Chapter 1560 Wild Sand Bear

Chapter 1559 Left Hand? Right Hand? <TOC> Chapter 1561 Scroll of Luck

Two days later, Angel emerged from the Nightmare Domain.

Over these two days, he had been in the Nightmare Domain conducting illusionary simulations of skin grafting. He performed a total of 50 simulations, with 6 failures. Most of the failures occurred on the first day. Because he was grafting the skin onto himself, he had to use a Magic Hand to assist in the operation. Some mistakes were made in the control process, resulting in the failed grafts.

After analyzing the causes of the failures, Angel’s success rate markedly improved on the second day. Apart from a minor hiccup in the first operation leading to a failure, all the others were successful.

Even among similar skin grafting procedures, this would be considered a high rate of success. Other wizards attempting to graft skin onto themselves would likely consider an 80% success rate to be quite good.

The reason for Angel’s high success rate was his expertise as an alchemist, frequently wielding the Magic Hand. Although initially unfamiliar, his finesse in fine control far exceeded that of his peers.

With this level of success rate, Angel felt confident enough to go ahead with the actual grafting. Only then did he wrap up the illusionary simulations and leave the Nightmare Domain.

However, upon leaving the Nightmare Domain, Angel did not immediately proceed with the skin grafting. That morning, he received a message on his communicator from the Water Ripple Witch.

According to the Water Ripple Witch, news had already come from Velite. She had also scheduled to meet with Angel that afternoon at Fingernail Alchemy House.

This was also the reason why Angel experienced a failure in the grafting simulation that morning.

The time for the meeting was fast approaching, and Angel left the mansion to head toward the main city area.

Upon arriving at the Fingernail Alchemy House, he found that the Water Ripple Witch, Farina, was already there, engrossed in conversation with a burly man.

“Sorry for being late,” Angel apologized, a look of regret on his face.

Farina waved her hand, “There’s still half an hour until our agreed time. You’re not only on time but early. As for me, I actually came over yesterday.”

Came over yesterday? Angel paused for a moment.

Farina chuckled softly, “Didn’t you find anything unusual when you came to the Fingernail Alchemy House today?”

“Fingernail Granny seems to be absent?” Angel glanced at the distant counter, where Fingernail Granny usually sat, but now it was Neha standing there.

Neha is a wooden puppet crafted by Fingernail Granny.

“Granny is in discussions at the Research Institute with the Director and others. She asked me to take care of the Alchemy House for her. So, I’m here as a temporary shopkeeper and also get to take some materials back,” Farina winked and said, smiling.

Angel nodded in understanding. It seems Fingernail Granny must be discussing matters related to Lord Ivo, consulting with Director Muse and Lord Beast King. Since this matter concerns the core of the Research Institute, it can’t be taken lightly.

After finishing her statement, Farina introduced Angel to the man sitting across from them, “His name is Leon. Have you heard of him?”

Leon is a burly man dressed in a yellow, sandy-patterned wizard robe, with reddish-brown short curly hair. A scar crosses his brow bone on the left side of his face. He initially appears somewhat menacing, but his smile softens this impression, revealing an unexpectedly cheerful demeanor.

Angel looked at Leon; the first thing he noticed was not Leon’s face, but his shoulders.

Because hanging from his shoulders were a pair of fluffy palms with pink nails. As Angel’s gaze moved in that direction, a small head slowly rose from behind Leon.

It turned out to be a mini sand bear, its black eyes roving around. Upon meeting Angel’s eyes, it displayed a trace of timidity before lowering its head again.

Angel refocused his gaze onto Leon’s face and nodded, smiling, “Of course, Lord Leon is renowned as the most just wizard in the Southern Region.”

Angel wasn’t lying; Leon, known by the moniker “Wild Sand Bear,” hails from the Western Deserts of Demos. He’s well-liked in the Wizarding World, largely due to his fairness and strong sense of honor.

