As the dust settled, this group of apprentices gazed upon the figure of Angel that materialized before their eyes, their gazes brimming with bewilderment and astonishment.

The sudden overwhelming presence arrived indiscriminately, enshrouding everyone and rooting them in place, unable to move. Yet, this blond young man stood undeterred, effortlessly holding his own in the face of the terrifying tendrils?

Every apprentice present, watching Angel descend from the heavens, found their curiosity piqued about his identity.

Upon landing, Angel paid no mind to the wizard apprentices surrounding him, but instead curiously shook his arm.

The peculiar expression on his face was a result of the vine’s thorn. He hadn’t dodged all of them and during his descent, a few had pierced his arm, which he now found a tad painful.

However, despite the pain, after examining it, his arm bore no trace of any wound. Even the spots that had been pricked only displayed tiny white dots, showing no sign of being pierced.

“Has my flesh thickened since my body’s enhancement?”

Angel could sense that the force of the sting was incredibly strong. If it had happened in the past, not only would he have been wounded, but he might have been pierced right through!

For the first time, he truly experienced the changes that had occurred in his own body.

He had managed to withstand an attack of a formal wizard? His initially apprehensive mood regained much confidence in an instant.

The change in Angel’s mood was unknown to the onlookers.

Then, they all heard the sound of something tearing through the sky above. Angel lifted his gaze, watching the figure rapidly approaching from the east.

The source of the awe-inspiring presence that had shaken them was this approaching figure.

As he neared, everyone, except Angel and Greaves, felt the presence intensifying.

Angel was clueless as to why he was suddenly attacked. Initially, he had thought his presence had been discovered and was being observed by a formidable entity.

However, when he caught sight of the true face of the newcomer, a glint of confusion flashed in Angel’s eyes, quickly followed by a hint of realization.

The newcomer was a face he recognized.

He was a middle-aged man, of average height and slender build. He wore a dark green checkered suit, had slightly curly hair, and a face longer than most, with sunken cheeks. He held a slender vine wand in his hand.

He was the only wizard from Gravity Forest who had been with them when Angel and Sineva retreated from Emberstone Titan.

Angel remembered, his name was Zefal, a first-level wizard.

Zefal hailed from Gravity Forest, and Angel’s expression immediately turned cold at this realization. Understanding flashed in his eyes. Angel was well aware of the relationship between Sanders and Gravity Forest. Back in La Sutherland, people from Gravity Forest had ambushed him. If he hadn’t chanced upon the underground passage of the Void Obelisk, he might have lost his life there.

Angel had never given much thought to Gravity Forest, but as soon as they threatened his life, Angel promptly relegated them to his adversarial roster. He speculated that this time, Zefal targeted him due to his identity — unable to deal with Sanders, Zefal chose to confront his apprentice.

But how did Zefal know he was here? Angel glanced around the area.

Not far behind him was a timid and trembling girl, and directly ahead was a group of about ten wizard apprentices. Among these apprentices, Angel spotted someone wearing a wizard robe patterned with green tree-like patterns.

Someone from Gravity Forest? Angel raised an eyebrow.

Upon seeing this apprentice, Angel finally understood why Zefal appeared here. He suspected this person must have leaked his whereabouts. By now, Zefal was already floating not far from Angel.

Zefal did not immediately attack, instead, he scrutinized Angel with an incredulous gaze. He recalled that Angel seemed not to be affected by the oppressive shock earlier? Furthermore, the vine attack he initiated seemed to inflict no harm on him?

Why was this so? Although Angel’s energy levels indicated him as an apprentice, Zefal was cautious and did not act rashly in the face of this anomaly.

However, while Zefal refrained from advancing, Angel, his standoff partner, took the initiative.

Angel bent his knees and gathered strength in his feet, causing the ground beneath him to crack dramatically. With a thunderous boom, a large pit formed under Angel’s feet, and he shot towards Zefal like an arrow released from a bow.

His speed was exceptional. He was near Zefal before the latter could react.

Zefal was surprised by Angel’s proactive attack but didn’t underestimate him. The aura around Angel instilled a sense of unease in him.

With a thought, a spell model he’d engraved in his spell position emitted a green light.

Almost instantaneously, a vine-encased defense shield appeared around Zefal.

Facing this high-level shield spell, Angel didn’t hesitate. His speed remained constant, and his gaze was unwavering as he continued his assault.

In an instant, a series of punches and kicks landed on the defense shield.

At first, Angel felt the shield made of vines was extraordinarily hard, but after a few hits, he noticed a dent in the shield…

Zefal initially planned to prepare a bloody feast of man-eating vines once his shield was up.

He had not taken Angel’s physical attack seriously. His vine shield, be it against energy attacks or physical blows, had an impressive defensive effect. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have set the vine shield as his first spell position upon becoming a formal wizard.

