Chapter 1356 Meet Up <TOC> Chapter 1358 Infinite Battle Tower

“Angel, she is…”

Angel replied, “She’s an old acquaintance of mine, just visiting for a bit.”

An acquaintance? Leon remained somewhat puzzled, uncertain about their veiled conversation. Noticing Angel’s reluctance to delve deeper, Leon decided not to press further.

Subsequently, they attended two matches.

One was an elemental side clashing with the mysterious side, and the other was an intense conflict among those with bloodline powers. Both matches were evenly matched and, in terms of spectacle, were decidedly more enthralling than the previous ones.

From these two contests, Leon gleaned insights into the confrontations between the transcendent. Especially the fights among those with bloodline powers proved most enlightening for him.

The duel between the bloodline apprentices lasted a full hour. Initially, Leon thought their close-combat skills weren’t particularly impressive. However, as their bloodlines began to evolve, Leon realized their combat power surged dramatically.

Furthermore, with a mix of magical tricks, elemental maneuvers, and mental disruptions, the battles were riddled with unpredictability.

Witnessing this, Leon finally understood why Knight Sabel always lamented: having reached the pinnacle, seen the distant horizon, yet unable to cross over.

That is the boundary of the transcendent.

After the two exhilarating matches, they decided not to continue watching.

Firstly, Leon needed some quiet time to reflect and assimilate his observations. Secondly, the time for Angel’s appointment with Glen was nearing. So, after the matches concluded, they headed towards Infinite Battle Tower.

Infinite Battle Tower is, in fact, nested within Sky Tower, precisely on its sixteenth floor. When they arrived, they were greeted by the sight of Glen, a melodramatic teenager draped in skeletal ornaments, waiting at the entrance.

At the moment, Glen was leaning against the doorway, conversing with a brawny, bald man.

“I can’t help you with that. Your mentor is that Mad Bear, and no one can influence him. Plus, there’s bad blood between him and my mentor. If I step in, I’ll just end up with a black eye… Even Lady Melanctha can’t intervene. I have no grounds to request her assistance.” As Glen was laying out the situation, he spotted Angel approaching and quickly brushed off the bald man, saying, “I need to attend to something. We’ll discuss your matter later.”

“Hey, wait! If we leave it for later, my mentor will skin me alive!” The bald man tried to continue, but Glen had already sidestepped him, heading off into the distance.

“You’ve arrived? I’ve gathered the information. Let’s discuss inside,” Glen greeted with a friendly grin.

Angel nodded in agreement and, as they ventured into Infinite Battle Tower, casually inquired, “You’re acquainted with Bismarck?”

Bismarck was the bald man who had been in discussion with Glen earlier.

Angel had previously encountered Bismarck at Moonset Port in Greenrose Kingdom on the Feran Continent, where he was overseeing operations for the White Shell Shipping Company branch.

“You know Bismarck too?” A tinge of surprise colored Glen’s voice. Seeing Angel’s affirming nod, he murmured under his breath, “Why hasn’t Bismarck ever mentioned this to me?”

“Hmm?”

Glen clarified, “It’s just unexpected. I never imagined you’d know Bismarck. He’s a close friend of mine, but he got into some trouble a while ago and was sent by his mentor to the White Shell Shipping Company for some character-building. He snuck back this time, hoping I could intercede on his behalf with his mentor.”

While the duo continued their conversation, Glen led them into a secluded reception room.

“Since you’re acquainted with Bismarck, shall I call him over?”

“No need. I’ve only met him briefly; we aren’t close.” Angel replied, “Let’s get to the point. Have you found any news about David?”

Glen shook his head. “No, he hasn’t reached the summit of the Underground Market’s Sky Tower… However, a friend told me that David’s mentor, ‘Rose Crown’ Liana, had sent a letter saying she would be attending a fragrance auction in Sky Mechanical City soon. If Liana is coming, I suspect David might join her.”

Angel felt a tinge of disappointment at not having news about David, but Glen’s next words lifted his spirits a bit.

“As for the ‘Blackberry Queen’ you mentioned, I have found her. She’s been competing in Infinite Battle Tower and is now on its fourth floor. She has an impressive track record, undefeated so far.”

Blackberry Queen was none other than Nausica!

Although Angel had previously heard from David that Nausica was doing well, it was still second-hand News of Friends. Now, knowing she was competing in Infinite Battle Tower confirmed that her integration with her bloodline had been highly successful, putting Angel’s concerns to rest.

Unfortunately, Nausica was not currently in Infinite Battle Tower.

The competitors in Infinite Battle Tower were all quite formidable. Each match lasted a long time and drained a lot of energy. Although Infinite Battle Tower, like Sky Tower, was open around the clock, continuous battles were unlikely. Nausica had just fought a prolonged battle today, and rumors suggested she expended a lot of magical energy. She had left soon after the match ended.