Although today was Angel’s first time meeting Leon in person, he had heard of him quite a while ago. Originally, David took an Illusion Music Box crafted by Angel to an auction at the Ancient River Beach. At that time, when someone mentioned a pirated Illusion Music Box at the auction, Leon stepped in to defend the authenticity of Angel’s creation.

For this reason, even without meeting Leon, Angel already had a favorable impression of him.

“I’ve heard of the great Super Dimensional Wizard for some time and have always wanted to visit. Finally, we get to meet,” Leon said, shaking hands with Angel warmly.

After exchanging pleasantries, everyone took their seats.

Angel was positively inclined toward Leon but still had some reservations in his heart. Why was Leon here?

Farina quickly cleared up his doubts after taking her seat. “Velite contacted me earlier, saying that he’s at a crucial stage of an experiment and can’t break away. He mentioned that someone else would bring the Scroll of Luck, and to my surprise, it’s Leon.”

Leon timely added, “Velite is indeed tied up and couldn’t come personally; he’s quite regretful about it. Since I was planning on coming to Sky Mechanical City anyway, I thought it would be a good opportunity to meet the famed Super Dimensional Wizard, so I came in his stead.”

While speaking, Leon picked up the mini sand bear that was hanging from his shoulder and placed it on the table.

The little sand bear seemed a bit uneasy under everyone’s gaze, shivering slightly.

“This is my companion Misha; she’s a bit shy,” Leon said, patting the little sand bear’s head. The warmth of his palm seemed to calm the small creature a bit.

Then, Leon moved his lips slightly, as if whispering something. Leaning forward, the little sand bear opened its mouth and regurgitated a small, delicate parchment scroll.

When the scroll made contact with the outside world, it expanded with the wind, transforming instantaneously from the size of a thumb to its normal dimensions.

“Misha has a storage space inside her body,” Leon explained briefly, then handed the wrapped parchment scroll to Angel. “This is the ‘Scroll of Luck’ that Velite asked me to bring. You might want to take a look.”

“Alright.” A spark of intrigue flashed across Angel’s eyes as he accepted the scroll.

At first glance, the scroll seemed unremarkable, but as Angel slowly unrolled it to reveal its true nature, a captivating rhythm began to resonate throughout the hall.

The Scroll of Luck is a special and rare type of rune-laden parchment. Angel, being an expert in enchantment, sensed its potency even more acutely.

There were no visible runes on the surface of the Scroll of Luck. Yet, as energy began to mist across the parchment, Angel perceived countless geometric lines that leapt off the unrolled parchment. They transformed from two-dimensional forms into three-dimensional constructs, continuously expanding to form a series of simplistic yet striking patterns.

These minimalist geometric patterns combined to form an intriguing labyrinth. Within this labyrinth, a peculiar energy was navigating, seemingly searching for an exit.

However, its navigation was unlike the solving of any typical maze. As it traversed the labyrinth, sharp angles became smooth, and jagged facets transformed into rounded corners. It was as if the energy was smoothing out the jagged edges of destiny, collapsing all hidden perils into a singular, smooth path that led straight to the final exit.

The moment the energy exited the labyrinth and crossed the threshold, in Angel’s field of vision, all the lines reverted to their two-dimensional forms.

A mysterious breeze swept across, erasing all traces of what had just occurred. The Scroll of Luck lay flat, revealing nothing, save for a hidden energy that misted over it, silent and traceless.

“Is this the Scroll of Luck?” Angel muttered to himself, awestruck by the spectacle he had just witnessed.

He initially thought that since the Scroll of Luck was categorized under runes, perhaps he could replicate it. But now, he realized that the depth of rune study exceeded his expectations. Despite recognizing that the scroll was a work of runes, he couldn’t find a single trace. It felt as though it belonged to another layer of reality, or perhaps another dimension altogether.

Until he reached a sufficient level of understanding, not to mention replicating it, he likely couldn’t even grasp its operating mechanism.
