Chapter 1248 On the Ownership of the Source Fire <TOC> Chapter 1250 The Mask

Sanders wore an expression of utter disbelief, as if he were on the brink of exclaiming, “Are you kidding me?”

In the back of Sanders’ mind lurked a terrifying possibility, yet even this hypothesis didn’t extend as far as Angel defeating the imminent combatant.

On one side stood an apprentice, on the other, a Demon God — an imbalance in power that was as stark as a molehill standing next to a mountain range.

Even if it weren’t the Flameless Lord gracing them with its presence, but merely an Avatar of the Demon God, the strength it possessed was almost legendary! If a True Spirit were to descend, surpassing the legendary level would be child’s play!

How could such a formidable Demon God lose to Angel?

Sanders’ countenance mirrored the puzzle that lay in his heart. Angel understood, cognizant that his claim might not be taken seriously. He contemplated briefly, then turned to Sanders, “There’s no one here who can eavesdrop, right?”

Almost instinctively, Sanders nodded, poised to ask Angel about his intentions. But before the words could escape his lips, a faint light flashed from Angel’s bracelet.

The next moment, two cubes of water, frozen by Phantasmagoria Water, materialized out of thin air before him.

At first, Sanders didn’t quite realize what these cubes were. It wasn’t until a formidable pressure hit him that the lightbulb finally clicked on!

He squinted into the translucent blue water cubes, and upon discerning the details within, his pupils contracted and he retreated several steps.

What had he seen?

Two severely battered corpses!

One corpse bore the marks of severe burns, while the other was completely headless! However, this wasn’t the crux of the matter. The crucial point was that Sanders recognized the owners of these two corpses!

Scarred by burn marks, it was Olucia.

The other corpse, half vitrified, through the shattered armor markings and the horrifying aura it emitted even in death, essentially revealed its identity… it was indeed that Avatar of the Demon God who had followed Popoca!

Sanders stared in shock at these two bodies, his expression initially dumbfounded, gradually turned to astonishment, a glint of greed flashed occasionally in his eyes, but ultimately, it transformed into terror and restraint!

Mengke’s much-desired corpse was placed so abruptly and without warning before Sanders, how could he not be astounded?

Furthermore, seeing these two corpses, Sanders immediately thought of the legendary breakthrough method that Mengke had obtained, forcing a breakthrough by leveraging the bloodline of the Demon God… This was also why greed flickered in Sanders’ eyes, who wouldn’t want to ascend to a higher realm sooner?

However, when his inner desire was running wild, another rational personality within him forcefully pulled Sanders back from his lofty fantasies.

Though taking ‘the road less traveled’ is a common affair for wizards, such as learning the shape-shifting spell by grafting the skin of the Softworm, it is a side path. Yet, when it comes to the critical path for future choices, taking a detour is tantamount to seeking a dead end.

Even if one can truly ascend to a higher level with the bloodline of the Demon God’s Descendant, it would mean the future potential is exhausted.

Naturally, Sanders would not wish his future to end here, so after experiencing surprise, covetousness, and greed, he began to consciously restrain himself.

However, even though Sanders momentarily understood this, he still couldn’t calm down about it.

He reseated himself at the desk, buried his head and gently tapped his fingers on the surface, using a special frequency to cool his mind swiftly.

With all his might, he barely managed to calm his emotions.

This was simply because the shock Angel brought him this time was too great!

From the moment Angel released these two bodies, he affirmed the truth of his words. He was no deceiver. In the struggle against the Demon God, he emerged as the victor!

Sanders couldn’t help but cast a glance at Angel, now understanding the gravity of the situation. Previously, when Angel caused a commotion, he himself remained unaware. But now, when he consciously stirs up trouble, the implications are undoubtedly severe!

Fortunately, these two corpses appeared in the Gravity Garden. If Angel had exposed them to the outside world, even if there was not a single person around, countless people would undoubtedly have been drawn to the scene in no time, especially Mengke who would inevitably sense it!

Keep in mind that, some days ago, when Sanders returned to Sky Island, he personally witnessed Mengke emitting a dark aura, prompting Lucci to investigate Olucia’s whereabouts day and night. Moreover, Mengke even sent a message to several other wizards in the Abyss, summoning over a dozen prophecy wizards to Sky Island to follow up on the investigation!

If the situation here were to be exposed, it would be earth-shattering news!

However, if they could successfully conceal it, the benefits would be unimaginably vast!

Even without resorting to the Demon God’s bloodline, there is more to the corpses of the Demon Gods than just the bloodline. These two bodies, especially the headless one, each part of them could be deemed a treasure!

Take, for example, the porcelain exterior. With a little bit of melting, even if it isn’t handled by an alchemist, as long as you solidify a transformation spell, it can be used as advanced armor!

Sanders felt a resurgence of greed in his heart, but reason ultimately triumphed over desire.

Subduing his inner thoughts, Sanders looked at Angel.

“I really don’t know what to say about you. The ‘surprises’ you’ve given me come wave after wave,” Sanders massaged his throbbing temples, stood up and said, “The business of the Wilderness of Dreams is not yet finished, and now this has happened…”

Sanders wanted to reprimand him, but in the end, he held his tongue.

Even if Angel was indeed causing trouble, the benefits obtained were there for all to see. As a mentor and student, and part of the same lineage of Phantom Island, their interests naturally aligned.

