After hearing Angel’s account, Sanders and Gloria both understood why Angel was treating the matter with such gravity.

Should the Bud cultists spread throughout the Southern Region, it would unquestionably spell catastrophic disaster.

Human curiosity often exceeds that of a cat, and as the saying goes, “curiosity killed the cat,” but it can also be the undoing of humans.

Take Alana for instance; her own curiosity led to her downfall without her even being aware, not to mention the impact on others.

Furthermore, there are far too many irrational people in this world. If news about the Bud gets into their hands, they could manipulate things from the shadows. With the Bud’s eerily powerful radiative power, it could even annihilate an entire civilization.

“We should keep this information closely guarded,” Sanders cautioned solemnly, echoing the doctrine of the Orderly Guild — don’t speak of it, don’t think about it, don’t speculate, and certainly don’t go investigating or spreading it.

Gloria nodded in agreement, “Even wizards should be excluded.”

While those who become wizards indeed have the capacity to control their emotions, there are also many in their ranks who are far from virtuous. If one’s decisions are solely based on self-interest, that’s one thing; such individuals understand what is best for them and would never choose to disseminate information about the Bud. However, if someone is entirely corrupt in character, letting them in on the secret of the Bud would be akin to voluntarily forsaking the spark of civilization.

“I understand, but as it appears now, Bud cultists have already emerged in the Southern Region,” said Angel. “Although I’ve destroyed a ‘Rain Patterned Stone,’ there’s no telling if there are other Bud cultists still lurking there.”

So, maintaining complete silence doesn’t seem to be a good idea either.

Sanders pondered for a moment, “Once we’re back, you can seek out Maya or Totoro. They could employ their divination techniques to investigate whether there are still any Bud cultists in the Southern Region. If there are, then we can selectively disclose this information to certain individuals.”

In cases where it’s confirmed that the recipient won’t leak information about the Bud, then it might be prudent to share what we know.

Sanders’s opinion coincides exactly with what Angel was thinking.

After settling on the plan, a palpable silence enveloped the room. Perhaps the gravity of the situation had caught them off guard. Receiving such news so suddenly, both Sanders and Gloria needed time to digest it.

“I’ll be going back then,” Angel finally broke the silence.

Sanders nodded and escorted Angel and Gloria out of the Gravity Garden. As Angel and Gloria were leaving, Gloria softly inquired, “Are you sure that Alan won’t be able to find information about the Bud in Paradova?”

“He might be able to find it, but without the specific incantation, the information will be useless,” Angel paused, then continued, “Even so, encouraging him to persist in looking for followers of the Bud may not be a good idea. He could inadvertently contribute to the spread of the Bud’s influence.”

Alan, failing to find Alana, would naturally inquire about the Bud, thereby increasing its influence unintentionally.

Gloria mused for a moment: “Once Alan returns, I will have to impose some restrictions on him.”

After all, Alan is a member of the Candy House, and while Gloria sympathized with his plight, she didn’t want him to become an unwitting accomplice to the Bud’s followers.

At that moment, the figure of Butler Number 1 appeared in the distant corridor. Angel said, “Let’s put this matter on hold for now and discuss other things.”

Gloria also noticed Butler Number 1 and understood Angel’s concerns, ceasing to discuss the matter of the Bud.

Angel then asked, “How has Toby been since Shirley started helping out?”

Lately, Toby had been spending his nights in Angel’s room, returning only to sleep. During the day, he trained with Gloria, while Shirley monitored his emotional state from the sidelines.

Speaking of Toby, Gloria’s consistently furrowed brow finally relaxed a bit. “His condition is pretty good. Shirley’s abilities are indeed quite targeted. Moreover, with Shirley’s guidance, Toby himself has started to become aware of his emotional fluctuations, allowing him to gradually exercise self-control over his feelings.”

“However…” Gloria’s tone shifted mid-sentence, her initial relief giving way to concern, “at this rate, Toby will probably soon confront the seal.”

The so-called ‘seal’ refers to a suppression set up by Frost to contain the Tribulation of Resentment.

Once Toby begins to confront this seal, it means he’ll be lifting that suppression. What would happen at that point, and what the outcome might be, is anyone’s guess.

While Gloria knows Toby will eventually have to face this, the possibility of a negative outcome still worries her.

“Regardless, this is a path that Toby must walk. I believe he’s aware of what’s at stake and will choose the right moment to face it. And even if things don’t go well, we’re still here for him, aren’t we?” Angel added.

Nodding, Gloria felt that all she could do now was to prepare Toby as much as possible so that he could persevere when confronting his true self——the Serpent-Bird.

Upon entering the yard, Shirley was cheerfully chatting with Toby. She appeared to be very cordial and kind, but Toby looked rather cautious.

As Shirley stepped closer, Toby took a step back.

Upon seeing Angel, Toby, as if he had seen his savior, flew right over to him and started whispering complaints into his ear.

After listening to Toby’s side of the story, Angel turned his eyes toward an innocently looking Shirley: “I promised you before, if you can truly be of help to Toby, I would give you an item that complements your identity as a magician.”

“However, if you prefer a spatial item, I can change the reward to that instead.”

Toby had complained to Angel, mentioning that Shirley’s proximity was not out of genuine friendliness but because she was coveting the Snowy Feather that he possessed.

The Snowy Feather was a spatial item that Angel had crafted for Toby. Inside were all of Toby’s treasures, such as small dried fish and various articles of clothing. It was for this very reason that Toby was so guarded around Shirley.

Shirley gave an embarrassed smile, “No need, I already have my own spatial item. I just thought the feathers on Toby looked beautiful; I had no ulterior motives.”

Clearly, Shirley was lying. But Angel didn’t seem to mind. After all, Shirley was known for being dishonest; unless under special circumstances, nine out of ten words from her mouth were generally lies.

However, Angel couldn’t easily let it slide, especially when Toby was standing nearby, looking aggrieved.

Angel could only caution Shirley with a stern reminder, advising her to set aside her thoughts about the Snowy Feather.

Though Shirley usually had a defiant streak, she also knew where to draw the line, especially since Angel had promised her a wizard item. She had no choice but to reluctantly concede.

So, that matter was considered settled.

Next, as usual, Gloria began to train Toby.

However, not long after the training started, a sudden gust of wind blew in. Both Angel and Gloria paused and turned their heads in the direction of the main district of Sky Mechanical City.

For Shirley, it was just a simple gust of wind. But in the eyes of Angel and Gloria, this was actually a dispersed elemental energy wafting in from somewhere.

The source of the scattered energy is indeed the main city area.

“The energy is somewhat chaotic; it’s hard to see what specifically has occurred,” Gloria said. While she could expend some effort to get a clearer picture, she felt it was unnecessary to waste energy on such trivial matters.

Angel nodded in agreement. “Judging by the intensity of the energy, it’s likely that some sort of dispute has arisen among apprentices.”

It’s much like the previous incident where Shirley nearly flooded half the street.

However, this time, it’s seemingly on par with Shirley’s episode. Presumably, it’s another set of promising talents stirring up trouble.

For Angel and Gloria, this is merely a minor event that neither of them takes to heart.
