The Dove Library earned its name because white doves circulate around it throughout the day. It stands as one of the top libraries in Sky Mechanical City.

As usual, the Dove Library remains open to the public twenty-four hours a day. However, today seems slightly different: there are fewer visitors than usual.

“I suppose it’s due to that hint of terrifying aura we sensed earlier?” posited one of the female librarians of the Dove Library. When they have a moment of respite, these librarians tend to gather by the floor-to-ceiling windows, gazing out at the scenery and engaging in light banter.

Given the fewer visitors today, they had less work and more time to relax.

Outside the window, the evening sky was painted a deep shade of red, as if set ablaze, vibrant and reminiscent of the blood-red skies depicted in the famed novel —The Onset of Destruction—.

“According to information from the Magic Eye, the creature emitting that terrifying aura has already left. But who knows if this can be trusted?” whispered another librarian.

“I’ve heard rumors from some formal wizards out there suggesting that this menacing aura might be coming from a being beyond legendary, powerful enough to overpower the entirety of Sky Mechanical City.”

“Really? Beyond legendary?” The librarian who posed the question covered her mouth, eyes widening in disbelief.

“It seems to be the case. But this indirectly confirms the veracity of the information spread by the Magic Eye. A being of legendary realm wouldn’t merely release a fleeting aura. If such a being were to descend, the aura would be continuous. Thus, it likely has left,” she added, her eyes shining with a mixture of awe and anticipation against the backdrop of the evening hues. “I wonder what it would be like, to witness a being beyond legendary. I would love to see it.”

“Witness? Better not. What’s certain is that this aura comes from the void, likely a powerful entity from the outer worlds passing through the Wizarding World. As for these otherworldly beings, who knows if they’re benevolent or malevolent? If handled improperly, the Southern Region might end up resembling the scenes from —The Apocalypse—. I certainly wouldn’t want that.” She paused, turning to her friend, “A peaceful life is much better, don’t you think, Little Six?”

After a long while, no one responded, and she turned her head in confusion to look at the woman beside her.

The woman was a young girl with a black ponytail. She seemed a bit spaced-out, wearing large black-framed glasses, and was dressed in a somewhat baggy black administrator’s uniform——This attire was representative of the apprentices from Sky Mechanical City in the opposite district.

Her nickname was “Little Six.”

Little Six usually didn’t speak much. Even when they sneaked in some chat time, she never missed out. However, she always had a book with her, quietly flipping through its pages on the side. It looked like she was reading, but she would also occasionally pay attention to their conversations. Nevertheless, she never took the initiative to speak. Only when called upon would she softly voice her opinions.

But today, something was odd about Little Six. Although she had a book with her, she wasn’t reading it. Even when called, she didn’t respond. It seemed like her mind was elsewhere, occasionally glancing in a particular direction.

That area seemed to be the magazine display section of the Ancient River Beach.

“What’s wrong with you?” She nudged Little Six, who then came out of her daze. Upon regaining her senses, her first reaction wasn’t to reply but rather to avoid eye contact, giving off a guilty demeanor.

“Nothing, nothing… I just, just…” Little Six thought for a long while but couldn’t come up with an explanation, stuttering, unsure of what to say.

“Little Six, she probably wants to secretly observe that person, right?” A colleague responsible for the same area as Little Six teased.

“Which person? Who?”

“The one Little Six always talks about, saying she wants to meet.”

Before anyone could grasp the situation, an administrator in charge of the Ancient River Beach magazine section seemed to realize something, “Speaking of which, due to that fleeting terrifying aura today, fewer than ten people visited the Ancient River Beach magazine section. As of now, only one remains there… I get it now, Little Six wants to secretly watch him. That makes sense.”

“Who is it?” The crowd looked over with curiosity.

The speaker did not play coy but straightforwardly said, “A prominent figure who has recently been in the limelight.”

In the limelight? And he’s addressed with a title of respect? Coupled with the fact that Little Six has been talking about this non-stop… the answer seems to have become clear.

“Is it the Super Dimensional Wizard?”

“Really? The Super Dimensional Wizard is at the library?” It wasn’t just Little Six who revered this person. Hearing the name Angel, many of the female librarians showed expressions of astonishment and quickly looked in the direction Little Six had been gazing at earlier.

Among them, the bolder ones even walked over directly. After all, they were librarians. Using the excuse of arranging books, they believed they could likely get away with their intrusion.

However, those who walked towards that direction stopped before they even reached the Ancient River Beach section. Because, emerging from the curved corridor, a tall figure was walking towards them.

That signature golden, curly hair and those clear, lucid blue eyes, unmistakably identified him.

It was Angel.

After stepping out, Angel did not stop. He headed directly towards the main entrance. Passing a floor-to-ceiling window, he noticed a group of female librarians gathered there. However, they all seemed to be performing a silent act, heads bowed, saying nothing.

Angel gave them a brief glance, remained silent, and strode past them without a word.

Only when Angel’s figure disappeared from view did this group of female librarians breathe a sigh of relief. They began gossiping eagerly about the topic they were curious about, and naturally, the center of their discussion was Angel.

However, only Little Six remained silent, seemingly hesitating about something.

Suddenly, Little Six stood up. Amidst the puzzled glances of everyone, she quickly walked forward and ran towards the main entrance.

……

After leaving the Dove Library, Angel glanced at Toby, who was deep in slumber inside his pocket.

For some time now, ever since Angel discovered that the Malevolent Thoughts would tempt Toby in his dreams, Toby had been hesitant to fall into a deep sleep. Even when closing his eyes, he would wander into the Wilderness of Dreams.

Now, the tribulation has finally been overcome. The first thing Toby did after the overwhelming joy was to want to sleep soundly.

However, to accommodate Angel, Toby persevered and came to the Dove Library. He had gone through a plethora of images, and it was only after Angel decided to leave that he finally succumbed to sleep.

Angel looked at Toby, whose sleeping posture was comically awful, and couldn’t help but smile helplessly.

He had come to the library intending to identify the creature corresponding to the “White Feather” Toby had described, in hopes of predicting Toby’s next transformation.

In the magazine section of the Ancient River Beach, Angel skimmed through decades of publications of —Magical Creatures and Where to Find Them—, including regular issues, special editions, annuals, and festival editions. Toby had also looked through them for an entire afternoon alongside him.

Regrettably, Toby didn’t find the creature corresponding to the White Feather.

There were a few that bore similarities, but these were inconsequential. The similar creatures ranged from birds to mammals, and there were even some aquatic feathered fish.

So, this library trip was somewhat disappointing.

But it wasn’t a complete waste. At least, thanks to this visit, Angel became familiar with many magical beasts he had previously not known about.
