Chapter 1583 Temptation

Chapter 1582 Sharu's Metamorphosis <TOC> Chapter 1584 Factor to Consider

Translator: SumTLMan

Sharu was already bare-chested, wearing only pants, making it all the more evident. His upper torso was almost completely covered in barbed spines that glistened with an eerie, icy light.

Not only that, Sharu’s palms grew larger and thicker, and from the tips of each finger emerged black bone blades almost twelve centimeters long.

Even his ears began to swell, transforming into wings with an interplay of black, yellow, and white, resembling butterfly wings.

In an instant, he transformed from a normal young man into something humanoid but aberrant.

This transformation of Sharu not only left his opponent Sabel baffled, but even Leon, who witnessed this scene, had his eyes popping out in disbelief.

Leon couldn’t help but look around, and then lifted his head to glance at the sky.

He confirmed that he was indeed in the Wilderness of Dreams. This was the Stone Pillar Coliseum. Other than the weather suddenly clearing up, there was no other change. How could such a transformation occur? For a moment, he thought he was in Infinite Battle Tower, watching a Novastar Competition contestant!

Because in Initial Heart City, Leon had barely encountered any extraordinary powers.

Sharu’s transformation had genuinely taken him by surprise.

Leon couldn’t help but whisper to Angel, “What… What’s going on with him? How did he mutate all of a sudden?”

“It’s not mutation; he’s simply resonating with the Sin Demon within him,” Angel replied.

“What is a Sin Demon?” Leon hurriedly inquired further.

The so-called Sin Demon is actually the Sinful Monster. Angel used this term just for the sake of convenience in naming.

“You can understand it this way: Unique powers in the Wilderness of Dreams can manifest extraordinary abilities when they merge with perilous Sinful Monsters,” Angel paused, his gaze shifting to Sharu in the arena. He shook his head slightly and said, “His control is terrible. Such a lethal weapon should never be in the hands of someone like him.”

By “someone like him,” he meant individuals who can’t control themselves.

It’s not that Angel looks down on Sharu. According to Angel’s calculations, Sharu could gradually unleash the power of the Sinful Monster — starting, perhaps, with transforming his hand into a bone blade, thus significantly enhancing his combat abilities.

But Sharu has no sense of self-control; the moment the power of the Sinful Monster was released, he hit what’s called the “zero point.”

——The zero point refers to the boundary where the Sinful Monster takes over the human body again; it’s the crossing point of human and demonic natures. One more step, and his humanity would utterly collapse.

Sharu is in this state right now; the Sinful Monster suppressed within him by Angel is already brimming with anticipation for its reawakening.

Angel can even sense the Sinful Monster’s exuberant mood.

Sharu’s behavior not only leaves the experimental records incomplete but also puts him at the brink of losing control. Naturally, Angel is displeased.

To control the Sinful Monster is to wield the most potent lethal weapon. In Angel’s view, Sharu, an individual who can’t control himself, is already unfit.

On the platform, however, Sharu continues to revel in the unprecedented power flowing through him. It’s as if he has broken free from his shackles; nothing can bind him anymore, and his emotions begin to swell exponentially. Now, when he looks at Knight Sabel, his expression is one of assured victory. Even the people beside the arena like Freud, Sharu now feels he can defeat easily… all except for Angel.

The person who calmly told him that he would be used for experiments.

“You only need to gain more power, and you can even defeat him. You can become the strongest and conquer everyone here!” A message suddenly entered Sharu’s mind.

Sharu paused for a moment. Who was speaking?

“This is your own intention; your heart tells you that you want to become stronger. And the power to become stronger is hidden within you.”

New information entered Sharu’s mind again. Sharu was now somewhat puzzled. Were these his own thoughts, or someone else’s?

“Of course these are your own thoughts. Don’t you want to become stronger? Don’t you want to kill those who have experimented on you? Aren’t these your thoughts?”

The little voice in Sharu’s heart seemed to nod vaguely: Yes, this is indeed what he wanted to do.

But he clearly wasn’t thinking about it at the moment, was he?

Doubts arose in Sharu’s heart. Could it be the Sinful Monster within him speaking?

Sharu couldn’t help but recall not long ago, those who experimented on him told him: “Remember, you can wield the power of the Sinful Monster to defeat your adversaries. The Sinful Monster is a sword, and you are the swordsman.”

“But never let yourself become the sword in the hands of the Sinful Monster.”

Could it be the Sinful Monster speaking, trying to control me? Sharu felt a trace of uncertainty. Could the Sinful Monster possess intelligence?

Sharu tried to continue the previous dialogue, but this time, there was no feedback. As if, indeed, these were just his own subconscious thoughts.

