Chapter 1469 An Unattainable Goal <TOC> Chapter 1471 Variables in the Dream Realm

“The harvest tonight is significant; many perspectives were ones I had never considered before. I hope for another chance to engage in dialogue with Wizard Pat.” The elder wizard with a weathered face walked to the edge of the Black Forest, wearing a broad smile.
Angel nodded in agreement, also smiling.
This white-haired wizard was Ivan, who had specifically visited Black Castle yesterday to express his gratitude to Angel.
Angel discerned that while Ivan stated his thanks were for previously aiding the Sky Ghost Ship, he clearly had ulterior motives to strengthen their relationship.
Reflecting on Sanders’ prior assessment of Ivan, Angel found him to be a personable and mild-mannered wizard. Indeed, after a night of conversation, Angel realized that Ivan’s character aligned well with Sanders’ description. He belonged to the classic theoretical academic faction, notably amiable even among white wizards.
Being newly advanced in realm, Angel lacked extensive connections in the Wizarding World. Thus, someone of Ivan’s temperate disposition would actually be a suitable choice for friendship.
Hence, Angel did not reject Ivan’s overtures of goodwill.
This conversation lasted the entire night.
Ivan had initially wanted to prolong the interactions for several days to solidify the budding friendship. However, he noticed that the atmosphere in Black Castle had subtly changed from what it used to be.
Particularly, he had “coincidentally” encountered Lady Kimberly, a witch of true knowledge. While her conversation appeared cordial, the subtext suggested she’d prefer him to leave sooner rather than later.
Though Ivan could have stayed without shame, his visit aimed not solely at Angel but also to mend ties with Black Castle… After all, both Isabelle and Kimberly had returned, and there were now intentions of forming alliances with Phantom Island. Black Castle was poised to re-emerge as a core member within the Fairytale Town Wizard Alliance. Repairing relations sooner would also benefit his own organization, Silent Hill.
Therefore, when Kimberly made it clear she wanted to clear the room, Ivan found it hard to decline. He openly stated he had another research project to work on, and took his leave from Angel.
Now, it was Angel who had escorted him to the edge of the Black Forest.
Ivan looked back at the dim expanse of the Black Forest, its undulating contours fully captured in his view. “You know, I feel like there’s been some change in Black Castle.”
Following his gaze, Angel responded, “Fewer ghosts?”
Ivan nodded, “Not just that, it feels like there’s something to look forward to.”
Ivan looked up at the sky; the previously thick clouds had dispersed, revealing a sliver of sunlight that slowly brightened the somber forest.
The pitch-black forest was gradually blanketed in golden radiance.
Ivan sighed appreciatively, turning to Angel, “This feeling, it’s like the vitality that radiates from you, full of life force.”
Sincerely praising Angel, Ivan then slowly ascended into the sky. “I’m very much looking forward to our next meeting.”
Angel nodded in response.
Once Ivan’s silhouette vanished at the edge of the Black horizon, Angel looked towards the direction of Black Castle, falling into deep contemplation.
Not long after, Sanders materialized out of thin air nearby, like ink gradually spreading on water.
Dressed in a suit and polished boots, with meticulously groomed hair, Sanders was the picture of fastidiousness.
“Has Wizard Ivan left? What’s your opinion of him?”
“Let’s go.” Angel nodded, “As Mentor said, this is a very refined wizard. He possesses the scholarly spirit of an academic, and is also good at listening and communicating. He’s a breath of fresh air in the Wizarding World.”
Sanders raised an eyebrow: “Unfortunately, this kind of breath of fresh air often doesn’t last long in the Wizarding World.”
Sanders knew that Angel wasn’t really from the academic faction and had his own thoughts, but to prevent Angel from actually going down that academic path, he decided to administer a precautionary ‘shot’, so that once they returned to the Savage Grottoes, Wallace wouldn’t divert him to the White Seagull Chronicle Academy.
Angel shrugged noncommittally. He indeed admired the character of Wizard Ivan, but that didn’t mean he would follow Ivan’s path. If he did, he’d probably end up like Ivan — stagnating within the boundaries of the Wizarding World for centuries without making any further progress.
“Let’s go, the feast is about to begin,” Sanders said. “Though this isn’t a big deal, witnessing the transformation of a region is still an experience. Moreover, Black Castle will be a future ally of Phantom Island. So let’s go and see how our future ally is evolving.”
As Sanders finished speaking, his figure slowly faded away. What had been conversing with Angel was merely an illusion.
Angel wasn’t surprised. The moment Sanders appeared, he had sensed the fluctuations of illusion magic. Even though both the material and energy levels indicated that the Sanders before him was real, Angel knew Sanders’ capabilities too well.
