Chapter 1079 The Lord of Fire

Chapter 1078 The Flameless Lord <TOC> Chapter 1080 Sanders' Doubt

This peculiar power influences not only Angel.

At this moment, the entirety of La Sutherland has come under its mesmerizing sway.

Hues of flame, as diverse as a painter’s palette, ascend from every corner, transforming the erstwhile Abyss of La Sutherland’s night into a dazzling tableau of incandescent brilliance.

These isolated sparks of fire merged into lines, which further interconnected into an intricate network. If one were to observe from the heavens, it would give the illusion of the entire La Sutherland being engulfed in a grand pyre.

This spectacle leaves demons unrelated to the fire element, such as Canaan and Prapa, in a state of bewildering curiosity. Soaring high above, they watch the unfolding changes in La Sutherland with intrigue.

Meanwhile, the pure-blooded Fire Demons, albeit unaware of the specifics, feel a palpable shift in their own flames. It seems to whisper to them about the impending arrival of a “Lord of Fire”, a being far superior to their own rank!

Within a shadowy alley, a half-blood Fire Demon, previously embroiled in a fight with his arch-nemesis, feels a sudden shudder run through its being. Following this tremor, from its physique to its consciousness, it finds itself kneeling on the ground, with pillars of flame erupting from its body.

Its adversaries, encircling it, are utterly baffled by this sudden shift, suspecting some ploy at play. After a moment of hesitation and seeing no immediate threat, they conclude they have been tricked. Enraged, they cry out, “Smoke and mirrors!” They spread their bone wings once again, intent on ending their foe then and there.

However, just as their attacks are about to land on the half-blood Fire Demon, the flames encircling it react as though affronted. In an instant, what was once a tiny flame morphs into a sweeping sea of fire, engulfing all the assailants.

The half-blood Fire Demon gazes in stunned silence at the spectacle before it. A moment ago, it was on the verge of being vanquished by these demons, yet in a blink, it managed to decimate all of them in retaliation.

Gradually, it raised its head.

Its fascinated gaze fixed on the increasingly apparent flame pattern dancing in the sky, as if it saw a furious Lord of Fire, casting a disdainful glance at the enemies already burnt to ash.

Only the majesty of fire is inviolable!

The incident of this fire-element half-demon was not an isolated occurrence. Throughout La Sutherland, strange scenes appeared, Fire Demons all fell to their knees, all chanting in unison for the advent of the flame pattern in the sky.

Even the Young Fire Demon, who was currently outside the Void Obelisk, could not help but look up at the sky.

It was a sense of anticipation, as if every inch of flame on their body was pulsing, waiting for the ultimate dawn.

“Is this the Source Fire that is about to mature? Filled with the power of new life,” Greaves was not seeing the Source Fire for the first time. Its elders had Source Fire, and it too carried some of the characteristics of the Source Fire. Precisely because of this, it was sent to La Sutherland by Olucia in advance to investigate the location of the Source Fire.

But the Source Fire that Greaves had felt before were all a bit desolate, bearing the heavy touch of twilight, from the elders.

It was the first time it had encountered such a vibrant Source Fire, a sensation that deeply fascinated it.

Several kilometers away from the Young Fire Demon, within a lava pool used for forging demonic weapons, numerous Purgatory Flame Slaves also raised their heads one after another.

The flames on their bodies, all flew into mid-air, dancing with the flames of other Purgatory Flame Slaves.

“This is… the arrival of the Lord of Fire!” the oldest Purgatory Flame Slave exclaimed in excitement.

As his words fell, a wave of jubilation spread inside and outside the lava pool.

Every Purgatory Flame Slave boasts a demonic weapon of their own, be it a colossal hammer, a throwing axe, or a broad sword. At this moment, every Purgatory Flame Slave raises their demonic weapon high, crooning their clan’s war song to the fire patterns in the sky.

In stark contrast to the fervent Purgatory Flame Slaves stands a lean one hiding in the shadows behind the massive furnace on the other side of the lava pool. He does not join the dance of his comrades, instead casting covetous glances at the sky. Coiling around him is a crimson chain, snaking about leisurely like a serpent.

Moreover, distinct from other Flame Slaves or fire-element demons, flames burn on his body too, but unlike theirs, his flames remain tranquil without any anomalies.

“Sparrow Blossom? You dare to skulk here!” A buzzing voice echoed from the side.

He turned to see a Purgatory Flame Slave wielding a massive axe, flames dancing around his frame, approaching.

“So, it’s Lord Kaido.” A sly smile graced Sparrow Blossom’s lips, his eyes flickering with an eerie light.

“Why are you not outside, welcoming the descent of the Lord of Fire, and instead hiding here?” Kaido spewed wisps of black smoke from his nostrils, his expression screaming ‘I finally caught you,’ seething in anger.

As Sparrow Blossom was a minion brought in by Lord Kaido himself, his constant disappearing acts denied Kaido any opportunity to showcase his authority, infuriating him. During the welcoming ritual, Kaido thought of Sparrow Blossom. He remembered seeing him in the vicinity earlier. So, he snuck out to find him, aiming to teach him a ‘lesson’ when the opportunity presented itself.

As Kaido advanced towards Sparrow Blossom in smug satisfaction, he realized upon coming closer that Sparrow Blossom had been enshrouded in the shadows, a cryptic smile playing on his lips as he watched Kaido approach.

