“When it comes to loss of control, it brings me to my current primary responsibility. I am a Mysterious Hunter under the Orderly Guild, and my chief duty is to reclaim Uncontrollable Mysterious Objects.” Frost began by explaining his line of work.

With Frost’s narration, an image, previously unknown, gradually unfolded before one’s eyes.

The so-called Orderly Guild is a super organization in the Source World. Anyone from any wizard organization can join, even wandering wizards. The primary purpose of the Orderly Guild is to reclaim these Uncontrollable Mysterious Objects, to prevent them from causing greater catastrophes.

Frost, indeed, is one of the Mysterious Hunters of the Orderly Guild. Though titled a ‘hunter’, in essence, there’s only one prey he seeks — these Uncontrollable Mysterious Objects.

“Currently, Mysterious Objects are categorized based on their stability levels. There are mainly three types: Controllable, which is orderly; Half-Uncontrollable, which verges on chaos; and Uncontrollable, which is disordered.”

“Controllable Mysterious Objects are, in reality, those in the accommodating phase. They won’t proactively affect the external environment.”

“Half-Uncontrollable Mysterious Objects can be controlled under specific conditions. If these conditions are lost, they will go out of control.”

“As for the Uncontrollable, as the name suggests, they’re almost impossible to control. If you meet the conditions this Mysterious Object demands, it will spread its disorder relentlessly.”

After Frost finished explaining, Angel, still in a state of confusion, wasn’t entirely clueless, but there was a faint feeling of a veil obscuring clarity.

After a moment’s reflection, Frost elucidated further, “Let me give you some examples; perhaps that will make things clearer.”

“Controllable objects, the orderly ones. In the Southern Region, almost more than eighty percent of the discovered Mysterious Objects are of this type. Take, for instance, the Mystery of Starlight belonging to the Crown Star Church.”

“The Mystery of Starlight is indeed powerful, but its main controller remains the prophecy wizard of the Crown Star Church. Its nature is highly stable, with no chance of spiraling out of control.”

Frost’s eyes glinted with awe as he mentioned the “Mystery of Starlight.” He was well-aware that the four corners of the Wizarding World possess powerful Mysterious Objects, many of which are irreplaceable even in the Source World. The Mystery of Starlight was one such object.

Regrettably, due to the ancient covenant, he wouldn’t dare to rob it from the confines of the Wizarding World.

Angel also knew of the Mystery of Starlight. Its power reflects the future sky, acting as a medium that aids prophecy wizards in their Star Observing endeavors. It’s a Mysterious Object so powerful that it requires a “cooling period.”

The Star Observing Day of Crown Star Church is, in reality, the day the Mystery of Starlight is activated. This event happens every six months, which is the preparatory or ‘cooling’ period for the Mysterious Item.

After providing a Controllable example, Frost continued, “Half-Uncontrollable refers to Mysterious Objects on the brink of chaos. This Half-Controllable state is unique. While it may seem bound, it doesn’t mean it’s steady.”

“In most cases, Mysterious Objects with a ‘sole-master’ nature are considered Half-Uncontrollable.”

“‘Sole-master’, in another sense, means loyalty to a specific owner.”

As Frost spoke, he suddenly thrust his hand into his own chest.

Angel was taken aback. However, upon closer inspection, he realized that even though Frost’s hand penetrated his chest, there was no blood. At the point where the hand met the chest, a subtle ripple of spatial property could be felt.

For anyone watching, Frost’s actions would have been profoundly disturbing.

After a while, Frost retrieved a pitch-black flute from within his chest.

The material of this flute was challenging to discern. Angel, feeling somewhat reluctant, refrained from using his Eye of Nalda to inspect it. At a glance, the flute exuded a cold austerity, reminiscent of bone. Furthermore, it appeared to be crafted from a single piece, devoid of any additional embellishments or materials. Although its design was simple, its monolithic construction lent it an understated elegance in Angel’s Eye of Nalda.

When the flute manifested, Angel observed that Frost didn’t even move a finger; the keys on the flute began to dance autonomously.

A melody emerged, lavish in tone but with erratic twists, creating an eerily whimsical tune.

Listening to this melody, Angel felt a whirlwind of chaos in his mind. His body seemed to sway dizzily, and a sinister, dark figure, brimming with malevolence, threatened to burst forth from the depths of his psyche.

Suddenly, the music ceased.

With a jolt, Angel’s senses sharpened. Glancing up, he saw Frost twirl the flute as one might a pen, then grasp it firmly. As he did so, not only did the music halt, but the flute was also tightly clutched in his grip.

Angel felt the dark presence within him dissipate, and the bubbling malevolence began to subside.

With a wary look at the flute in Frost’s hands, Angel speculated on its identity. It was probably the Dark Sonata, the cause of Rolando’s sinister alter ego. The mere thought of the flute’s effect sent shivers down his spine.

He couldn’t fathom how terrifying it would be to confront another malevolent persona within oneself.

Indeed, pointing to the flute, Frost declared, “This is the Dark Sonata, a Half-Uncontrollable Mysterious Object.”

Using the Dark Sonata as an example, Frost succinctly elucidated the concept of “Half-Uncontrollable.”

Being “Half-Uncontrollable” meant that under specific circumstances, it could still be managed. For the Dark Sonata, this specific condition was its allegiance solely to Frost; it would not recognize anyone else.

