Gloria had long suspected that there was a shared secret between Toby and Angel.

Whenever Toby ventured into the realm of dreams, the Tribulation of Resentment might manifest as creatures within those dreams, attempting to lead Toby astray, even breaking free from its seal. Previously, the Tribulation of Resentment had taken the form of Angel, wreaking havoc in Toby’s dreams.

For this reason, the moment Toby showed signs of drowsiness, Gloria would always be on high alert, using various methods to keep Toby awake.

However, what puzzled Gloria was Angel’s nonchalance about the whole situation. Whenever Toby was by his side, sleep seemed to be the norm.

Angel was deeply concerned about Toby’s safety. Hence, he wouldn’t leave Toby in danger. This made his behavior rather perplexing; he seemed wholly confident that nothing would befall Toby while dreaming at his side.

From where did such confidence arise?

“What changes have you noticed in Toby’s emotions now?” Gloria turned to ask Shirley.

Shirley, who had been monitoring Toby’s state, promptly replied, “It’s the same as before, very calm. The negative emotions within him are like an undercurrent, stirring only in the deep sea and not causing any ripples on the surface.”

In other words, Toby’s state was the same as when he was awake.

A flicker passed through Gloria’s eyes. Could this be the reason? Did Angel pull Toby into his own dreams, ensuring Toby’s safety?

Yet, when Toby slept regularly, Angel wasn’t necessarily sleeping too. This answer surely couldn’t be right.

Then, what could it be?

Gloria couldn’t figure it out. However, she had an inkling that the answer was closely tied to a critical factor——the Dream Realm.

Moreover——

Gloria looked up, turning her gaze to a room on the second floor behind her. She recalled something Sanders had mentioned before — he too was delving into dream-related spells.

Both the mentor and the disciple were crossing domains, researching dream spells. There was certainly something fishy going on. Perhaps, there’s something within the Dream Realm that they’ve been hiding all along.

“Even though I know Angel probably won’t harm Toby… I still really want to know their secret,” Gloria murmured softly to herself.

Shirley overheard Gloria’s mutterings, though she didn’t catch the entirety of what was said. She looked over quizzically, “Ma’am, were you speaking to me?”

“No, just ensure that Toby’s emotions remain stable,” Gloria responded with a shake of her head as a gesture.

Shirley refocused her attention on Toby. It wasn’t long before her brows furrowed, sensing something wrong, “There’s a problem; negative emotions within Toby seem to be surging!”

Gloria swiftly turned, “What’s happening?”

Shirley shook her head, “I’m not sure what’s triggered it, but the negative emotions are surging rapidly.”

To Gloria’s eyes, Toby appeared unchanged, still deep in slumber. However, through Shirley’s lens, it was different. She had an acute sensitivity to emotions, able to detect even the faintest malintent buried deep within Toby. Now, she could palpably feel the overwhelming, sinister wave of negative emotions.

In Shirley’s perception, if Toby’s usual state was likened to a calm ocean with only deep underwater currents, then now, the ocean was becoming tumultuous. The undercurrents were turning into froth, rising to the surface.

At first, Shirley managed to respond to Gloria’s inquiries while tuning into Toby’s state. But as time progressed, she became entirely engulfed by the negative emotions emanating from him, losing touch with the outside world.

The surface of this ocean was now filled with foam, each bubble a manifestation of the burgeoning negative emotions.

A soft “bang” echoed in the air.

The bubbles burst open, releasing the negative emotions contained within them.

The entire sea surface began to be shrouded in a dense black mist… much like the deepest night fog, masking the ocean that was gradually going out of control.

“How could there be such intense negative emotions?” Shirley murmured in disbelief. She always knew that Toby harbored many negative emotions, but she never imagined that their release could be this terrifying.

Even Shirley, who was fond of collecting negative emotions, felt fear.

Furthermore, Shirley could sense that the negative emotions Toby had released were only a fraction of what he suppressed. The more intense emotions were still restrained within him.

As Shirley was startled by the wave of negativity, Gloria also began to sense something wrong.

A faint black mist emanated from Toby and lingered around him.

This black mist was the tangible manifestation of resentful thoughts. Gloria only had to sense it briefly to feel the thick negative emotions from the mist – resentment, jealousy, envy, and wickedness…

“Why has this happened? Could it be that the suppression inside Toby is on the brink of failing?”

If the resentful thoughts truly break free from their suppression, it means Toby must now confront the Tribulation of Resentment! But given Toby’s current state, can he really handle these resentful thoughts?

Gloria’s doubt wasn’t due to a lack of faith in Toby, but rather she was acutely aware of how terrifying the adversary Toby would be up against.

The Tribulation of the Five Flavors, the legendary emotional trial of magical creatures!

Gloria watched Toby, who was enveloped in the black mist, with such anxiety that she clenched her fists.

Just moments ago, she awaited Shirley’s answer, but now she could see with her naked eyes that the black mist around Toby was increasing and becoming denser…

“What should we do? Could we really just let Toby face the Tribulation of Resentment now?” Gloria frowned, turning to the blonde man sleeping beside Toby, “Angel, what in the world are you doing?”

In the heart of Gloria, a growing unease takes hold. The dormant Angel suddenly opens his eyes.

Gloria, who noticed first, hastily approaches and asks, “Angel, what in the world has happened?”

Without answering Gloria’s question, Angel turns his gaze to Toby, not far off. The dark mist around Toby has become so dense that one can only faintly make out his silhouette.

“So, it is as I thought,” Angel murmurs softly.

Growing more anxious, Gloria presses on, “What are you certain of? What exactly is happening to Toby?”

Angel looks back at Gloria, “I’ll explain to you in a moment. Let me first address Toby’s situation.”

Upon finishing his statement, Gloria waits for Angel to take action. However, she sees Angel’s eyes close, and he drifts back into slumber.

Witnessing this, a peculiar feeling arises within Gloria.

According to Angel’s earlier words, he would take Toby into his dream for experimentation. But now that Angel is clearly awake, it’s improbable that Toby remains in his dream. So, where could Toby be? Or could it be that from the very start, Angel never took Toby into his dream… Was he lying?

As a sea of doubts swarms Gloria’s mind, Toby’s condition begins to shift again. Perhaps, as Angel mentioned, he was intervening with Toby’s issue——

The thick black mist surrounding Toby begins to recede gradually.

It eventually absorbs entirely into Toby.

Now, looking over, Toby appears to be deeply asleep. Everything prior seems to have vanished like smoke, as if nothing had transpired.

At this moment, Gloria can’t sense any change in Toby’s emotions. She turns to Shirley, hoping to glean some answers from her.

“What’s the status with Toby now?”

Shirley, still appearing a bit rattled, takes deep breaths and again tries to feel Toby’s emotions. After a moment, a look of astonishment forms on her face, “The negative emotions have submerged deep down once again. Toby has returned to his usual state.”
