Chapter 1619 Imprisoned

Chapter 1618 Steadfast Beliefs <TOC> Chapter 1620 Azaz’s Origin

Translator: SumTLMan

Lurking in the dark void, the demon known as——Sebastian professed to let Azaz simply wait for his demise. Nevertheless, he couldn’t pull his gaze away from the bet he had placed.

Initially, Sebastian didn’t pay much attention to these two formal wizards who had suddenly appeared. His previous worshipper——Tubal, had already attracted a plethora of wizards wanting to kill him during his time in the Wizarding World of the Northern Territory. Sebastian had witnessed situations far grander than this one.

In fact, there was a tinge of secret delight within him. Perhaps the pressure from these two wizards could compel Azaz to start offering human delicacies as sacrifices.

Regrettably, Azaz remained as stubborn as a mule; even when faced with life-or-death circumstances, he wouldn’t relent.

Sebastian didn’t particularly concern himself with these two wizards. However, when Angel spoke those words, a glimmer of surprise flashed across the demon’s eyes within the dark void.

——The fire of a Rune Fire Demon is not so easily banished.

How did he recognize that I am a Rune Fire Demon?

Rune Fire Demons are the nobility among demons, scarce in number and seldom found on the surface layers of the Abyss. Given the current exploratory knowledge of the Abyss in the Wizarding World of the Southern Region, encountering a Rune Fire Demon would be as rare as hen’s teeth. The number of individuals capable of identifying the flame of a Rune Fire Demon at first glance would be even fewer.

How did this Angel come to know?

It should be noted that even Azaz and Tubal were unaware of Sebastian’s specific species.

As Sebastian was pondering with bewilderment, Angel volunteered to take on the task of banishing the demon fire.

Sebastian couldn’t fathom that his flames would be so easily dispelled by someone. Yet, reality sharply contradicted his assumptions. In the moment of his contemplation, the demon fire that had been burning on the young girl was channeled right into Angel’s palm.

It wasn’t extinguished, and Angel even managed to hold the demon fire?

Sebastian grew uneasy, his restless mind alert to an enigma. The fire he had discreetly released just moments ago originated from his very essence. To clarify, it wasn’t diminished by any power-level restrictions.

In his original line of thinking, while the flame might not be lethal to the young girl, it would certainly have caused her a degree of suffering — akin to “losing a layer of skin,” as the saying goes.

How, then, had Angel managed to suppress this infernal blaze of such intensity?

Sebastian’s curiosity reached its zenith, an apex of intrigue. Unable to contain himself, he directed a sliver of demonic energy toward Azaz’s eyes, hoping to scrutinize the wizard who, until this point, he had considered inconsequential.

Azaz, however, felt puzzled. Why had Sebastian chosen to bestow upon him this demonic energy so suddenly?

Just as Azaz was contemplating this enigma, Sebastian’s voice resonated in his mind once again. “Ah, so it’s the Mark of Flame from Odeklaes. Intriguing. Someone actually managed to acquire the mark from him.”

Odeklaes is an Abyssal Flame Dragon, just one step away from entering the realm of Demon Lords. His flame level was much higher than Sebastian’s; hence Angel was able to effortlessly dispel the demonic fire.

Of course, this was also because Sebastian was not currently in the Wizarding World. The demonic fire within Gloria could not be manipulated by him, otherwise, Angel would have found it difficult to purge it.

But how could he dispel Sebastian’s fire? It was due to the flame mark. So how did Angel recognize him as a Rune Fire Demon in the first place?

Sebastian inquired, “His name is Angel, right?”

Azaz nodded. As long as the conversation didn’t veer into the realm of human sacrifices, Azaz had no reservations about speaking with Sebastian.

“I need information about him. What do you know?”

This time, Azaz hesitated for a moment before replying, “I haven’t paid much attention to him. All I know is that he hails from the Savage Grottoes, and his mentor is Lord Phantom Master Sanders.”

“What else?”

“I… don’t know.”

