Following a period of pulsating red, the Firestone slowly began to find its calm.

Stacked like miniature mountains, the fragments of the Firestone finally melded into a palm-sized stone.

The initially perceivable terror of energy accumulation had now completely disappeared.

“Was it a success or failure?” Angel was sure of his success at the instant the alchemy ended. However, after experiencing the excessively simple vision, he was filled with uncertainty.

Could it be possible that he made an error during the alchemy process? Or, maybe, there was an issue with the method described on the scroll?

Since this alchemy process wasn’t of his own design, lacking the infusion of his own concepts, and was merely an attempt to mimic the scroll, he began to doubt himself.

Angel thought for a moment and began to construct a model of the Eye of Nalda in his mental space.

His mental “server” quickly assembled, drawing from his memory, it began to retrieve data and information about the Firestone. After a comprehensive analysis, Angel began the appraisal of the Firestone in his hand.

As the conclusion was reached, Angel was struck dumb.

“It really is the Firestone?!” Angel, receiving information from the server, wore an expression of utter disbelief. He had mentally prepared himself for the possibility of an incomplete version. Yet, the final conclusion was — he had genuinely succeeded in the alchemy!

Looking at the Firestone in his hand, though its exterior showed no energy fluctuation, this was merely a return to its unadorned state. According to the records, the Firestone housed an almost boundless amount of fire-element energy!

However, Angel still couldn’t feel that he had crafted an item regarded as one of the finest spell mediums in the Wizarding World.

The process of alchemy was too smooth, and the experience in the Vision Space was far too simple, making him feel it was a bit of a farce.

However, with reality staring him in the face, there was no chance of an error.

After pondering for a while, Angel speculated that perhaps this was the difference between synthesis and alchemy? Synthesis merely integrated the fragments of the Firestone, with very little involvement of alchemy, hence the simplicity of the vision?

This was the only reason Angel could come up with. Based on his understanding of the Vision Space, this might well be the truth.

Angel had originally planned to test the effects of the Firestone. However, he had already sensed a terrifying energy reaction outside the door.

Angel hesitated for a moment, then, holding the Firestone, he opened the door.

As soon as the door opened, he saw Odeklaes standing outside. His hair, reminiscent of red silk, fluttered in the wind and snow, like dancing flames.

Odeklaes did not look at Angel, but instead, his gaze fell directly onto Angel’s palm.

The crimson stone, although devoid of any energy feedback, inexplicably attracted Odeklaes.

Only when Angel respectfully greeted, did Odeklaes slowly shift his gaze onto Angel, querying, “Has the alchemy been successful?”

Even though Odeklaes strove to maintain his pride, the unusually gruff and hoarse timbre of his voice inadvertently revealed his internal turmoil.

“My lord, perhaps you should test it out.” Angel didn’t comment on the success or failure. Although the feedback from the Eye of Nalda was genuine, he couldn’t help but feel a little uncertain. So, he responded in an ambiguous manner, offering a buffer if there was indeed a problem.

Looking at the scarlet stone that Angel handed over, there was an undeniable excitement in Odeklaes’ eyes.

He carefully accepted it, meticulously inspected it for a moment, and nodded to Angel, saying, “Follow me.”

Angel barely had time to blink before a gust of wind swept past, and he found himself in a lengthy dark passage.

At the end of the dark passage, there was a faint glow of red.

Odeklaes led the way with Angel closely behind. As they delved deeper into the passage, a wave of heat surged from the front.

Only after they reached the end did Angel discover that this was actually a Fire Crystal mine.

Rich Red Fire Crystals adorned the cave, their cut surfaces reflecting a breathtaking array of light, making the place as bright as day.

Fire Crystals are a type of mid-grade fire element ore, rather valuable. Logically, they should appear in places where fire elements are active. Why are they here? Could this be outside Ice Valley?

“This is beneath Ice Valley.” Perhaps realizing Angel’s confusion, Odeklaes replied nonchalantly.

Inside Ice Valley? Angel felt momentarily dazed.

Who could have imagined that beneath the frosty, wind-swept landscape of Ice Valley, there would be such a rich deposit of Fire Crystals!

Odeklaes led Angel to the central part of the Fire Crystal mine, where the distribution of crystals was sparse, but the area seemed vast, and the fire element was more active in the air.

However, Angel could vaguely sense a frosty aura here, which felt somewhat similar to the aura Odeklaes exuded.

Looking at this vast area, Angel had a guess: could this be where Odeklaes usually resided in his true form?

Angel’s guess was spot on.

