“I haven’t seen a Scroll of Luck in over a century. The last time was at an auction in the Sky Mechanical City,” Farina said, her eyes shimmering with a hint of intoxication. “I must admit, every time I lay eyes on such a scroll, I feel an undeniable sensory thrill. Today is no different. It’s just a shame…”

Pausing for a moment, Farina sighed. “It’s a pity that the Scroll of Luck is so rare in the world and can’t be duplicated. Additionally, the duration of luck it grants is so fleeting; otherwise, its impact could be even greater.”

“I find the rarity of the Scroll of Luck quite appropriate,” said Leon, interrupting. “Luck itself is an elusive force. I even wonder whether it belongs to a category of powers that can be investigated.”

“If luck could indeed be manipulated, it would inevitably lead to its misuse. When that time comes, even the most ancient and enduring civilizations might face the risk of ruin.”

What Leon was expressing touched on an ongoing debate within the Wizarding World: the conflict between choice and destiny.

Choice represents the unknown paths ahead, the so-called variables. Destiny, on the other hand, is predetermined. Being born is a matter of destiny, as is where your bones will be laid to rest.

The power of the Scroll of Luck buries countless choices you may have, leaving you only with what is deemed ‘good’ choices. This, in its essence, is also a form of destiny.

Occasional manipulation could serve as a lighthouse illuminating the splendors of civilization. But if misused, it could undermine the very foundation of society. This is because luck only collapses certain unfavorable possibilities; it doesn’t necessarily enhance good ones or improve the future course of events.

Often, it’s the risky choices, or even those that bring one face to face with death, that can serve as a driving force.

When Leon voiced these thoughts, he was not just echoing Farina but subtly highlighting that there’s no such thing as ‘free luck.’

Angel understood this as well but had no intentions of misusing the scroll or applying it to real-life situations.

In the realm of illusory dreams, let fortune bloom its auspicious flowers. However, in reality, one must return to the starkness of the real world.

After pondering these thoughts, Leon turned to Angel and asked, “Do you need to confirm this any further?”

Angel shook his head. Although it was his first time seeing the Scroll of Luck and he couldn’t immediately verify its authenticity, Farina’s words had already affirmed that it was a genuine Scroll of Luck. Moreover, Angel had sensed the mysterious rune just now.

Without a doubt, this was the Scroll of Luck.

Leon had so readily produced the Scroll of Luck that Angel naturally couldn’t hesitate either. He promptly took out a magic bottle containing the “White-Cheeked Domain Demon’s Forehead Eye” and handed it to Leon.

After Leon examined it, the transaction was deemed complete.

Although the transaction process seemed a bit rushed and cursory, having the Water Ripple Witch Farina as a witness provided even more assurance than a regular trade contract.

After completing the trade, Angel, struggling to contain his excitement, stored the Scroll of Luck in his bracelet.

Deep down, Angel was already itching to head to the Wilderness of Dreams to validate his theories. However, he was merely entertaining the thought; he was still conscientious about his manners.

For the rest of the time, they used the Scroll of Luck as a pretext to discuss some concepts of the Wizarding World.

Although the main theme was an exchange of ideas, Angel felt as if he were listening to gossip. Whether it was Farina or Leon, when expounding on their views, they would often cite real examples. These anecdotes frequently related to events in the Wizarding World, some even revealing secret tidbits, like the private quirks of a certain wizard, for instance… Listening felt somewhat guilty, yet he couldn’t resist wanting to hear more.

As time slowly passed, Angel grew increasingly familiar with Leon as a person.

Leon was not one to hide his light under a bushel. Whether it was sharing hidden treasures or the collision of knowledge and spells, he was always willing to fully express his ideas. These expressed notions provided Angel with many insights.

In these brief hours of interaction, Angel’s gain was perhaps the greatest among the three people present.

It wasn’t until dusk began to settle that the trio’s conversation gradually came to a close.

Farina, having promised Fingernail Granny to temporarily manage the shop, stayed behind at Fingernail Alchemy House. Angel and Leon, however, left together.

Angel initially planned to return to his estate and complete his shape-shifting spell training before studying the Scroll of Luck. However, a comment from Leon led Angel to change his mind.

Leon had two apprentices participating in the Novastar Competition. As it happened, one of them had a match today, and he intended to go watch it.

After some thought, Angel also decided to accompany him to the Infinite Battle Tower.

The reason for his change of heart was serendipitous: Leon would be watching a match in which both competitors were acquaintances of Angel.

“White Rhino VS Shadowflame”

White Rhino was Leon’s disciple. At first, Angel didn’t know who he was until Leon said with a smile, “After going through the Purification Garden, my young disciple often speaks highly of you.”

Upon inquiring, Angel learned that this “White Rhino” was none other than Loki.

Angel had a vivid impression of Loki, for he was perhaps the youngest apprentice he had ever encountered, yet his abilities were not to be underestimated.

Loki looked to be only about ten years old and often rode atop a white rhinoceros. Though his temperament could be a bit unruly, he was not particularly at fault.

Angel was quite surprised to discover that White Rhino was actually Loki. They had crossed paths before during the Purification Garden.

Nevertheless, Angel didn’t plan to attend the match solely because of Loki.

His primary reason for deciding to watch was the other competitor: Shadowflame.

The Shadowflame Witch, Cherie, is precisely the sole disciple of Like the Night, Canter from the House of Lilith.

Angel and Cherie have a fairly good relationship, and he also has a matter to discuss with her. Seizing this opportunity is a convenient way to take care of it.

When they arrived at the venue, there were still five minutes left before the competition started.

The spectator seats were essentially full, and the vast majority were ardent admirers of Cherie. They were vociferously chanting “Cat Lantern Witch,” their enthusiasm escalating as Cherie made her entrance.

This was Angel’s first time attending one of Cherie’s matches, and he was somewhat taken aback.

Cherie is actually rather self-centered, even to the point of being introverted. Angel and Cherie have had some life-and-death experiences together, which is the only reason Cherie can barely tolerate his presence. As for others, she holds them in complete disdain.

Just like now, Cherie paid no attention to the people in the stands who were calling out her name; even her icy gaze occasionally flashed with contempt.

Strangely, this only seemed to rile up the crowd even more.

What peculiar taste is this?

After the countdown ended, the competition officially began.

In fact, both Leon and Angel had already privately discussed that Loki had a slim chance of winning. Therefore, Angel’s attention was not primarily focused on the match.

Instead, he was more interested in some of the finer details, such as the people watching the competition.

Because he recognized several familiar faces in the audience: Hermes, Alan, Sunisha, Carvelyn, and Farja.

Hermes is also Leon’s disciple, and his relationship with Loki is like that of brothers, so it’s entirely normal for him to be in the audience. Alan and Loki probably felt an affinity in their auras and have been mingling in the Purification Garden. Alan also seems to have some connection with Sunisha and Carvelyn; they have often been seen together recently, so their presence here is also normal.

However, when did Farja start mingling with them?