Initially, Kaido was oblivious, it was only when he observed that not a single flame flickered around Sparrow Blossom that he felt something was off, the fire on its body was uncharacteristically tranquil.

Even as the Lord of Fire was on the verge of arrival, all the fire in La Sutherland danced fervently, so why was Sparrow Blossom so different?

“What’s going on with the flame on you?” Kaido halted, looking at Sparrow Blossom with a puzzled gaze.

As Kaido stopped moving, Sparrow Blossom instead advanced step by step. With a beaming smile, he approached Kaido, his eyes gleaming with excitement and ambition: “You’re asking about the fire on me, I can tell you…”

In the next moment, Kaido saw a flash of red before his eyes. A scarlet chain, ablaze with flame, was thrust into his chest.

In disbelief, Kaido stared at Sparrow Blossom, a thin trail of blood seeping from the corner of his mouth.

“Are you wondering why the fire on you is not resisting?” Sparrow Blossom smirked, laughing like a man possessed: “That’s because, I am a devotee of the Source…”

The voice of Sparrow Blossom was drowned out, Kaido’s eyes fell shut. He could hardly believe that the seemingly frail Sparrow Blossom would suddenly attack. As soon as the chain was lodged into his chest, he was paralyzed, feeling only the chain wreaking havoc within him.

How could a Purgatory Flame Slave, named with a feminine name, wielding feminine weaponry, be capable of killing him?

Moreover, why did the chain evoke a feeling of an object ‘being alive’ in him?

This was the final remaining consciousness of the Purgatory Flame Slave Kaido, yet he would never receive an answer, as he fell into complete oblivion.

After vanquishing Kaido, Sparrow Blossom observed the chain producing a rustling sound, seemingly moving affectionately around Sparrow Blossom’s body.

“It’s almost time. I was fretting about my insufficient strength, and yet, a plate of pastries is delivered before me,” Sparrow Blossom revealed a maddened expression, giving the chain a jolt. “Off you go then. You still need to grow… to bring the Source Fire back to the world of mankind…”

With Sparrow Blossom’s words, the scarlet chain seemed to instantly coil itself around the remains of Kaido.

It seemed as though the chain held an unusual power, gradually wearing down Kaido’s corpse until it was completely digested and disappeared.

As Kaido vanished, the scarlet chain grew even more somber and deep.

Simultaneously, Sparrow Blossom’s body size abruptly doubled!

“The sensation of power, this is what power feels like, Yi Ha Ha Ha Ha……” Sparrow Blossom roared with laughter. However, when he turned his gaze towards the other end of the chain, his laughter abruptly halted.

At the end of the chain, there was a peculiar circular pattern.

——A foggy halo, within it was a darkness so complete it resembled a solar eclipse.

If Angel were here, he would recognize this pattern as being identical to the symbol on the marked abyss alchemist he saw in Sky Mechanical City. This symbol is called…the Profound Mark.

On the other hand, Olucia, who had just exited the Void Obelisk, was feeling the sensation of being completely constrained. However, instead of anger, she felt delight.

The moment the Source Fire was born, its rank naturally suppressed all other flames.

Even Olucia could not escape this.

Were it not for Olucia herself, a Descendant of the Demon God, with an unparalleled innate ability to manipulate fire, she would likely have been led around by the nose by her own flames, much like other demons.

“Greetings, Lady Olucia,” Greaves and Tantin had been waiting outside the Void Obelisk, and as soon as they spotted Olucia, they approached her.

“Have the Greater Demons here made any demands, my lady?” asked Tantin. According to his understanding of Greater Demons, they would not accept conditions without cause.

Olucia responded, “None.”

To be precise, this assembly of Greater Demons dared not put forth any. Olucia was also surprised that Giallar had sent a message to the Void Obelisk.

——Giallar was the strongest Demon Lord under the command of the Flameless Lord.

This time, the light source of the Void Obelisk had been extinguished, with Giallar pulling the strings from behind the scenes.

With Giallar’s intimidation, how could this group of Greater Demons dare to make demands?

“Let’s go. The time is drawing near, it’s about time to meet… him,” Olucia murmured softly, “I heard he is a half-demon? Intriguing. A half-demon who managed to get this far is hard to come by.”

The flaming patterns in the sky affected more than just the city of La Sutherland. Upon a quickly approaching sheet of floating ice in the dark void, others were also impacted.

As they got closer and closer to the location of La Sutherland, all of the wizards entered a state of high alert.

The first to detect the anomaly was, as always, Mengke.

Each and every wizard, to varying extents, has some familiarity with fire spells. Though Mengke was a frost-affinity wizard, he dabbled in the spells of other disciplines.

In the beginning, Mengke noticed an anomaly in the torches on the floating iceberg. The burning embers did not dance with the wind in the void but moved unidirectionally towards one place — La Sutherland!

In his puzzlement, Mengke instinctively conjured a fire spell, and he promptly discovered something was wrong.

Remarkably, the flame escaped his control, and on its own volition fell into the void.

Witnessing this scene, Mengke turned to the crowd and announced, “There’s a change in La Sutherland, all wizards should avoid casting fire spells as much as possible.”

The implementation of this measure delivered a huge blow to those who specialized in fire spells. The fire wizards, forming the largest group within the elemental-affinity, were plentiful. Among the wizards on the floating ice, at least three in ten were fire wizards.

As Mengke’s words fell, it effectively meant these fire wizards, who comprised thirty percent of the total, lost almost eighty to ninety percent of their combat power.