However, even if Angel could see through this illusion, to achieve such a feat himself, he knew he had a long way to go.
Angel looked in the direction of Black Castle, took a soft breath, and flew over.
The feast Sanders spoke of was naturally Gloria’s Feast of Purification. Three days had passed since the last banquet. In these three days, Angel had transformed the remaining Infant Spirit and also gathered a cylinder of bullets.
After heavy use of the Prelude of Reincarnation, the number of ghosts in Black Castle had significantly reduced, and the Feast of Purification could basically be deployed.
After some deliberation, Gloria decided to alter the atmosphere of Black Castle today, nipping in the bud the issue of more ghosts gathering as time drags on.
Sanders and Angel were both invited by Isabelle to partake in this momentous occasion.
Angel had no reason to decline; after all, he had played a part in the event that was about to be witnessed.
When Angel arrived over Corpse Forest, the ruins of the original castle were still present. He could see witch apprentices moving back and forth among the ruins. Upon seeing Angel, the apprentices displayed respect; their eyes filled with admiration and, in some cases, even infatuation.
Although the ruins remained, a new structure had also appeared.
A slender column shot up from the ground, reaching for the sky. When it reached a height of more than ten meters, a slow emergence of an elliptical platform occurred.
Overall, it looked like an enlarged Dragon Blood Tree.
Angel’s destination was the top platform of this “Dragon Blood Tree.”
With a slight tap of his toes, Angel took to the sky. For this flight, he didn’t activate the Dark Night Flyover boots, so his speed wasn’t particularly fast. But for him, it marked a milestone.
His flight this time was purely due to his deep control over energy.
If he wished, manipulating wind elements or using mental force could keep him afloat; he didn’t need to resort to any particular gimmick. This was something he couldn’t have even imagined back when he was an apprentice.
It signified a qualitative change in his application of energy compared to his time as an apprentice.
Two minutes later, Angel landed on the platform.
The platform was unadorned, void of any patterns or decorations — a starkly ordinary platform. Only in the middle was there a round table.
Including Sanders, Gloria, and Felicia, they are all present. However, only Lady Kimberly from Black Castle has arrived, along with a few wizards whom Angel had met before during the purification of ghosts.
After Kimberly’s explanation, Angel learned that Isabelle is still in the Corpse Forest, making the final checks and will arrive later.
However, Angel noticed that Kimberly only mentioned Isabelle, but not Isabella.
Previously, when he was transforming the second Infant Spirit, Angel had visited the Living Soul Garden again. At that time, he saw Isabelle and Moriah chatting happily, but did not see Isabella.
Angel didn’t inquire about Isabella’s situation.
So, he didn’t know how the situation between Moriah and Isabella was ultimately resolved.
Now, the importance of the Feast of Purification to Black Castle is self-evident. The fact that Isabelle has not yet appeared makes Angel somewhat curious.
However, he didn’t ask Lady Kimberly about it. After all, not everyone has arrived yet, and perhaps Isabelle will come later, along with Isabella.
Because the feast had not yet begun, the wizards were all whispering among themselves. Angel did not join in their conversations, but instead looked toward Felicia. In her puzzled gaze, Angel took Toby out of his pocket.
In Angel’s palm, Toby obviously felt very comfortable, rubbing his head unconsciously and even letting out a contented burp.
It’s been three days since the event, and Toby still doesn’t seem to have sobered up from his drunken state. Although Angel feels Toby is fine, he plans to ask Felicia about it, just to be safe.
Gloria, sitting opposite Angel, looked at Toby with contemplation in her eyes, “The Coconut Ocean does have a strong aftereffect on Toby, but logically speaking, he should have sobered up by now.”
Felicia pondered for a moment: “I remember you mentioned that it had been unconscious for several months before?”
Angel nodded, indicating that since he had brought Toby out from the Shadow Caves, Toby had remained in a comatose state.
Felicia paused before continuing, “Judging by Toby’s vital energy, it can barely be considered a creature of wizard-level. However, it has not successfully passed through the Tribulation of Resentment, making its current state a sort of pseudo-promotion. In this state, its absorption of external energy intensifies.” She added, “Since Toby has been unconscious for several months, it is now in desperate need of energy. Coupled with its pseudo-promotion, its yearning for energy has become even more urgent.”
Gloria concurred with Felicia’s assessment, “Setting aside the after-effects of the Coconut Ocean, it does contain a lot of energy. I think Toby is likely absorbing that energy now. All being well, it should awaken once it has absorbed enough.”
Felicia nodded but remained expressionless as she stated, “That should be the case, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s a wine thief.”
