Angel observed the dense fog constructed from the aura of the Nightmare Plane. As he peered deeper, he seemed to see towering stone towers, dark wastelands, and castles overgrown with rose vines… and various other bizarre scenes.

These were all vistas of the Nightmare Plane.

Reveal illusion, project reality. This is a sign of an extremely concentrated aura from the Nightmare Plane.

Tree Spirit said, “Let’s go down; they are all waiting for you on the island. By the way, follow me and make sure to avoid those dense fogs. Although Rhine often clears them, there are always some live wires and parasites lurking inside.”

Although Angel didn’t feel threatened by the dense fog and even felt a vague sense of kinship, he still nodded in agreement with Tree Spirit.

As they flew toward the island, they would inevitably pass through the edges of the dense fog.

In such close contact, Angel perceived even more clearly the majestic aura within the fog. Feeling the aura of the Nightmare Plane that could almost engulf a person, Angel couldn’t help but whisper, “To have such a rich aura of the Nightmare Plane, it seems that the passage inside this ruin might have been largely completed.”

Avoiding the dense fog, Tree Spirit and Angel quickly landed on the island.

Stepping on the gravel beach, Tree Spirit looked up at the dense fog covering the night sky, his eyes filled with confusion: “Why does it feel like the fog became more active when we landed just now? It wasn’t like this during the day. Could it be that the live wires have erupted again in a short time?”

Tree Spirit was puzzled, but he didn’t think much of it and decided to check the ruin later. Even if there really was an eruption of live wires, with Sanders there, it could be controlled within a certain range.

As Tree Spirit looked up at the mist, Angel surveyed the environment on the island.

Before the fog in the sky cleared, it was difficult to discern the details, but upon landing, it was evident that this could hardly be considered an island, more a peninsula. A small tail to the north of the island connected it to a vast wasteland.

The island itself was not large and devoid of trees. More precisely, it lacked vegetation altogether. It was entirely composed of small pebbles, visible at a glance.

Though no remnants were visible to the naked eye, through the lens of psychic vision, Angel could distinctly perceive that at the center of the pebble beach lay a deliberately placed illusionary barrier.

The barrier was seamlessly integrated into its surroundings, making it hard to detect. However, while it could deceive others, the fluctuations from the illusion’s nodes could not escape Angel’s notice.

The wisps of Nightmare Plane aura seeping from the top of the barrier hinted at its true nature.

Behind the illusionary barrier, presumably, lay the peculiar ruins.

As Angel observed the barrier, the ground nearby began to bulge. Accompanied by a series of crackling sounds, a pale skeletal hand emerged from the earth.

Soon, a hole appeared in the pebbly ground. A skeleton clad in a robe, holding a staff, and emanating an aura of death, stood before them.

Without a word, the skeleton waved its staff, and a streak of dark light rushed toward Angel, exploding into a small crater two meters in front of him.

The skeleton’s dark eye sockets fixated on Angel. Had it intended to attack, it wouldn’t have missed. Clearly, it had no intention of attacking Angel but served as a warning.

“This place is forbidden. Proceed no further,” a ghostly voice whispered into Angel’s ear.

Angel wasn’t sure what to make of the skeleton; it seemed like it might have been a setup by the Savage Grottoes. He turned to Tree Spirit to see what it had to say.

However, at that moment, Tree Spirit was pinching its nose and murmuring with a frown, “It looks like Duncan has been slacking off again…”

After saying this, Tree Spirit told Angel, “This skeleton is a Bone Guard summoned by Duncan. He took on a guard mission and has been staying at the ruins, but he’s set up a lab nearby and spends all his days slacking off, just letting the Bone Guard drive people away. The Bone Guard only obeys orders and doesn’t recognize anyone, so even if Rhine came, it would stop him.”

After finishing, Tree Spirit raised its hand, and a green vine shot up from the ground, wrapping around the Bone Guard tightly.

“Don’t mind it, let’s go.” Tree Spirit said, leading the way. As he passed the Bone Guard, he casually whipped out another vine and stripped the staff from the Bone Guard’s hand, toying with it.

Angel glanced at the staff: “This is a necromancer’s staff made from the bones of the deceased and soul stones as the main materials. The Bone Guard can release death auras because of this staff. The quality looks decent, and the maker was skilled.”

Angel made a professional remark and casually asked, “Tree Spirit, why take its staff?”

Tree Spirit chuckled, “You might think this staff is just for show, but for Duncan, it’s his prized possession. If he dares to slack off, then he should taste the consequences of his laziness.”

Angel: “…” That seems a bit childish?

As Tree Spirit played with the staff, it asked Angel, “Earlier, as we were descending, I heard you muttering about a passage being completed. What did you mean by that?”

Angel pondered for a moment: “Even though I haven’t seen the dome, the aura of the Nightmare Plane here is so dense it’s almost tangible. I suspect the inside of the ruins already has a passage to the Nightmare Plane.”

That is to say, the interior of the ruins might have become an Interstitial Space. Actually, to some extent, it could also be considered as beneath the dome.

For ordinary wizards, the danger level inside the ruins is no less than the various domes of the Eternal Night Kingdom.

Tree Spirit doesn’t know much about the passage, but he understood Angel’s words: “Are you saying there’s a passage inside that connects to the Nightmare Plane?”

“It could be said that way.”

“If that’s the case, then what Tuvalu said about seeing those creatures from the Nightmare Plane clutching spatial magic materials and running into the ruins, could it be to open such a passage?” Tree Spirit immediately connected this to the prophecy Maya reported to them not long ago.

Angel thought for a moment: “This is hard to say, because the opening of a passage is not…”

As Angel was about to express his thoughts, a fluctuation like a water ripple suddenly appeared in the illusionary barrier ahead, and immediately following, a dark figure hurriedly stepped out from the ripples.

“Who is it? Who took my staff!”

A hoarse throat sound echoed across the small island.

After the angry shout, his gaze swept around and finally settled on the two people walking towards the illusionary barrier.

When he saw the staff of the Bone Guard being played back and forth by a nearly naked young man, the bluster he had just shouted instantly died down.

“So it’s Your Excellency Tree Spirit Lord…”