Sebastian chuckled softly, “I can read your heart; you have something to hide. However, it doesn’t matter now. I can give you an opportunity. I can save you, and this time I don’t necessarily require you to offer a human sacrifice.”

“You couldn’t possibly help me without wanting something in return.”

“Indeed, I do have a request. I want you to use the demon power to construct a passage, pulling this individual named Angel into the void. I find him rather intriguing and wish to converse with him.”

Azaz questioned, “How is this different from offering a human sacrifice?”

“It’s quite different. At least I won’t consume him,” Sebastian said, adding in his mind: He wouldn’t dare anyway, not with the mark of Odekras’s flame upon him. The backlash from that mark is more than he can bear right now.

“But to me, this is no different from offering a human sacrifice.” Azaz didn’t want to continue discussing the matter and promptly exited the Mental Space.

On the other side, Angel had finally succeeded in completely expelling the demon fire from Gloria’s body.

“Thank you,” Gloria exhaled deeply. “If it weren’t for you, Angel, I might have been doomed here. This body took quite an effort to harmonize with my soul; if this body were lost, it wouldn’t be easy to find another suitable one.”

Angel remained silent for a long time, causing Gloria to look at him quizzically.

He was silently observing the black fire dancing in his palm.

The fire’s form was constantly changing — sometimes engulfed in chaos, and at other times morphing into the shape of a demon, appearing rather malevolent and fearsome.

After a considerable time, Angel let out a sigh, his eyes tinged with a touch of regret.

“What’s the matter?” Gloria asked, puzzled.

“The characteristics of this fire are incredibly well-suited for crafting alchemical items imbued with properties of dread. Unfortunately, the lingering will of a demon remains within the flame, making it impossible for me to control,” Angel initially considered collecting the fire, but the demonic will within it was too overpowering. “It would be ideal if the fire were unclaimed.”

To make the fire ownerless, one would have to eliminate the demon that lay claim to it. However, killing a demon hiding in the void is no simple feat, especially when that demon is marked with the rune of fire.

With a sigh, Angel reached out and pinched his fingers together. Wrapped in an ethereal green rune, the black flames morphed into embers and completely dissolved into the air.

Gloria stared at Angel, somewhat speechless. She had initially thought that the demon fire harbored something extraordinary, only to find out that Angel was pondering alchemy… Though, the fire did seem like it could be quite useful for cooking as well.

Pushing aside her irrelevant thoughts, Gloria decided to address the matter of Azaz first.

Gloria’s face darkened as she briskly walked up to Azaz. Her murderous intent was not concealed, and when combined with her overpowering aura, Azaz felt as if a sharp sword were pointed right at his forehead.

Gloria was still reeling from a recent deceit, her inner resentment naturally at a boiling point.

She was aware that the deception was not Azaz’s doing but that of the demon behind him. Yet, as a ritual sacrificer, Azaz was incontrovertibly involved.

Gloria strongly contemplated killing Azaz right then and there.

Azaz himself felt as if he were teetering on the edge of the abyss, a single step away from death. However, at that moment, Angel coughed softly.

Gloria glanced at Angel and, in the end, stayed her hand.

Angel wanted to hear an explanation, and she respected Angel’s wish. She was also curious to hear what Azaz had to say.

As the oppressive aura lifted, Azaz took a deep breath and shot Angel a grateful look.

“We’ll talk about it later; this is not the place for a discussion,” Angel cast a sidelong glance down the corridor. Although the doors were firmly shut, he could still hear the sounds of panting emanating from some of the rooms.

Gloria nodded and, as a precaution against the demon emerging to cause trouble again, she employed a specialized spell to bind Azaz.

However, Gloria’s worries were perhaps unwarranted. The amount of energy that Sebastian could muster had already reached its limit unless he crossed over from the void into the Wizarding World.

If Sebastian truly did cross into the physical plane, then there would be nothing to fear here. After all, they were in Sky Mechanical City, where Sebastian would undoubtedly not be left to roam freely.

Having Imprisoned Azaz, Gloria gave a nod to Angel, “Let’s go.”
