Chapter 1910 Commencing Integration <TOC> Chapter 1912 Magic System

Skipping the topic of integrating new powers, Angel and Freud continued their conversation. However, it was mostly Freud speaking, with Angel playing the role of a listener.

While Freud was incessantly talking, Angel’s attention remained focused on Sanders. Time flew by, and after three hours, a slight change occurred in Sanders’ usually calm expression.

His brows furrowed deeply, and his face suddenly turned pale.

Noticing this, Freud followed Angel’s gaze towards Sanders.

“Does Lord Phantom Master’s expression seem a bit off?” Concern flashed in Freud’s eyes.

Observing the sweat beads on Sanders’ forehead, Angel inferred from his past experiences, “Perhaps he’s entering a critical phase of power integration. The overwhelming flood of information is certainly not going to be pleasant.”

“Could it be…” a failure?

Freud’s unfinished words were clear to Angel. He shook his head, “We’re at the final step now, the likelihood of failure is low. If it were to fail, it would have happened already, just like your previous integration with the Tree Civilization. The unforeseen variables would have erupted violently, leaving no time for reaction.”

Freud thought back and realized it made sense. If there were any unknown variables, they would have caused trouble much earlier. With this thought, he felt somewhat relieved.

Angel watched Freud’s changing expressions and secretly smiled. Earlier, when mentioning his integration with the Tree Civilization, Freud’s face and eyes would have shown a sudden change, even if he didn’t say anything. But now, there was no such reaction, indicating that Freud was gradually moving past the shadow of his failed integration with the Tree Civilization.

This was precisely why Angel occasionally brought up the Tree Civilization. Now, it seemed, the approach was quite effective.

Time quietly passed, and another hour went by. During this hour, Sanders’ complexion grew increasingly pale, his body drenched in sweat. However, the rapid movement of his eyeballs behind his closed lids indicated that he had not yet reached his limit.

“It should be about time,” Angel said softly.

Freud looked at Angel with confusion: “What do you mean ‘about time’?”

“The information flood has been washing over my mentor’s mental space for over an hour now. The ordinary powers should be nearing their conclusion…” Angel was still speaking when a mysterious breeze blew in, rustling the leaves on the trees.

“How can there be wind here? Isn’t this place completely sealed off?” Freud murmured in confusion.

Angel, momentarily stunned by the swaying leaves, suddenly had a realization, his eyes lighting up: “…It’s not the wind! It’s some unknown energy, prying into inert elements.”

Unknown energy? Prying into inert elements? As Freud pondered these words, he suddenly turned to look at Sanders, whose face was still somewhat pale: “Could it be that Lord Phantom Master has succeeded?”

Angel didn’t respond to Freud’s question, as he had already withdrawn his thoughts from the outside world, immersing all his attention into his mental space.

In the deep, dark mental space, only the Power Tree stood tall in the void, emitting a faint light.

Angel’s focus was also on this dreamlike tree, suspended in the darkness.

Like the tree in the real world, it too was swaying. But its movement wasn’t due to the wind, but rather because of a previously dim light on a newly sprouted branch that was now rapidly brightening.

It was like igniting an old lamp; the burst of light not only made the branches sway more intensely, but its brightness even surpassed the other six light points on the Power Tree.

In the moment of its perpetual illumination, the Power Tree quivered slightly, a mysterious joy touching Angel’s heart through the tree.

This was the Power Tree’s way of informing Angel that a new power had been born.

This also meant that Sanders had successfully taken on the power!

Though Angel had anticipated the success of this power undertaking, the actual moment still thrilled him. Without surprise, this power should be related to the construction of the energy system. Once human-controllable energy appeared in the Wilderness of Dreams, it was akin to infusing the Wilderness with a soul.

Angel was eager to know what this new power was.

He didn’t open his eyes to ask Sanders, but instead, submerged his consciousness into the newly bright spot on the Power Tree.

As Angel’s thoughts delved in, he felt a surging torrent of information rushing toward him.

This flow of information represented the new power. Angel didn’t intend to delve deeply into the new power’s authority, so he blocked most of the information, focusing only on what interested him most.

Firstly, the name of the new power——”Energy Selection.”

The name, somewhat similar to Sanders’ previously integrated power “Power Level Restriction,” differed clearly in scope of authority from its literal meaning.

“Energy Selection: Capable of constructing a corresponding virtual energy system within the Wilderness of Dreams.”

The introduction was brief, its effect summarized in just a sentence. And although its impact might not be as world-shaking as the previous “Tree Civilization” at first appearance, its influence in shaping the Wilderness of Dreams was even more significant.

If it’s possible to construct a “magic” energy system in the Wilderness of Dreams, it also means that they can bring their real strength into the Wilderness of Dreams!

By then, Angel’s concept of Infinite Alchemy could also be realized!

However, Angel also noticed that the description clearly points out that the energy system is “virtual,” which is actually within their expectations. The Wilderness of Dreams itself lies between the Dream Realm and the Nightmare Plane, with a greater proportion belonging to the Dream Realm. Nothing in the Dream Realm is real, so the Wilderness of Dreams also inherits this characteristic. It only appears slightly real as they manipulate the powers.

It just “appears” real.

But in reality, the core of the Wilderness of Dreams is still more inclined towards the Dream Realm.

However, this doesn’t matter much as long as it achieves their purpose. And besides, the virtual energy system, as it currently appears, has an obvious drawback: practicing in the Wilderness of Dreams cannot be reflected back onto the individual.

Simply put, the energy of the Wilderness of Dreams cannot aid the extraordinary beings in their cultivation.

This does not have a significant impact on them, as the Wilderness of Dreams is just a medium to aid in becoming stronger, and their foundation still lies in reality.

Nevertheless, Angel is curious, what if the new residents of the Dream Realm were to cultivate there? It should be possible to retain the effects, as they won’t leave the Wilderness of Dreams again.

But whether this is as he speculates, only future experiments will tell.