In essence, the Dark Sonata only remains Controllable when in Frost’s hands. If it’s ever lost or if Frost dies, the Dark Sonata becomes utterly Uncontrollable.

“There’s a unique bond, only I can wield its power.” Frost’s gaze upon the Dark Sonata carries the tender affection one might reserve for a beloved.

“Most Mysterious Objects that bond with a master are in a Half-Uncontrollable state. Those that are Half-Uncontrollable need to be registered with the Orderly Guild. There’s a high chance they could go rogue in the near future, leading to irreparable consequences.” As Frost explained this, he turned to Angel, “Now, you might understand why I sought out King Guman for the Scarlet Sovereignty, right?”

The Scarlet Sovereignty does have a master-bonding effect. This bond originates from a magic formation inscribed upon it that traces back to one’s bloodline.

Furthermore, it’s likely that this was an innovation by its creator, not inherently linked to the Mysterious Item.

Nevertheless, given its bonding effect, it’s no wonder Frost went to such lengths to seek out King Guman, eager to see the Scarlet Sovereignty even if it meant striking a deal.

Frost twirled the flute in his hand, proposing to Angel, “Would you like to experience the effects of the Dark Sonata?”

Angel promptly shook his head, declining vocally.

Frost chuckled, “The Dark Sonata’s effect gathers negative energy within, forcibly manifesting one’s darkest persona. It can be a double-edged sword for wizards. This dark persona brings significant power, but it also means you might lose control.”

“But remember, the Dark Sonata recognizes me as its master. Under my command, even if your darkest persona emerges, it can still be reined in by your primary persona. This could substantially boost your power.”

“Consider Rolando. When his darker self took over, his power skyrocketed. Are you sure you don’t want that?”

Angel recalled what Rolando had once mentioned, that the malevolent personality would only heed the commands of its implementer, which means, it would only follow Frost’s orders.

Originally, the directive Frost had given to Rolando’s malevolent side was: “Obey King Guman’s commands and ensure the Scarlet Sovereignty remains intact.”

If this order were altered to “Follow the primary personality’s commands,” it would undoubtedly bolster one’s power immensely.

However, this operates on a premise: the malevolent personality is controlled by Frost.

Which means if one were to develop such a dark side, they would be under the thumb of Frost. Angel remains wary of Frost; how could he possibly consent?

Noticing the evident reluctance on Angel’s face, Frost asked, “Are you sure you don’t want to? Actually, I once noticed a dark shadow within your mentor, seemingly another malevolent personality. Even your mentor possesses one, don’t you wish to give it a try?”

Frost’s tone was seductive and persuasive, but Angel’s resolve was unyielding.

In the end, Frost didn’t force Angel, conceding, “Well, if you say so.”

However, Frost’s words sowed seeds of doubt in Angel’s mind. Especially when Frost mentioned the shadow within his mentor, it reminded Angel of an event in Shadow Demon City… that person, who had a starkly different demeanor, voice, and character from Sanders, yet bore a striking physical resemblance.

Could “he” really be Sanders’ dark side?

Lost in contemplation, Angel wasn’t disturbed by Frost. When Angel finally regained his composure, he noticed a cocktail glass had appeared in front of Frost.

Seeing Angel’s gaze, Frost lifted the empty glass and mysteriously filled it halfway with a clear liquid.

The liquid appeared to be ordinary water, but it exuded a captivating scent. This aroma made Angel feel as though from the depths of his mental space to every extremity of his body, there was an overwhelming yearning.

He deeply craved to drink this water.

This unprecedented thirst seemed to even overpower Angel’s rational thinking.

Angel closed his eyes, continually admonishing himself. But just then, Frost handed him the cup, saying with a playful and enigmatic tone, “This was specially prepared for you. It’ll benefit you tonight.”

Frost’s words, laced with mischief and mystery, only made Angel more restless.

What did he mean by “benefit you tonight”? Could it be some bizarre drink?

I won’t drink it!

I absolutely shouldn’t!

“How delightful!” To Angel’s surprise, these words escaped his lips. When he came to his senses, he noticed that the glass in his hand was empty, and a sweet taste lingered in his mouth.

When did I drink it?

His mind resisted, but his body acted on its own!

With a look of alarm, Angel quickly assessed his physical condition, fearing unforeseen repercussions.

At that moment, Frost suddenly reassured, “Relax, this water is meant to be taken with Heavenly Coeur Wind, and it won’t harm you. If you don’t believe me, examine it with your Eye of Nalda.”

Hesitating for a moment, Angel activated his Eye of Nalda and began inspecting the residual water in the cup.

He could essentially detect the specific materials, and there wasn’t any negative feedback from several unknown ones. Hence, what Frost mentioned was largely true, with likely no significant downside. Its effects appear somewhat like certain protective potions, but the potency of this water is fleeting, lasting only a day.

After Angel examined the residual water in the cup and assessed his own condition, feeling no discomfort, he became slightly more at ease.

Upon reflection, given Frost’s capabilities, if he intended to harm Angel, he had myriad ways to do so; resorting to poison would seem a rather crude method.

Still, a hint of unease lingered in Angel’s heart. All he could do was wait for the day to pass and observe any resulting effects.

Frost didn’t dwell on the subject of the water, treating it as a minor detour, and resumed their prior discussion, “Having covered the Half-Uncontrollable, let’s discuss what concerns you the most and also my hunting target——”

“Uncontrollable.”
