Chapter 1022 Solidifying the Spell

Chapter 1021 The Gateway Model <TOC> Chapter 1023 The Abyssal Wind Dragon

During this period of learning, Angel, in fact, had been closely observing the properties of that special energy. In reality, it is embodied as a point of light, capable of manipulating the physical world, yet unprovable by exploration. Paradoxically, within this bizarre dimension, it exhibits some properties of energy.

Despite the lengthy duration of observation and analysis, Angel was still unable to attain a clearer understanding of this special energy. Nevertheless, he could feel it: this energy was far from ordinary. If he missed this, he reckoned he would be filled with regret. Hence, Angel was exceedingly meticulous when dealing with this partially constructed model.

Moreover, Angel had his own calculations.

Any formation of a spell model, generally speaking, ends up in one of two ways: either it is utilized, or it dissipates. In a sense, the persistence of a spell model is unattainable. However, there’s an exceptional circumstance.

That is the Spell Position!

A Spell Position can thoroughly solidify a spell model, framing it at a distinctive location within a mental space. Typically, Spell Positions are considered by official wizards after their formal initiation. However, with a unique guidance method and sufficiently strong mental space, an apprentice can also construct a Spell Position.

Angel’s mental space has long been robust enough to bear a Spell Position. It’s just that he had been unsure about which spell to solidify previously.

In his heart, Sanders hoped that Angel could build an Original Spell, laying the foundation for the Path of True Knowledge right from his apprenticeship. However, he was well aware that the current situation in the Southern Region was rather murky. With two major shadows hanging over his head, even self-preservation was a struggle, let alone dedicating time to create an Original Spell.

So, Sanders suggested building a Spell Position as early as possible, even if it were just an ordinary illusion or an alchemy spell.

Angel’s original plan was to secretly craft a few alchemy illusions with mysterious objects upon his return to the Southern Region, and then draw inspiration from them.

If that turned out to be unfeasible, he wouldn’t mind structuring a frequently used illusion within the Spell Position.

However, man proposes, but God disposes.

Before he had a chance to consider the choice of a Spell Position, a golden opportunity landed on his lap.

Such a spell model that possesses spatial properties is in itself an exquisite rarity, let alone that it resides within his mental space!

Once successfully extended, it can be directly solidified into a Spell Position!

Even though the spell he constructed wasn’t his original creation, it’s not like he absolutely needed an Original Spell. What mattered more to him was whether this spell suited him or not.

During this period of study, Angel essentially fathomed the attributes that this spell embodied. Based on the effects he has inferred so far, they were by no means inferior.

Though he was not yet absolutely certain of its final functionality, the mere anticipated effects were enough for Angel to consider Solidifying the Spell Model into a Spell Position.

Given his intention to solidify this spell model, the half-constructed model within his mental space was naturally his top choice.

The challenge that stood before him now, however, was how to attach the newly constructed rune onto this semi-passage?

After repeated analyses, constantly recalling his previous memories, and running simulations over and over again in his mind, Angel finally decided to start extending it.

Despite his previous inaction, it was not a case of hesitation.

Or rather, given his absolutely rational thinking at this point, the emotion of hesitation simply did not exist.

He simply did not wish to squander all his previous efforts, hence his decision to tread cautiously.

Even if he truly failed, given Angel’s current circumstances, he wouldn’t experience feelings of regret or remorse. Wandering this barren chaotic realm for such an unquantifiable stretch of time, he had long since thoroughly understood this spell.

If he failed, he could always start over and rebuild it, at most lacking the special energy.

Angel was devoid of pressure, and felt no tension. He had already run many simulations — if he were to truly fail, he would have no one to blame.

He manipulated the magic in his magic source, and began extending the half-gateway standing in this chaotic space!

The first stroke of the extension was the most critical.

But Angel showed no hesitation whatsoever. He confirmed the coordinates on the Universal Axis, manipulated the magic, and directly built a rune upon it.

In that immediate juncture of connection, a sensation of wonderment stirred within the shadowy expanse of his mental space.

Much akin to a wind chime set aflutter, its resonant runes emanating outward from the center, rippling like the subtle waves on a tranquil lake.

Within an instant, Angel received a corresponding feedback.

A mix of both jubilation and a tinge of regret.

The jubilation stemmed from the successful prevention of model collapse on his first connection attempt. Regret, however, surfaced as he had utilized magical energy for the connection rather than the unique energy, which inevitably caused certain deviations in the gateway’s performance.

It was as if a pot of rich, delectable soup had been unintentionally diluted with a surplus of water, thinning its once robust flavor.

Nevertheless, he was left with no alternatives as only magic was accessible to him currently.

Upon connecting the first rune, Angel contemplated connecting the second. However, upon closely studying the properties of the second rune, he found himself furrowing his brows.

——Spatial attribute.

