Maya pondered for a while and then gave up. If the eerie ruins could be understood so easily, then the pinnacle wizards Florence and Rhine would not be at a loss.

Rather than pondering so much, it’s better to directly inform Lord Rhine, who has been stationed at the ruins for a long time; perhaps he would know something.

With this thought, Maya stopped pondering and looked around. At this moment, almost everyone in the Star Observing Hall had left except for the Observers.

Maya turned to Totoro and said, “Let’s leave too.”

As Maya was about to leave with Totoro, a slightly sinister voice came from behind: “Witch Maya, wait a moment.”

Upon hearing this voice, Maya’s brow furrowed subconsciously. Turning around, indeed, the speaker was the “Hung Failure” Schickel, the most displeasing among the Observers.

Schickel had a wildly charming and handsome appearance. His upper body was bare, revealing a robust physique covered with coarse black hair. Paired with the horns on his head and the iron chains tied around his ankles, he resembled an ancient demon recorded in old scrolls, using tempting words to lure the indulgent into his trap.

Schickel’s voice was not concealed. When he called Maya, he also attracted the attention of other Observers.

They watched as Schickel, dragging his long chains, approached the cold-faced Maya.

Schickel came in front of Maya and gracefully bowed. If not for his sly gaze and the faint, mischievous smile at the corners of his mouth, he would truly seem like a noble gentleman.

“Lord Schickel, what do you want?” Maya remained cold and indifferent. Her refusal to use his title of Observer showed her disdain for him.

It’s quite normal; Schickel is the youngest Observer, but he’s been slacking off at the Star Observing Days for years, hardly ever reporting his prophetic visions, which has already caused much discontent among other prophecy wizards, some even bluntly calling him ‘a failure indeed.’ Moreover, his fusion with the demonic bloodline of a Ram-horned Demon Lord and his carefree demeanor have made many witches dislike him, often singling him out as a target at tea parties.

The mind of Witch Maya has long passed the era of romance and love; her disdain for Schickel stems more from her belief that his abilities are overrated and that he shows a lack of respect for women.

Schickel, however, doesn’t mind Maya’s attitude and continues with a smile, “I’m here to thank Witch Maya for sharing such a significant prophecy fragment.”

Maya responds indifferently, “It’s my duty, and I would indeed like to hear your speech tomorrow, Lord Schickel.”

Schickel just smiles, not picking up the conversation.

Maya raises an eyebrow, “It seems, Lord Schickel, you still don’t plan to speak tomorrow? No matter, I have to leave now.”

Schickel quickly calls out, “Wait a moment.”

Maya stops, impatient. Though she feels Schickel doesn’t deserve the title of an Observer, she still respects his position.

Just as Maya is about to hear what Schickel has to say, she realizes his gaze isn’t on her but on Totoro.

“I have something I’d like to discuss with your disciple, if that’s okay?” Schickel says, looking at Totoro but addressing Maya.

Maya can clearly see the undeniable interest in Schickel’s eyes as he looks at Totoro.

By now, Maya understands that Totoro didn’t stop her to thank her for sharing the prophecy but for matters concerning Totoro.

Maya’s eyebrows were tightly furrowed: “If you have something to say, you can say it here.”

Schickel still looked towards Totoro, wanting to hear Totoro’s response.

Totoro said, “I will follow my mentor’s advice.”

Schickel shrugged: “Well, actually, what I want to say isn’t anything secretive. It’s fine to speak here.” He paused, Schickel extended his hand as if wanting to touch Totoro, but Maya blocked him with the cane in her hand.

What are you doing? Although Maya didn’t speak, her eyes clearly conveyed this sentiment.

“This is the Star Observing Hall, I certainly won’t harm Totoro. I just want to confirm something,” Schickel said to Maya, his tone less sinister and more conciliatory.

Maya didn’t lower her cane, still watching Schickel with a wary look, obviously not trusting him.

Schickel spread his hands helplessly: “Alright, I just want to confirm Totoro’s past.”

“I always feel that Totoro, with the current time, is filled with estrangement. As if he is not living in the present, but in some unknowable era.”

Schickel’s words, revealing some of his doubts, also prompted some of the Observers present to probe into Totoro. However, no one could see Totoro’s past; everything about him seemed to be shrouded in mist.

Maya also noticed, more and more people’s gazes were on Totoro.

Her mood was slightly heavy, although she knew Totoro’s identity would one day be revealed, now was not the appropriate time.

“Don’t you think Totoro’s time is a bit strange?”

Confronted with Schickel’s confession and confusion, Maya was silent for a long time. She didn’t want to answer, but she knew that it wasn’t just Schickel asking; it might be the attitude of other Observers as well.

Maya: “Everyone has secrets. Probing into others’ secrets without reason isn’t a peaceful act.”

Schickel: “I’m just curious. Whether to answer or not is up to Totoro, isn’t it?”

Maya and Schickel both looked at Totoro, who remained calm, as if he wasn’t the center of attention.

Maya: “The answer is quite clear. My disciple doesn’t want to speak.”

Schickel didn’t give up and said to Totoro again: “How about this? I’ll exchange a spot in the Hall of Time for your secret. How does that sound?”

“Of course, a spot in the Hall of Time is extremely precious, so I need not only your secret but also for you to be my assistant for twenty years.”

Maya was about to forcefully take Totoro and leave, but Schickel’s words made her retract her hand.

A spot in the Hall of Time… That was one of the greatest treasures of the Crown Star Church, second only to the Mystery of Starlight.

The Mystery of Starlight was open to the public, but the Hall of Time was a secret.

Not only was Maya surprised, but the other Observers were also shocked. Exchanging a spot in the Hall of Time for an apprentice’s secret, was it worth it? And as for making Totoro Schickel’s assistant, that was hardly a punishment.

Outsiders might think Schickel’s abilities don’t merit his position, but those within the Observer circle know his strength. While he might not be the strongest in prophecy, he’s certainly far from the weakest. Additionally, his unconventional approach often reveals prophecies even the Crown Star Prophecy Wizards can’t see.

If Totoro were to serve as Schickel’s assistant for twenty years, it would undoubtedly be the best cultivation for him.

Faced with Schickel’s offer, Maya fell silent. Though she was somewhat reluctant, she believed that accepting this deal would not be a disadvantage for Totoro.

In Maya’s view, the secrets of the Laudsourcians would eventually be revealed. Although now might not be the ideal time, the substantial rewards offered make it acceptable.

However, neither Maya nor anyone else can make this decision for Totoro.

Ultimately, it all depends on what Totoro himself thinks, as this is his secret.
