?”

“Because in the eight creeds of the knight, bullying children is unacceptable.” Angel said seriously.

Tulas, however, didn’t understand Angel’s meaning and was about to ask further when a cold, raspy voice echoed from behind, “Is this Tulas you brought out from that dark space?”

Angel nodded, “Yes, it is.”

Sanders scrutinized Tulas from top to bottom, finally saying slowly, “The accumulation of soul power is extremely deep and pure, unrefined yet not falling short of an average second level apprentice.”

If a soul wizard were to find him, he would undoubtedly be the best choice for a spiritual servant.

“He was a ghost before, then through the Prelude of Reincarnation, he became a soul. My records are here.” Angel pulled out a notebook that specifically recorded Tulas’ experiment report and handed it to Sanders.

Sanders didn’t take it, in fact, without looking at the notebook, he had already deduced the process of a ghost’s transformation back into a soul.

His curiosity towards Tulas was entirely due to Tulas being the first transformation subject of that Mysterious Object.

According to Angel’s account, that Mysterious Object was Lucas’ Skull. Although Lucas’ left diary verified that Lucas’ Skull once actualized some of Lucas’ lies, this didn’t mean that Lucas was its activator, he was merely its birth vessel at most.

When it truly became an independent Mysterious Object, Tulas was its activator. Hence, Sanders’ curiosity about Tulas lay here.

In the time that followed, Sanders asked Tulas some questions about Lucas’ Skull.

He gained a lot more detailed information.

Seeing Sanders’ serious expression, Angel had a realization, “Mentor, are you also planning to find Lucas’ Skull?”

Sanders didn’t deny it, “Others couldn’t find it, probably due to the lack of information. Since we hold a lot of information and even possess a soul deeply associated with the skull, we might be able to locate it.”

“In a while, when Maya returns from the Shining Plane, I will take you back to the Savage Grottoes. Then, we can give it a try.”

An artifact, which could be designated as of strategically important, how could it not stir Sanders’ heart? Even if the realization of so-called “causality” would require centuries, it was hardly significant compared to the extensive lifespan of a wizard.

With that matter temporarily put aside, Sanders suddenly inquired, “What did Tulas mean by ‘enter Initial Heart City for a duel’?”

Sanders had found it rather puzzling when he heard it earlier. According to Tulas’ wording, it seemed as if Angel could take him into a place named Initial Heart City at any time or place, which roused Sanders’ curiosity.

“If we’re discussing Initial Heart City, it’s basically what I referred to earlier when I mentioned that ‘messing around’ business.”

Upon hearing this, Sanders promptly interrupted, “Do you mean that this matter is also connected to the change in your right hand?”

After carefully mulling it over, Angel nodded. The establishment of the Wilderness of Dreams was closely linked to that individual, so in a way, there was a connection.

Rubbing his temples, Sanders thought, Initial Heart City, Initial Heart City? Could it be that Angel had ventured into the Nightmare Plane again, ending up in a place called Initial Heart City?

His conjecture was based on the premise that it was hardly possible for Angel to encounter the individual who resembled “Shava” without venturing into the Nightmare Plane.

“Alright, I have one question for you.” Sanders looked gravely at Angel, “The matter you’re about to discuss, do you think it has a greater impact compared to the Silver Palm Island incident?”

Which had a greater impact? Angel pondered for a moment, synthesizing the information he received from Freud, then responded, “For now, the Silver Palm Island matter has a larger impact.”

Sanders retorted, “You mean that it will have significant implications in the future?”

Angel personally felt it was hard to say because too many powers within the Wilderness of Dreams were still not under his control, and it would require a long period of observation to confirm.

Seeing Angel’s hesitation, Sanders conceded, “Alright, we can discuss this later. Tell me, why did you come to the Abyss to find me?”

“I came to the Abyss to find Mentor because…” Angel hesitated for a while, but finally spoke up, “It’s because of the physical condition of my enlightenment mentor.”

Sanders raised an eyebrow, surprised that Angel’s reason for coming to the Abyss was this matter.

Because back at the Barbie Restaurant, he had promised Angel that if Angel couldn’t help his enlightenment mentor, he would step in to offer his aid.

Thus, upon hearing Angel’s words, Sanders inquired, “Are you suggesting I assist you in rescuing him?”

Upon uttering those words, Sanders couldn’t help but reflect inwardly: saving people, seeking revenge, manhunts… how wonderful are these Mundane Affairs? Alas, he hoped that Angel’s future would be filled with such mundane affairs, or else his heart might indeed succumb to fright.

Sanders’s contented train of thought was abruptly derailed as Angel added, “Indeed, my intent is for you, Mentor, to save him. However, his background may not be as ordinary as it seems…”

Out of the ordinary?! A tremor raced across Sanders’s forehead, a gut feeling of foreboding striking him.

“He is, in fact, from a different plane.”

At that revelation, Sanders found himself wishing for Angel to fall silent. He had a sinking sensation that Angel was about to reveal some earth-shattering secret.