Though Sanders spouted criticisms aloud, within his heart brewed a masochistic sense of gratification. More peculiarly, a clandestine pride swelled, alongside a commendation he couldn’t bring himself to voice.

Sanders, in his overtly honest, critical manner, uttered a few words before the conversation began to orbit around the two corpses.

Foremost, how should he handle these two corpses? Sanders remained uncertain. He even perceived the Gravity Garden as an insecure location for them. Ultimately, he chose to entrust the bodies to Angel. Not only did the corpses’ ownership lay with Angel, but Angel’s Blood Night Sanctuary could also effectively shield against prophecy spells.

Placing them in the Gravity Garden, although it could ward off prophecy spells to a certain extent, would still fall short compared to the shielding effectiveness of the Blood Night Sanctuary.

Once the issue of accommodation was settled, the subsequent course of action could wait. In the foreseeable future, whether it’s rescuing the otherworldly human——Jon, or studying the Wilderness of Dreams, Angel’s assistance would be indispensable. It would not be late to ponder upon it then.

Redirecting the topic, Sanders cast a complex gaze at Angel, “Now, it’s time for the detailed account. What exactly happened then? The combat between you and the Flameless Lord, what’s the story? How did you manage it?”

Since Angel had already displayed the two corpses, it was unlikely for him to conceal anything.

“In truth,” Angel said, “to say that I defeated the Flameless Lord isn’t accurate. The one who truly overpowered it, was Him.”

Angel began to recount from the moment Olucia fought against the Flameless Lord. He mentioned virtually every detail, including how the Flameless Lord used the purple and white Source Fire to seal Olucia’s soul, and how the Cruel Scholar’s relic lured the Flameless Lord… Every incident was narrated meticulously.

When Sanders heard Angel had rejected Popoca’s advice to use the relic, his brows twitched in anticipation.

What could Angel have done against the Flameless Lord without utilizing the relic?

It seemed there was only one possibility.

“Are you again calling out to something like what happened during the Shadow Demon Castle ordeal?” Sanders voiced his uncertainty. During that incident, the factors of time and location were decidedly in Angel’s favor, facilitating the tumultuous affair of the Shadow Demon Castle. Replicating such a feat is indeed a Herculean task.

Angel shook his head, relaying the specifics of the situation.

“So, it was Him.” Sanders’ face didn’t reveal much surprise. When Angel grew physically stronger, he had already surmised certain possibilities.

“At that moment, my consciousness had slipped into oblivion, and the specifics of the events unfolded later, gleaned from the memories ‘He’ left me with,” Angel continued his narrative. “At first, it seemed like he was attached to me, capable of matching the power of the Flameless Lord.”

As Angel narrated his tale, Sanders was cataloging and analyzing the details within the recesses of his mind.

From Angel’s explanation, it seemed like the man hadn’t made an appearance in his True Form. Instead, a sliver of consciousness attached to Angel was sufficient to fight evenly with a half-step legendary Demon God Avatar. How formidable would his real strength be?

Just as Sanders was secretly pondering the man’s actual power, Angel once more subjected him to the emotional rollercoaster of revelation.

“…Later on, the Demon God used its True Spirit, its strength skyrocketing… my body was harmed, and his consciousness departed, battling the Flameless Lord solely on the strength of his mental presence.”

“And then?”

“Just a single blow. It took merely one blow, and the Flameless Lord’s skull was shattered.”

Sanders was a picture of disbelief.

A Demon God, having already employed its True Spirit, was annihilated with a single blow by that man?

“That’s not all, after annihilating the Demon God’s Avatar, he again used a single blow, extinguishing the Flameless Lord’s… True Spirit.”

This time, Sanders was left completely gobsmacked!

“You mean, the True Spirit of the Flameless Lord?”

Angel nodded, “Yes, precisely because the True Spirit of the Flameless Lord shattered on the Tan Continent, the escaping True Spirit power saved the Tan Continent from capsizing.”

Angel’s words were lost on Sanders, whose mind was completely occupied by one thought: “The True Spirit of the Demon God is already shattered!”

The power of the Demon God was primarily divided into three major components: True Name, True Spirit, and True Form!

Now, with the demise of the True Spirit of the Flameless Lord, it signifies a dramatic decline in the Flameless Lord’s power, a decrease that surpasses a mere numerical one-third; it’s far greater! In fact, it could even tumble from its seat of Great Demon God!

Simultaneously, this implies the dispelling of the ominous “Shadow of the Demon God” that has been a source of worry for all the wizards in the Southern Region due to Lord Mengke’s hunting plan.

For now, the Flameless Lord is too preoccupied with its own concerns. How could it still have the power to invade the Southern Region?

Sanders was in a trance for a long while. Just a moment ago, he was speculating on the extent of that individual’s power.

Now he realized that he might not even have the qualification to speculate.

Because in the Southern Region, there might not be any legendary wizards at present, but there were many legends in the past, hence there are quite a few records of legendary wizards. As a key figure of the Savage Grottoes, Sanders naturally knew many legendary tales. Therefore, he could reflect upon those stories to roughly gauge the power of a legendary figure.

But above the level of the legendary, he had no information apart from the term “Miracle”.

And the power of that individual, who shattered the True Spirit of the Demon God with a single strike, has obviously reached an indescribable realm of power, surpassing the legendary!

How could he possibly Ponder about that?