What Zefal hadn’t expected was that Angel’s seemingly overconfident attack was causing him significant trouble——

With the speed of a bolt of lightning, Angel performed a flurry of attacks in the blink of an eye. These were not just any strikes; they were aimed straight at the vine shield, causing his perfect defensive formation to begin to dent and even crack!

Zefal was taken aback. How could his vine shield be shattered so easily?

Zefal was well aware that his vine shield, even when faced with a wizard of the same level, could withstand attacks for quite a long time. It was precisely because of the shield’s support that his other offensive spells were primarily intricate spell models, slow to construct but packing a hefty punch.

With this strategy, against a wizard of the same level, unless they were bloodline related, he had a considerable chance of victory.

As for bloodline wizards, Zefal had a countermeasure. His first spell position built in the apprentice stage was a speed-enhancing trick, and he had items that could restrict spatial displacement. He would never let a bloodline wizard get close!

But Angel’s current attack was almost comparable to a bloodline wizard of the same level!

This left Zefal no time to react, and his envisaged man-eating vine could not be summoned… His shield had broken.

Zefal realized his strategy had gone awry. Had he considered Angel on par with a bloodline wizard, he wouldn’t have been so complacent after constructing the vine shield, and instead of staying put, he would have started building the man-eating vine.

A strategic misstep often leads to a cascade of bitter outcomes!

Once the defensive shield showed signs of breaking, Zefal immediately reinforced it with multiple layers of defensive spells. He also launched a few counterattacks against Angel, all of which were tricks that could be released instantaneously, whether for offense or defense.

For a formal wizard, the strength of these tricks had reached an almost inconceivable level.

At least, any average wizard’s apprentice, or even a half-step wizard, would likely suffer some damage in response.

However, to Zefal’s surprise, Angel showed no intention of resisting. Like a phantom, his attacks continued to strike the newly reinforced shield.

Not being a wizard-level shield, it didn’t stand a chance against Angel’s attacks, not even for a second.

Those counter attacking tricks, when they hit Angel, left nothing but a faint mark, producing no effect whatsoever.

In the blink of an eye, a fist filled with unmatched power appeared in front of Zefal.

Zefal’s reaction was swift. He was also a very decisive individual. With a flicker of energy, the vine wand in his hand disintegrated!

The explosive vine stored in the wand emerged without any warning.

The moment the fist landed, the explosive vine emitted intense energy fluctuations. A bright red light filled the sky, and with a thunderous boom, everyone’s vision was temporarily blinded.

When the light finally receded, people looked up to see a tearing spatial rift in the sky.

Angel’s figure had vanished.

As for Zefal, he was tens of meters away, sweating profusely, looking at the distant spatial rift with lingering fear in his heart.

“Presumably dead, right?” Zefal harbored a sliver of good fortune in his gaze, surprised that he had to play his trump card against a mere wizard’s apprentice. But, luckily, the outcome was as anticipated.

However, while he was lost in such thoughts, a sudden flash of alarm surged through his heart.

A cold wind swept in from behind.

Turning his head, Zefal was startled to find an unscathed Angel standing behind him, sporting a chilling sneer.

In the blink of an eye, a black boot struck him in the neck.

The colossal force caused Zefal’s neck to emit a grating sound, and in the following moment, he transformed into a “meteor,” brutally crashing towards the ground.

The spot he was hurtling towards was a zone shrouded in grey mist.

Following an earth-shaking thud, a significant amount of death aura dissipated. However, a substantial amount seeped into Zefal’s body.

Angel then descended from the sky, his face impassive, but his blood seemed to be boiling with excitement.

Angel had been suspecting that the strength of his physical body might have reached the standard of a formal wizard. However, he hadn’t had the opportunity to test this. Now, after this initial trial, he realized that he was far stronger than he had imagined.

Compared to his past strength, the difference was like night and day.

After Angel’s landing, the surrounding apprentices scattered. The man who had defeated Zefal couldn’t possibly be an apprentice, he was most likely a concealed formal wizard!

Unrestricted by a suppressive aura, they fled in all directions, forgetting their original targets.

Angel paid them no heed, his gaze remained locked onto Zefal.

Zefal was now lying amidst the death aura, looking in a dreadful state. However, being a formal wizard, he couldn’t possibly be dispatched so easily.

Earlier, Zefal’s defeat was primarily because he had underestimated Angel’s physical capabilities, which led to a strategic failure due to the surprise. If given time to recover and prepare a counter-strategy, Angel would struggle in the next confrontation.

Therefore, Angel planned to eliminate Zefal while he was still under the influence of the death aura.

However, just as Angel prepared to advance, a bizarre laugh echoed from behind him.

It was loud, shrill, and sent chills down one’s spine.

Whirling around, Angel saw that the source of the laughter was the little girl who had been chased by the apprentices.

The moment Angel turned his head, the girl’s hand transformed into a spiked large hand that extended instantly, lunging straight for Angel’s heart!