In order to delay the encroachment of frost, Odeklaes often stayed here after reverting to his true form, which led to the frosty aura permeating this place.

Being an Abyssal Flame Dragon, Odeklaes wouldn’t have lasted this long without the Fire Crystals here.

This was the best place to test the Firestone. After all, if there was an issue in the Ice Crystal Palace, the consequence could be a collapse.

Amidst the snowstorm, it inhibits the performance of the Firestone, which is why Odeklaes has brought Angel here for testing. Concurrently, the fire energy here could examine the self-recovery function of the Firestone.

During the trial, Angel stepped back to the edge.

Odeklaes slowly activated the Firestone, and with a flash of red light, a terrifying fire energy was released from the Firestone.

In an instant, countless red lights transformed into the illusion of flames, engulfing the entire space.

These flames aren’t real; they are merely energy manifestations within the Firestone. They are incredibly pure fire energy, and if given to a fire wizard, they could serve as reserve energy for releasing fire spells.

At present, this terrifying fire energy is being slowly absorbed into Odeklaes’ body.

At first, Odeklaes was closing his eyes, gradually devouring this fire energy. In the past, he could only sustain the fire source within his body by using the low-level and impure fire energy from the Fire Crystal mine. However, the fire energy released from the Firestone is not only high-level but also free of impurities, making it directly absorbable.

The fire source within Odeklaes, which had long been dried up, was voraciously transforming this fire energy and was still craving for more flames.

In the end, Odeklaes discarded any semblance of restraint, thoroughly indulging in this fiery feast!

Indeed, Odeklaes returned to his dragon form, his whole body enveloped by the energy released by the Firestone, as if immersed in a sea of fire.

This sense of comfort caused an image of the legendary world, ablaze with roaring Source Fire, to appear in Odeklaes’ mind.

Angel was standing aside, silently waiting.

At this point, based on the aura of fire pervading the air, Angel was essentially certain that the Firestone had indeed succeeded.

The apprehension in his heart finally eased.

Two hours later, Odeklaes, satisfied, returned to his human form, placed the Firestone into the Fire Crystal mine to absorb and purify fire elements, and then took Angel back to the Ice Crystal Palace.

Odeklaes stood beneath the mural, not immediately speaking, but sizing up Angel with a deeply meaningful gaze.

Angel’s performance was beyond his expectation.

If a comparison were to be made, to him, Popoca was an inconsequential human. Until now, Angel was barely more than “inconsequential” — an interesting human.

But after this incident, Angel’s status in Odeklaes’ mind elevated significantly.

Almost reaching a level on par with Feng.

If Feng’s painting was to be seen as a beacon, illuminating the way towards Bina Jonis’s revival, then Angel’s Firestone should be regarded as an opportunity, a gateway, opening even more possibilities for Odeklaes.

It was a considerable while before Odeklaes finally lifted his gaze, addressing Angel with a cool demeanor, “You’ve done well, you’ve stayed true to your word.”

After a brief pause, Odeklaes continued in a solemn tone, “Human, you have earned my friendship.”

Angel gave a modest bow, replying, “It’s my honor.”

Prior to this, Angel had learned from Fafnir that Odeklaes had once declared that whomever could bring him a complete Firestone would earn his friendship.

However, due to the scarcity of Firestones, this pledge was left unfulfilled until Angel’s arrival.

Thus, Odeklaes’s Friendship statement didn’t come as a surprise to Angel.

Regardless, earning the friendship of an Abyss Dragon carried significant weight for Angel. Yet, more than a friendship that was ostensibly a mere title, what Angel truly cared about was——

“Lord Odeklaes, about the curse that’s plaguing Toby…”

Odeklaes nodded, “I certainly haven’t forgotten. However, to lift the doom curse, we need to wait until my power has sufficiently recovered.”

Odeklaes simply explained his situation.

Only then did Angel understand that when Odeklaes originally told him that to lift Toby’s curse, he needed to find the Firestone, it was not without reason.

Due to his prolonged stay in Ice Valley, Odeklaes’s powers had been diminished. He must restore his strength to a certain level before he can lift the doom curse.

Odeklaes, initially unwilling and too indolent to explain these deeper intentions, was now more forthcoming. Now that he had bestowed upon Angel his friendship, he didn’t hold back in revealing the intricacies of this matter.

Angel could sense it too; although Odeklaes’s countenance remained seemingly expressionless, the distant coldness he had previously exhibited towards him was gradually disappearing.

“I see, how long do we need to wait?”
