Why is Angel here? How did he get here? And did he see me in this disheveled state?

A myriad of questions rose in Helen’s heart, and the more she thought about them, the more restless her emotions became.

Suddenly, a faint blush appeared on Helen’s face. Initially, Little Six thought Helen was embarrassed upon seeing Angel, but in the next moment, Helen abruptly covered her mouth with her hand. Her chest heaved repeatedly, and a trace of crimson blood seeped through the gaps between her fingers.

Little Six’s expression turned into one of panic, “Helen, what’s wrong with you?” She reached out, wanting to touch Helen, but fearing she might harm her, she quickly turned to Angel with pleading eyes, seeking his help.

Angel remained silent, stepped forward, and supported Helen by her shoulders.

Helen herself was unclear about what was happening. All she knew was amidst the whirlwind of questions and mounting anxiety, she suddenly lost control over her body. A metallic sweetness surged up her throat, immediately followed by a powerful urge to vomit.

Not wanting to lose face in front of Angel, Helen covered her mouth, but the blood she vomited still trickled out.

Even after throwing up, Helen didn’t feel any better. Instead, her body ached even more, as if every organ was being churned and twisted. Coupled with her emotional turmoil, not only did her physical body suffer extreme pain, but her mental distress and psychological pressure also escalated rapidly.

It could be said that this was her most painful moment since returning to Little Six’s home, apart from the first day.

She clutched her aching chest, gasping for breath continuously. However, there was no sign of relief. In contrast, with each deep breath she took, the pain in her body became even more pronounced.

Just when Helen felt she was on the verge of breaking down, a gentle force suddenly entered her body.

This force was like the morning star of a long night. While it wasn’t overwhelmingly powerful, it carried a radiant energy. Just a hint of it penetrated her body, seemingly piercing the endless darkness, allowing Helen, who had been submerged in a painful, prolonged night, to see the first light of dawn.

As the dawn’s first light broke through the gloom, Helen’s internal organs, tumultuous as if caused by an upheaval of mountains and overturning of seas, returned to their rightful places.

The agony gradually receded, and her sanity returned.

When Helen became aware of her surroundings, she heard a husky chuckle that seemed to come from deep within a throat, “The sudden change in your emotions has aggravated your internal injuries. So, were you that agitated to see me?”

The speaker was, of course, Angel.

Upon hearing this, a blush crept onto Helen’s face. Unlike the previous blush which was almost caused by the urge to vomit blood, this blush was one of pure embarrassment.

However, upon witnessing this, a concerned Little Six remarked, “Lord, Helen seems to be off again; her complexion has changed.”

Hearing this, Helen felt an even more intense heat on her cheeks, wishing she could hide away in embarrassment.

Angel, sensing the remnants of his energy still within Helen, understood the true nature of her blush and said softly, “Don’t worry. Although Helen’s condition is still somewhat unpredictable, I’ll keep an eye on her.”

Hearing this, Little Six was finally reassured. Helen shot a grateful glance at Angel. She knew that Angel must have realized, but in order to spare her further embarrassment, he chose not to point it out.

Such a gentle and considerate gesture made Helen reminisce about their time on the Cloud Conch ship. It was precisely Angel’s gentleness, which starkly contrasted with other extraordinary beings, that made Helen gradually fall for him.

Although, the memories of that bittersweet one-sided romance only lingered during their time at sea. After Angel had tactfully turned her down, those feelings never surfaced again. But that fluttering feeling in her heart was something Helen never forgot.

Now, her emotions seemed to travel back to that time, resurfacing once more.

However, this time, Helen recognized that this wasn’t love or infatuation but pure gratitude.

She calmed the erratic beat of her heart and whispered, “Thank you.”

Angel said, “There’s no need for thanks. Do you still remember the words I spoke to you when the Cloud Conch passed by the Beacon of Dawn?”

The Beacon of Dawn, located on the Cape of Dawn, is an entry and exit point in the Devil’s Sea. It is also the last lighthouse the Cloud Conch encounters before reaching its destination——the Feran Continent.

On that very day, Helen hinted that once she entered the Wizarding World, she might want to pursue Angel as her goal.

At that time, during the darkest hour just before dawn, Angel, gazing at the faint light on the horizon, said to her, “While I don’t mind being the target of your pursuit, whether in the Wizarding World or the mundane world, the goal one should always hold in their heart is not someone else, but oneself. Chasing after oneself, realizing oneself, surpassing oneself — this is what you should aim for.”

As he finished speaking, dawn arrived, casting a radiant light upon his face. Even though Angel appeared as a disheveled middle-aged man, under that illuminating glow, he still looked so dazzling.

How could Helen forget that moment?

“It seems you still remember,” Angel softly remarked, “making yourself the goal, pursuing oneself, realizing and surpassing oneself — it was a piece of advice I gave you. Yet now, it seems you are still far from embracing that advice.”

Helen started, “I…”

Helen wanted to say something, but in the end, she simply let out a soft sigh and didn’t argue further. Over the past half-month, she indeed harbored thoughts of giving up on herself. Angel wasn’t wrong.

Seeing Helen’s expression, Angel knew she understood his point. He didn’t dwell on the topic any further. Helen, possessing the qualities of a witch, would know what she needs to do.

“Let’s get back to the main topic,” Angel began, “Your physical injuries will heal with some rest, but the damage to your mental strength can’t be ignored any longer. If it drops below 10 points, you may never become one with innate talents. By then, regardless of whom you wish to use as your goal, it will all be empty talk.”

Angel succinctly explained how to treat Helen’s mental injuries.

“During the healing process,” he began, “your mental energy might exhibit some resistance or stress. However, this is a natural reaction. It’s essential that you keep it in check, refraining from resisting my mental influence. I will assist in organizing and streamlining it.”

Helen nodded in understanding. “I get it.”

After a brief pause, a hint of hesitation crept into Helen’s voice. “My Lord, how did you come to know of my presence at Livi’s residence?”

Angel’s gaze shifted to Little Six, only now realizing she was named Livi.

Catching the direction of Angel’s look, Helen surmised that it was Little Six’s doing. As she glanced at Little Six, the latter playfully stuck out her tongue. This lively gesture seemed a bit incongruous with her demure appearance, yet to Helen, it was endearingly charming.

Observing Little Six’s expression, Helen could roughly gauge how she managed to invite Angel.

Taking a moment to gather her thoughts, Helen said to Angel, “My Lord, Little Six was just concerned about me. If she has been inadvertently disrespectful in any manner, I implore you to forgive her.”

“I came here willingly,” Angel responded, conveying a sense of ease. “Such minor matters hold no consequence to me.” He gestured for Helen to sit up. “Let’s get started. Your emotions have settled into a rare calm, which will certainly aid in the process of organizing your mental energy.”
