Chapter 1522 Cold Winter Sovereign <TOC> Chapter 1524 Scrambling for Classes

The focus of the conversation at the gathering was on Angel and Horus.
However, Horus was not a man of many words. For the most part, it was Wallace who elucidated the reasons behind various matters.
As the wine flowed and spirits soared, the atmosphere became increasingly harmonious.
During this time, Angel also got in touch with Antonio. Utilizing his status as a member of the Research Institute, he granted some authority to Horus. This enabled Horus to make certain decisions on Angel’s behalf, particularly concerning matters between the Savage Grottoes and Research Institute.
After bestowing this authority upon Horus, it would facilitate his future work endeavors.
As for Horus taking over as the point person in charge, there was a somewhat ceremonial banquet scheduled for the evening. This was to take place at the Savage Grottoes outpost, leaving the remaining time largely for casual conversation.
Because this was not a formal social occasion, a few apprentices, including David, Nanaki, and Bass, were also seated at the table, albeit at the far end.
Although the gathering was for the purpose of dialogue, the topics of conversation were still invariably connected to Angel.
The subject matter largely revolved around Angel’s journey to becoming a member of the Research Institute and his subsequent advancement.
On these topics, Angel chose to share certain aspects while omitting private matters concerning Black Castle and anything related to Frost.
These were not forbidden subjects per se, but they were better suited for private discussions.
After Angel clarified these points, although the conversation would occasionally veer back to him, it no longer solely revolved around him, as it had before.
Angel learned from others… or more specifically, Wallace, that certain developments in the Southern Region’s Wizarding World, the Savage Grottoes, and even on a personal level were deeply interrelated.
For instance, the unrest in the Eternal Night Kingdom showed no signs of abating and had even begun to seep into neighboring nations.
Virtually every country adjacent to the Eternal Night Kingdom had suffered to some degree. The only exceptions seemed to be the Fertile Kingdom where Western Demos resides, and the Paramjit Plateau, home of the Savage Grottoes.
The relatively lesser impact on the Fertile Kingdom is due to its border with the Eternal Night Kingdom being a sparsely populated desert, slowing down the rate of infiltration. However, the encroachment is still systematically spreading.
As for the Paramjit Plateau, although its elevated geography serves as a natural barrier, it hasn’t been able to fend off the influx of colorful dragonflies. The reason the plateau has been less affected is related to certain ancient ruins.
Mention of these ruins caused a cloud to pass over everyone’s faces.
To put it bluntly, speaking about recent events related to the Savage Grottoes invariably led to a laundry list of misfortunes. The sole silver lining was Angel joining a Research Institute, injecting a brief moment of vitality into the embattled community.
In summary, the litany of bad luck plaguing the Savage Grottoes recently includes the turmoil in the Eternal Night Kingdom, adding uncertainty to the Grottoes’ future.
The planar fusion initially seemed like a blessing. As long as the final passage ended up in the Paramjit Plateau, it would have been beneficial for the Savage Grottoes. Regrettably, the fusion failed in its final stage.
The Crown Star Church’s prophecy wizards haven’t yet pinpointed the reason.
The series of setbacks isn’t over. Due to the residual energy from the failed planar fusion, a large number of ruins have emerged on the Paramjit Plateau. Among these ruins, one peculiar site has become a cause for concern for the wizards of the Savage Grottoes.
Wizards have gone missing, and colorful dragonflies have congregated… These phenomena are all linked to this eerie ruin. As of now, no one knows what exactly is occurring within it.
Because these ruins are dangerously close to the Mirror World, Lord Rhine Mute has also been maintaining a vigilant presence near them, wary of any adverse effects on the Savage Grottoes.
Certainly, although the ruins are eerie, they currently pose no threat. The real enemies in the Savage Grottoes are the creatures from the Nightmare Plane.
However, these Nightmare Plane creatures are not just confined to the vicinity of the Eternal Night Kingdom. Traces of them have appeared in various locations, including the Talmage Forest Sinkhole in the Noonfield Principality, the Plato Mountain Range on Prison Island, and the Seventh Continent of the Stone Mulberry Dynasty… all marked by the appearance of colorful dragonflies.
This has given everyone the uneasy impression that the Southern Region is in a state of flux, as if a storm is brewing.
The shadow of the Demon God that everyone was initially concerned about has temporarily disappeared due to unforeseen circumstances emerging from the Abyss, specifically the fall of the Flameless Lord’s True Spirit.
However, the shadow of the Nightmare Plane creatures has taken its place, looming ominously over everyone’s heads.
The conversation concluded amidst this oppressive atmosphere, with everyone weighed down by anxiety.
Horus and Wallace had to leave early to prepare for the evening’s Succession banquet, while Liana stayed behind at the manor, keeping Gloria company.
As a result, Angel and David found some time to exchange a few words.
Their conversation didn’t last long; David had to rush off to Infinite Battle Tower due to a competition.
Time passed, and the succession banquet also concluded.
Nothing special occurred during the banquet, but it’s worth noting that Lord Rosen also attended. Although he maintained a calm demeanor when facing Horus, there was a hint of wariness in his eyes.
After all, Horus is a second level true-knowledge wizard who often resides in the Sky Mechanical City. Whether this is good or bad for Rosen remains an open question.
After the banquet, Angel and Sanders embarked on their journey back to the manor.
To maintain a sense of ceremonial propriety, which Sanders valued, they had arrived in a horse-drawn carriage and thus continued to travel back in the same manner.
Inside the carriage, Angel leaned against the soft fur, warmed by the furnace in the center of the cabin. The gentle rocking of the carriage induced a sense of drowsiness in him.
However, at this moment, Sanders suddenly said, “We might need to go back to the Savage Grottoes at some point.”
Angel: “Is it because of the ancient ruins?”
During the daylight hours, Angel had noticed that when Wallace mentioned the ruins, Sanders seemed hesitant to elaborate.
Sure enough, Sanders nodded, “Earlier, Lord Rhine Mute sent information explaining the situation about the ruins.”
The ruins were populated by a large number of colorful dragonflies, and Rhine Mute also knew that this was related to the Nightmare Plane. The one who had the deepest understanding of matters related to the Nightmare Plane was only the lineage from Phantom Island. Therefore, he had already conveyed some information about the ruins to Sanders beforehand.
“That ruin is peculiar; it’s not just about the creatures from the Nightmare Plane. The site itself has some sort of strange characteristics.”
Many ruins exist on Paramjit Plateau, which were forced to open due to the residual energy from the recent planar fusion. Most of these ruins had been explored by the elders of the Savage Grottoes, and many were even occupied by wizards for daily experiments and research.
But that particular ruin was different.
Even before the colorful dragonflies took over, the ruin had exhibited strange properties.
Several formal wizards had vanished inside it without a trace. Subsequently, after the colorful dragonflies took over, the danger level of the ruins escalated even further.
“After all, the ruins are close to the Savage Grottoes, so the risks have to be mitigated. Otherwise, relocating the Mirror World is the only option.”
“And the main reason for having you return there is because perhaps you’re the only one who can truly understand what kind of enigma exists within those ruins.”