Because he was still in the middle of a competition, Sharu temporarily set aside his doubts, preparing to deal with the annoying old man in front of him first.

Knight Sabel truly lived up to his reputation as an experienced knight. Although surprised by Sharu’s transformation at first, this emotion did not affect his combat. It even made Sabel pay even more attention to face this potentially more powerful opponent.

After undergoing a transformation, Sharu’s speed had escalated to a point where his shadow was nearly impossible to catch within the confines of the arena; it was as though only Knight Sabel existed on the stage.

Watching the scene unfold on the platform, Leon couldn’t help but ponder, “Can Knight Sabel handle this?”

Even for himself, or for that matter, any mid to low-level wizard apprentices, dealing with such a predicament in close combat would be no walk in the park. The only likely counter would be to employ a grand spectacle of a spell to flush Sharu out. But what if Sabel, not skilled in such spells, were to lose?

As Leon was engrossed in these thoughts, he didn’t notice that the “circle” around Sabel had started to contract. Earlier, Sabel stood at its center, and the circle’s radius was approximately twice the distance of a forward lunge and sword thrust. Over time, Sabel had been expanding his circle, in essence widening his domain and thereby increasing the reach of his attacks.

Now, Sabel had noticeably reverted to a more defensive stance. Unaware of what Sharu’s transformation would bring, and unable to trace his elusive movements, Sabel opted for caution and decided to shrink his circle, to be activated only when Sharu came within striking range.

After a brief moment of stillness, a sudden burst of noise erupted in the arena.

Convinced that he had put enough pressure on Sabel, Sharu finally launched his attack. In his mind, the pressure he applied would inevitably induce fear in his opponent, and his final blow would strike like thunder, catching Sabel completely off guard.

However, Sharu was thinking solely through his own lens. If he were the one under such pressure, fear would indeed take over. But Knight Sabel was a different breed; his combat experience was far too rich. After all, he had even defeated Tulas.

Sabel, a seasoned veteran, was unlikely to lose his composure at this critical juncture.

When Sharu initiated his assault, even if Sabel couldn’t trace his movement, the faint clues carried by the wind, the origin of the sonic boom, and even Sharu’s pounding heartbeat allowed Sabel to accurately counter Sharu’s attack.

With a sword parry, Sabel successfully blocked Sharu’s bone blade. In the split-second series of events that produced two successive noises, not only was Sharu thwarted, but his position was also exposed.

During their previous fight, Sabel noticed that Sharu was sorely lacking in experience, so he deliberately went easy on him and didn’t go for the kill. But now, after undergoing some kind of transformation, Sharu was showing incredible speed, leaving Sabel uncertain about what other abilities he might possess.

As a result, Sabel decided to give it his all. Seizing an opportunity, he struck with full force.

It looked like a simple, unadorned thrust, devoid of any theatrics. Yet, Sharu realized he couldn’t dodge it.

The sword pierced directly into Sharu’s left chest!

However, Sharu’s body was covered in backward-facing spikes, so the blade didn’t penetrate. Sensing this, Sabel quickly adapted, changing his thrust to a sweeping motion, causing the tip of his sword to form a noticeable arc downward.

Like a slingshot, a rebound force emanated from the sword’s tip.

Sharu felt a sudden loss of weight under his feet and found himself being catapulted into the air, heading toward the edge of the arena.

According to the rules of the competition, if Sharu fell out of the arena, Sabel would be declared the winner.

Sharu knew this all too well. Anxiously, he tried to adjust his body and disperse the force acting on him, but to no avail; he continued falling toward the edge of the arena.

At that moment, a message that had fallen silent suddenly resounded in his mind again.

“Clearly, you’re much stronger than that old man, and you even have hidden techniques you haven’t unleashed. Are you really willing to accept defeat this easily?”

“The reason you’re losing is simply that you lack experience, and your skills are still inferior to his. But your actual power far surpasses him!”

“However, you haven’t truly lost yet; you haven’t fallen out of the arena.”

“Unleash just a bit more power, and you will be able to take flight.”

“Are you content with admitting defeat?”

“So go ahead and release it, let it out…”

It was as if a dam had burst, a torrent of information far exceeding any before flooded directly into Sharu’s mind.

A deluge of information swirled around his thoughts, and at this moment, Sharu couldn’t even begin to discern whether these were his own musings or the whispers of the Sinful Monster.

Resonating in his mind was only a single sentence: Are you truly content with admitting defeat?

In a soft voice, Sharu said, “I… am not content.”

After a moment of silence, what responded was a sinister laugh emanating from the depths of darkness.