Considering the rate at which Nausica regains her magic, she might only be fully recharged by tomorrow.

Thus, meeting her today was out of the question.

Angel expressed gratitude to Glen. Regardless of Glen’s underlying motives today, he had, at the very least, saved Angel a significant amount of effort.

Upon hearing the thanks, a glint appeared in Glen’s eyes, his spirits lifting. However, this surge of excitement remained unspoken, as he strove to maintain his composure.

“It’s getting late; I should be on my way,” Angel mentioned, rising to bid Glen farewell.

In truth, he wanted to inquire about Shalem’s whereabouts. According to what David had said, Shalem would likely be in Sky Mechanical City by now. But after some consideration, Angel decided not to press Glen further. If Shalem had indeed arrived, he surmised that Nausica would have already rendezvoused with him. Meeting Nausica the next day might provide a lead to Shalem.

Glen paused, taken aback as Angel began to leave, and quickly asked, “Will you participate in the Novastar Competition?”

Glen’s previous venture to the Savage Grottoes to find Angel had dual purposes: firstly, to meet his idol, and secondly, to best him. This complex whirlwind of emotions had persisted from that moment up until now.

Angel shook his head, “No.”

A flash of disappointment crossed Glen’s face. He wanted to ask for a reason, but by the time he looked up again, Angel had vanished.

At the mansion outside the main city.

Upon their return, the Magic Eye butler Number 1 approached them, saying, “Young Master Pat, the Master awaits you in the study.”

Angel nodded in acknowledgment, instructing Number 1 to accompany Leon back to his room, while he himself proceeded towards Sanders’ study.

When he entered the study, Sanders stood by the window, his lips moving as if in conversation with someone. He gestured for Angel to sit, and after a significant pause, Sanders approached.

“Just moments ago, I was informed by our resident wizard from the Savage Grottoes that agents of the Frost Moon have arrived. The one leading them should be familiar to you.”

Meeting Angel’s puzzled gaze, Sanders slowly said a name: “Bruen.”

“Bruen, the Brown Sugar Servant?” Angel asked with some surprise, “Didn’t Mentor mention he consumed an Olaf Tentacle Crab and was cursed by doom?”

“Indeed,” Sanders paused, “However, he employed a certain spell to counteract a portion of the curse, but its roots remain. Coming to Sky Mechanical City, he seeks a complete solution.” He continued, “Aside from Bruen, Winchester is also here. Their main purpose isn’t you, but resolving their issues. Thus, concerning Frost Moon, you need not worry too much.”

Regardless of whether Bruen and Winchester could see through Angel’s illusion transformation, given Angel’s current power, he had no reason to fear them.

Moreover, with Bruen’s lingering curse that plagued him for half a year, he likely isn’t keen on pursuing Angel. His primary mission is likely to rid himself of the curse in Sky Mechanical City.

Hearing this, Angel let out a sigh of relief. He wasn’t eager to engage with Frost Moon’s agents.

With Frost Moon out of his worries, Angel shifted his attention, asking, “Have there been updates from Black Castle?”

Mentioning Black Castle, Sanders’s expression turned odd.

He shook his head, “I visited Black Castle’s outpost in Sky Mechanical City. Strangely enough, it’s only apprentices there. The formal wizards were summoned back quite some time ago. Moreover, according to these apprentices, they haven’t been in contact with Black Castle for a while now.”

“Has there been a disturbance at Black Castle?” Angel knitted his brows in concern.

Sanders shook his head, deliberating his response. “It’s hard to pinpoint. I had approached Rosen for some clarity, and while he hinted at some knowledge, he remained tight-lipped about the specifics. But he did let slip that about a month ago, he had been in contact with ‘Twilight Queen’ Isabelle.”

Black Castle has largely been under the control of Isabelle. If she’s been in touch with Rosen, it signifies that Black Castle hasn’t entirely severed its connections with the outside world.

Yet, why hasn’t there been any communication with Black Castle’s local representatives?

Reflecting, Angel remarked, “Come to think of it, Lady Gloria merely took refuge in Black Castle for a brief period. It’s rather perplexing that those seeking her at the time came from Black Castle.”

There’s undoubtedly more to the story than meets the eye. Black Castle seems reluctant to spill the beans, even neglecting their own stationed representatives here.

“From the look of things, it seems unlikely that we’ll get a response from the local representatives of Black Castle,” Sanders mused, pausing for a beat. “Perhaps we should head straight to Fairytale World.”

Silent Hill, another wizard organization within the same world, might have some insights. If push comes to shove, knocking directly on their door isn’t out of the question. While it may seem presumptuous, given Sanders’ realm, a clear explanation would typically suffice.
