“An arrow?” Horus murmured softly, casting a skeptical glance at Azaz, “How would you know?”

Even though Horus hadn’t utilized any spell, his eerie heterochromatic eyes coupled with the ever-present chilling aura made Azaz feel as though he was exposed in the bitter cold of midwinter.

Azaz hesitated about whether to share the details with Horus. He opened his mouth but ultimately closed it without saying anything.

“Did Sebastian inform you?” Gloria stepped forward at this moment, both inquiring Azaz to provide him an exit and simultaneously shielding him from Horus’s oppressive aura.

Only then did Azaz regain his composure slightly, panting, he nodded, “Yes.”

“Sebastian told me he faintly perceived a radiant object in the void. It seemed to be a glowing Arrow.”

As Azaz spoke, Sanders whispered an explanation to Horus regarding Azaz’s situation. However, he didn’t explicitly mention that Sebastian was a demon but described him as a variable parasite concealed within the void.

After hearing, Horus didn’t comment further. There are always some lucky individuals in the world who experience inexplicable encounters. However, since Sanders described the “entity” behind Azaz as highly unpredictable, it might not just be a fortunate encounter but potentially a bottomless devouring abyss.

Horus shifted his attention back from Azaz to the described arrow.

If what Azaz mentioned was accurate, an arrow that all of them sensed as a harbinger of danger must undoubtedly be of terrifying power.

Yet, why would it traverse the void aiming for Sky Mechanical City?

An arrow naturally has a target. Who might that target be? Whom does it intend to strike?

As Horus pondered over this question, he suddenly heard Sanders’s voice, “Angel, what’s wrong?”

Horus, following Sanders’ words, turned to look at Angel beside him. To his surprise, Angel’s eyes were wide open, as round as saucers. From the expression on his face, it seemed he’d realized something, and he looked deeply troubled.

“Arrow, central district; arrow, central district,” Angel muttered repeatedly, his voice distant, shaking his head as if trying to shake off a daze. “Could it be…”

Suddenly, Angel snapped to attention, and an ethereal, grand gateway materialized right before his eyes.

“I need to verify something,” Angel quickly stated. Without waiting for any reactions from those around him, he stepped through the gateway and vanished.

The rest looked toward the distant sky, where they could vaguely see Angel creating several gateways in quick succession, seemingly heading for Sky Mechanical City!

Without any hesitation, Sanders and Horus immediately followed suit.

Gloria glanced at Azaz and remarked, “The ominous signs have disappeared. We should go and see for ourselves, or perhaps, you’d prefer to stay here?”

Azaz shook his head with determination and joined Gloria.

Meanwhile, after creating several portals, Angel had already reached the central district of Sky Mechanical City. The continuous gateway creation had taken a toll on him; his face looked noticeably paler. However, being on his own this time, it was within his endurance.

He raised his head to look at the towering structure in the distance. Infinite Battle Tower stood majestically before him, so tall that he couldn’t even see its peak.

The reason Angel had rushed here was because he remembered something Antonio had said before. The most powerful believer among the Bud followers had warned Lord Rosen before succumbing to an out-of-control rhythm, saying——

“Punishment will soon befall you. Can you guess from where the arrow will come?”

Though no one understood the implication behind these words, there was no doubt it bore a threatening undertone. And the ominous harbinger directed at Rosen? An arrow!

At that time, Antonio had warned Rosen to remain vigilant. Yet, within just two days, an arrow came flying in their direction.

This arrow, radiating endless brilliance, vanished in the downtown area. It’s notable that Rosen’s usual haunt was Infinite Battle Tower in the city center.

Angel speculated if this might be the arrow alluded to by the followers of the Bud, and without hesitation, hurried over.

On closely inspecting Infinite Battle Tower, Angel found nothing amiss. The walls of the tower were engraved with special runes and showed no signs of being tampered with.

“It seems like everything’s in order,” Angel murmured.

Meanwhile, Angel observed that from every tenth floor of Infinite Battle Tower, like the 10th, 20th, 30th… up to the 50th, apprentices and wizards were emerging, looking perplexed, as if wondering what had occurred outside. This suggested that they remained unaffected inside the tower.

Could it be that the arrow wasn’t intended for Rosen after all?

“Perhaps it’s best to meet Lord Rosen,” Angel pondered aloud. “If he’s unharmed, we could discuss this arrow situation. If something’s happened to him…” Angel didn’t want to entertain the latter thought and headed straight towards the tower’s apex, shrouded in darkness.

Upon reaching the top, there were no signs of damage to the walls.

Yet, for reasons unknown, a nagging feeling of unease welled up within Angel.

If the arrow wasn’t aimed at Rosen, who was its intended target? And where exactly in the downtown area did it land?

“Let’s put these questions aside for now and see what Lord Rosen has to say,” Angel decided, taking out a communication device with the intention of contacting Lord Rosen directly.

However, there was no response from Lord Rosen. Angel then tried reaching out to Antonio, but, unusually, the ever-responsive Antonio remained silent this time.

In Angel’s heart, a sense of foreboding rose once again.

At that moment, on a distant tower top, a part of the wall began to fade away, revealing the silhouette of a familiar figure right before Angel’s eyes.

It was Melanctha Ada.

She was also the daughter of “Mechanical Beast King” Rosen Ada.

The last time Angel had come here, it was Melanctha who had opened the passage for him. However, this time, there was something off about Melanctha’s expression.

A mixture of terror, fear, and traces of confusion and helplessness painted her features.

“What’s wrong? What happened?” Angel asked with evident concern.

Melanctha opened her mouth as if she had experienced a shock. Her lips quivered continuously, yet she couldn’t utter a single word.

Seeing that he wouldn’t get any answers, Angel didn’t press Melanctha further. Instead, he swiftly flew towards the inner corridor.

Melanctha’s demeanor clearly indicated she had undergone a traumatic event. Which meant something had undoubtedly transpired here.

As for what that could be, the only thing Angel could think of was that arrow!

Swiftly arriving at the entrance to the metallic hall, Angel noticed the door was wide open. However, nothing inside was visible.

The reason being, it was filled with a blinding light.

A light so dazzling it hurt the eyes.

“Is this the light… that had disappeared earlier?” A raspy male voice whispered in Angel’s ear.

Looking back, it was Sanders and Horus. At the end of the corridor, two footsteps could still be heard. Gloria was supporting a dazed Melanctha, walking towards them.

“What happened in there?” Horus inquired.

Angel shook his head, “I’m not sure, but the situation might not be too promising.”

As Angel was about to step inside, he was stopped by Sanders grabbing his arm.

“This light is peculiar; it’s blocking all forms of energy detection. Do not enter rashly.”

Angel didn’t sense any immediate danger, and he speculated that Melanctha probably exited from this very room. If she could come out unscathed, it might suggest that the light poses no threat.

However, this was just Angel’s assumption.

Sanders was right, too; without concrete evidence that the light is harmless, it would be best to proceed with caution.