His premonition proved accurate as Angel continued, “During our time at Barbie Restaurant, Morrow mentioned that when he ran tests on Jon, the results indicated he was human. This indeed aligns with the truth. Jon hails from a different plane, yet he is also human.”

The statement struck like a thunderclap in a clear sky.

A human from a different plane? If word of this were to leak, it wouldn’t merely attract the attention of the Extreme Sect; it would shatter the entire wizard community’s understanding and perception of what it means to be human!

Sanders pressed his lips together, striving to calm the stormy sea that his emotions had become.

He had anticipated that Angel’s revelations would resemble a roller coaster ride, with its ups and downs. In reality, it was more akin to a suspended roller coaster, perpetually hanging in mid-air, never providing a moment’s reprieve.

Sanders heaved a deep sigh. Rumours had circulated that he had taken on the most trouble-free apprentice. In truth, among all his apprentices, Angel was the one who caused him the most headaches!

“Do you comprehend the magnitude of the impact this revelation could create if it were to be exposed?”

“A bit,” was the reply.

“To a combat-oriented wizard like myself, this perhaps won’t stir too much of a ripple. However, for those dogmatic academic wizards, and Karabit inhabitants, this matter is enough to drive them to madness!”

Having spoken, Sanders for the second time that day expressed with the same look and tone, “This matter must absolutely not leak!”

In a small voice, Angel admitted, “…However, some wizards already know.”

Sanders’s heart sank, and he felt a sudden desire to wash his hands of the whole affair.

In the hushed whispers of the dream realm, Angel relayed a meticulous narrative of his recent return to Pat Manor, capturing each flicker of reality with masterful precision.

His discourse was succinct this time around, focusing primarily on the demeanors of Suis and Eureka, and on the current condition of Jon’s injuries.

Once Angel had concluded his narrative, Sanders was left in a state of vexation.

The circumstances surrounding an outworld human were already complex enough, yet now they found themselves intertwined with the mystery of Guman’s treasure.

However, surprisingly, Sanders seemed to regard the mystery of Guman’s treasure with an air of nonchalance, as if it were a commonplace occurrence within the vast tapestry of his experiences.

After all, in comparison to the earth-shattering revelations brought forth by Angel, Guman’s treasure was nothing more than a ripple in the vast ocean of knowledge.

Silence wrapped Sanders for a moment before he spoke, “I cannot guarantee that I can heal Jon’s injuries, but I will strive to make every possible attempt.”

This determination sprouted not merely due to his gratitude to Angel as his enlightenment mentor, but also from the inherent duty he bore as a wizard — he could not simply turn a blind eye to the precious existence of an outworld human.

“As for Suis and Eureka, based on your account, it seems their primary concern is their own affairs. However, the winds of change are ever unpredictable. Once I meet them, I will engage in detailed discussions.”

Upon hearing Sanders’ agreement, a sigh of relief escaped Angel’s lips.

His primary purpose in venturing to the Abyss was related to Jon. Now that Sanders had agreed to lend his aid, the journey felt worthwhile.

Having wrapped up the topic of Jon, Angel had initially intended to pivot the conversation towards the Wilderness of Dreams. However, Sanders suddenly paused, indicating a change in rhythm.

“Hold on for a moment, someone seeks my audience outside.”

As Sanders perceived a visitor from the external world, he felt a momentary relief in his heart.

Leaving the Gravity Garden, Sanders guided Angel to his study for the time being, before excusing himself. The wizard’s study became a temporary sanctuary for Angel as Sanders stepped into the unknown, leaving him in solitude.

The one Canter sought had appeared.

Upon Canter’s arrival, he immediately conveyed, “I’ve just received a cryptic message. There’s suddenly martial law being implemented in the demon city below… Sineva has requested your presence.”

A shadow of concern fell upon Sanders’ face, “Why would martial law commence in the demon city? Could it be, has ‘The One’ chosen this passage?”

With a grave demeanor, Canter responded, “That’s hard to pinpoint, however, the appearance of Sineva here could already be an ominous harbinger. Perhaps, Watchtower Fortress stands a chance, and might be the frontline of this impending conflict.”

The term ‘The One’ was a coded reference to the Descendant of the Demon God.

According to a prophecy received beforehand, a descendant of the Demon God would traverse three layers. Mengke’s objective was to hunt down this particular descendant.

However, the origin of the Descendant’s passage remained elusive, leading to the establishment of the eight frontlines across the Abyss.

Presently, the unexpected implementation of martial law in the demon city beneath Downfallen Forest was a rare occurrence, strongly suggesting the arrival of a formidable figure. Such a figure could either be a rare great demon or a noble under the command of the Demon God.

This unforeseen turn of events left Sanders rather unprepared.

And the timing couldn’t have been more ill-fated!

“Just moments ago, after receiving the message, Samantha has already proceeded to the inner layer to gather intelligence. Sineva has summoned all the paramount forces within the fortress.”

“I’ll make my way there immediately,” Sanders paused briefly, then inquired, “By the way, where is Dongola currently?”