Though magic itself is devoid of attributes, it is inevitably associated with an individual’s inherent abilities. Angel’s magic was predominantly tinged with illusionary properties.

Throughout his learning process, Angel had simulated the construction of this particular rune countless times. But now, at the stage of actual application, he found himself questioning his ability to succeed.

However, when he finally initiated the construction process, he found that this particular rune, which he was most uncertain of, was not as difficult to construct as he had imagined.

Despite a hint of mental fatigue midway, he succeeded in establishing the connection without any mishaps.

Despite the successful construction, Angel found himself lost in contemplation.

He had noticed earlier that learning about the spatial aspect wasn’t as challenging as he had anticipated. Nonetheless, he had expected practical application to differ from theoretical learning. But in reality, the difference was considerably smaller than what he had initially conceived.

“Perhaps, the unique energy itself possesses spatial properties, hence compensating for some of the deficiencies?” Angel muttered softly to himself.

This is the only plausible explanation he could surmise.

In the face of an unsolvable conundrum, Angel didn’t fuss over the intricacies. He decided to seize the opportunity of his present mental lucidity to persist in constructing the formation.

But, as he was about to mobilize his magic, he was stunned.

Was his magic source nearly exhausted?!

When he was constructing the first rune, it didn’t require much energy, almost negligible. Yet the second consumed hundreds of times more, was it due to its unique spatial attribute? Or because it was cross-branch cultivation?

Angel began to understand why he felt mentally drained before.

His magic source was nearly depleted, it would be strange if he didn’t feel fatigued!

However, besides the exhaustion, Angel was more concerned about time. Following the symmetry of the gateway, he had to construct at least another 1,345 runes, integrated into more than 300 structures.

Of these over a thousand runes, at least one-twentieth embodies spatial attributes. Each time he builds a spatially related rune, he must rest and meditate for several hours. By this rate, it would take him around a month to successfully construct this spell model.

This highlighted that this spell model was more complex than any Angel had learned before.

After all, if it takes over a month to construct a spell model, there would be no point in casting it.

Of course, this could also be due to Angel’s inexperience and the complexity of the attributes it involved. Perhaps, if a spatially adept person attempted it, it would take less than half a day to construct?

Regardless, it didn’t matter. In this bizarre dimension, he couldn’t perceive the passage of time. As long as he could construct it, a bit more time wouldn’t be a hindrance.

Moreover, the special energy ensured the model wouldn’t collapse over time, granting Angel ample time to construct it leisurely.

He didn’t find it dull anyway, hadn’t he gotten through the learning phase in a similar way?

With this thought, Angel prepared to meditate.

However, as he entered the meditative state, he found his spiritual light sinking.

In an instant, he was kicked out of the bizarre dimension!

Simultaneously, Angel’s emotional template began to reload.

“So, once the magic source is depleted, you’ll be kicked out?!” Angel, with this thought in mind, saw his spiritual light return to its original position, once again merging with his physical body.

When Angel regained control of his physical form, before he could even assess his situation, he found himself suddenly jolted, nearly stumbling to the ground.

It was not due to Angel’s mental lapse, rather the entire earth was trembling, accompanied by the roars of a monstrous being.

Having spent a considerable time in that bizarre dimension, where Angel experienced no emotional fluctuations, he gave no thought to the vexations of the outside world. Thus, when he heard the monster’s roar, it took him a moment to react.

After a good while, he recalled that even before he entered the bizarre dimension, the outside world had already undergone some changes.

The interplanar passage had closed! Sanders hadn’t returned! And… a powerful monster had visited the Whispering Wind Valley!

Upon recalling this fact, Angel was utterly taken aback.

The fact that he felt neither hunger nor thirst and was still holding the Heavenly Eye suggested that even though he seemed to have spent a considerable time in the previous bizarre dimension, in reality, only a few minutes or even seconds had passed?

The relative imbalance of time was something akin to the Nightmare Plane.

However, Angel didn’t have the luxury to dwell on the issue of time at the moment. His main concern was to consider more realistic problems! What was happening outside? What’s with that monster? What is its intent?

Also, what could he possibly do to address the current situation?

Escape seemed unrealistic. After all, the underground cave had only one exit, and once he stepped out, he would inevitably face that unknown monster. Judging from the terrifying howls, it was clear that the monster outside was far from benign.

Angel’s only choice seemed to be to temporarily hide underground.

Thinking this, Angel prepared to maximize the effect of Boundless Silence.

Then, he discovered a dreadful fact: his magic source was empty! Absolutely empty!

Earlier, he had thought of stealthily carving a hole and sneaking away from the underground cave. Now, that was out of the question. In the absence of magic power, it was nearly impossible to create a new exit in the underground cave.

The empty magic source was one thing, but more tragic was the fact that——

Angel realized that the footsteps of the monster seemed to grow louder, it was heading in the direction of this underground cave!
