The air was just right, and sunlight gently bathed her skin, accompanied by a gentle breeze that ruffled her hair as it rested on her shoulders.

The weather was exceptionally pleasant.

However, Hilary couldn’t find comfort in it.

She still had no idea where she was. Even whether this place was reality or a dreamscape remained a mystery to her.

If it were a dream, it was alarmingly lifelike. The cool sensation as the breeze brushed her fingertips, the nuanced dance of her flowing hair, and the complex interplay of light and shadow obscured by passing clouds — these were details her dreams had never conjured before. What’s more, she found herself capable of deep thought.

It seemed almost like reality — but only “almost.”

Because if this was truly reality, she felt hesitant to fully accept it. She couldn’t sense any energy around her — not just an absence of magical power in the wind but even her usual perception of her mental space was barely noticeable. Even her ability to manipulate the properties of water had completely vanished.

She felt as vulnerable as a mere mortal. In fact, she felt like she was a mortal.

This didn’t seem like reality at all.

“If this is a dream, I should be able to change my surroundings within my own dreamscape,” Hilary pondered. If she was in a lucid dream, she should be able to alter the environment. Why not attempt to change the surroundings?

But in the end, Hilary failed; she couldn’t make any changes to her immediate environment.

“Is this not my dream? Could this actually be reality? Or could it be that I’m still in combat with Onassis, and I’m caught in a fantasy he created?” Her mind raced as she considered all the possibilities.

As Hilary was deeply engrossed in her thoughts, she suddenly heard footsteps approaching from a distance.

She turned around abruptly to look.

Upon turning around, Hilary found an additional figure behind her, unaware of when this person had appeared, slowly walking towards her.

Without her mental awareness, initially, Hilary could only see the silhouette of the approaching figure. It was only when he got closer that she realized the newcomer was actually someone she knew.

“Angel? Were you also dragged into this by Onassis?” Not long ago, Hilary had been lost in thought, suspecting she might be trapped in a simulated reality created by Onassis. Upon seeing Angel, she blurted out her speculation subconsciously.

Angel responded, “…Huh?”

Realizing her faux pas, Hilary covered her mouth: “I think I just spaced out. What I meant to ask is, what are you doing here?”

Could it be that this isn’t Onassis’s illusion, but rather a simulated reality created by Angel? Hilary murmured softly to herself. Given Angel’s capabilities, he should be able to conjure a fantasy that could dampen her mental powers.

Angel looked at her, amused: “You think this is an illusion?”

“Isn’t it?” Hilary queried.

“Of course not,” Angel shook his head, “this is a dream.”

Almost involuntarily, Hilary shook her head. If this were a dream, it was disturbingly realistic. It bore no resemblance to a dream. And furthermore, if this is a dream, she pondered… “Did I just conjure you up from my imagination?”

Hilary lowered her head, muttering to herself: “I don’t even like Angel, so why would I think of him in a dream? Could I have been influenced by Coral?”

Watching Hilary talk to herself, Angel couldn’t help but press the bridge of his nose, bewildered. He had never noticed before that Hilary had a penchant for mumbling to herself, especially in front of others.

“You’re not dreaming of me; I’ve brought you into my dream,” Angel clarified.

Still skeptical, Hilary looked at Angel, her disbelief lingering.

Angel sighed and explained once more, “I’ve dabbled in some spells of Dream Control. I directly constructed a Dream Bridge and brought you into my territory.”

Seeing Angel’s expression, Hilary hesitated a bit: “Is this place truly a dream?”

Why did it feel so real? Her thinking was as clear as it would be in reality. This was entirely different from the dreams she usually had. Could this dream realm only be created by a formal wizard?

“Of course, this is a dream realm. How do you feel about it?” Angel asked.

Hilary nodded: “If this is a dream, then it’s amazing. My thoughts are rarely this clear…” In reality, due to physiological reasons, she would still go through a period of grogginess even after waking up. Only after that would she completely regain clarity. So, achieving such mental clarity wasn’t just a battle against the dream state, but also against physiological lethargy. It was exceedingly rare for her.

“If I could always have dreams like this, that would be wonderful,” Hilary mused. Even in this dream, she had no powers, but her mind was unbound, allowing her to ponder many questions and make productive use of what would otherwise be wasted time in sleep.

“Perhaps your vision will soon come true,” Angel responded.

Hilary looked at Angel with hesitation. Although she truly enjoyed this kind of lucid dream, she felt it would be awkward if she had to venture into Angel’s dream realm every day.

Angel didn’t elaborate further. This was the Wilderness of Dreams, and he had brought Hilary here simply to gauge her reaction.

As it turns out, the results were quite favorable. Hilary quickly discerned the difference between the Wilderness of Dreams and the dreams she normally had.

As for the future, when the Wilderness of Dreams is eventually opened on a smaller scale, Angel would certainly reserve a spot for Hilary. As a friend, he hoped that the Wilderness of Dreams could be beneficial for her.

“This time I brought you into this dream realm because there are some questions I’d like to ask you,” Angel said.

Hilary looked at Angel, paused for a moment, and reaffirmed, “You really are Angel?”

“Of course, in reality, you are still in the medical room. Nausica, Coral, and others are by your side, watching over you.”

“In the medical room? It seems I did indeed lose to Onassis.” Hilary pondered for a moment and asked, “Are my injuries… severe?”

“Not severe. In fact, there are no noticeable injuries within your body,” Angel shrugged. “That’s why I came to inquire about your situation. What exactly happened in the arena? Why did you fall asleep suddenly even after taking the potion?”

“To be honest, I’m also in the dark,” Hilary mused. “I find that the moment I try to recall what happened in the arena, my memories begin to dissipate at an alarming rate…”

What Hilary described coincides with the information Angel received from Sabel. Basically, those who fought with Onassis more or less lose their memories of that particular battle.

Hilary paused: “However, perhaps because this is a dream, the rate at which the memories are fading is slower. The memories about Onassis are being slowly obscured by a layer of dust. If you are indeed Angel, then good. Please record it while my memory has not completely faded.”

Hilary began to recall the situation at that time——

The face of Onassis had already blurred, but she remembered the other details of the arena, including the rune on the floor, the cheers of the audience, and the whispers that came with the wind…

After recounting the entire match in her mind, Hilary didn’t find anything amiss, except for the whispers in the wind that left her perplexed.

The whispers in the wind didn’t sound like human speech, but more like a message carried by the wind.

The sensation was like a solitary wanderer walking through an alley and smelling the fragrance of flowers as they passed by a courtyard. The wind caressing the garden in the courtyard carried the scent to the wanderer, compelling them to pause and savor the moment.

Hilary’s experience was similar, except that what the wind brought was not the scent of flowers but a whisper.

The content of the whisper was a sentence——

“The Earth governs the growth of all things, the cycle of the sun and moon indicates the passage of time, the lighthouse represents the lows, and the stars signify the distant firmament. The chilly wind brings the first frost, the flowing fire sheds its garb.”

“What About You?”
