As the sea of light around them gradually dissipated, everyone appeared near Tree Spirit Court in the Mirror World.

A group of traders, very familiar with the process, bowed in gratitude to Vonman, then pushed their goods toward Apprentice Town. Their main transactions were with early-stage apprentices, so they basically resupplied the shops in Apprentice Town or sold goods in the underground market.

A girl clad in a beast skin skirt, like the others, stepped forward to bow to Vonman.

While Vonman remained expressionless as others paid their respects, he let out a cold snort when the girl approached.

Clearly, due to something related to Ludwig, Vonman harbored resentment even towards this innocent girl.

Just as Vonman expressed his dissatisfaction with Ludwig through a cold snort at the girl, a sudden chill wind blew from behind him.

Although Vonman didn’t sense anything wrong in the cold wind, his acute sense of danger made him react swiftly. He ducked, muttering a defensive spell under his breath, and with a flick of his sleeve, hundreds of white-footed tidal spiders scattered around like rain.

In the moment Vonman ducked, he finally saw the situation behind him.

A man with a twisted expression and bloodshot eyes was brandishing a sharp dagger, glowing ominously, attacking Vonman like a gust of wind.

The man’s attack, thanks to Vonman’s prompt crouching, was unsuccessful. But as Vonman shrunk back, the girl in the beast skin skirt was exposed.

At this moment, the man seemed to have lost all reason, fixated only on killing Vonman. He didn’t care about the trembling mortal girl; if she died as a result, it was her own misfortune.

“Jane, be careful, dodge quickly!” Ludwig shouted loudly.

Ludwig had not anticipated that what was meant to be a routine gesture of bowing in gratitude to Vonman for leading them into the Mirror World would suddenly turn into such a calamity.

He hastily transformed into a shadowy figure, attempting to pull the young girl Jane out of the range of the attack.

However, he was still some distance from Jane. Yet, the man wielding the dagger had already approached her. More importantly, this man was an apprentice of the bloodline branch!

Although, like Vonman, he was only a late-stage first level apprentice, members of the bloodline branch, regardless of their level, generally outclassed their peers. Their strength, speed, reaction, and burst capabilities were all exceptionally powerful.

Even just considering the physical strength manifested in the material world, he was somewhat more formidable than Ludwig, who had not yet fused with a bloodline.

Thus, even for Ludwig, rescuing Jane at this moment was not going to be easy.

Indeed, Jane could have chosen to duck like Vonman did, and perhaps she could have avoided the disaster, as the man’s primary target was to kill Vonman, not a mortal girl.

But Jane didn’t have such quick reflexes, and moreover… the ground was covered with white-footed tidal spiders, which were originally venomous crawlers. After being enhanced by Vonman’s summoning abilities, they were deadly to any ordinary person upon contact.

Thus, Jane was virtually trapped on an island. With the dagger-wielding man in front and tidal spiders behind.

It seemed as though death was her inevitable destiny.

As the man with the dagger drew closer and closer, a look of utter despair appeared in Jane’s own eyes.

Just as a sharp dagger was about to strike Jane right in front of her eyes, a white tendril suddenly appeared in front of her. Before Jane could react, the tendril gently wrapped around her and pulled her out of the perilous situation. Her body arched in a parabola and landed behind Ludwig.

Still disoriented, Jane’s expression was one of utter confusion until she hit the ground, stirring up a cloud of dust, and gradually came to her senses.

Lifting her head, through her dust-clouded eyes, Jane faintly saw a white tendril resembling a bone whip slashing through the air before merging into the body of a red-haired man not far away.

“Was I… was I saved?” Jane murmured in a daze.

At this moment, Ludwig also landed beside Jane, confirming she was unharmed before turning his gaze to the red-haired man in the distance.

However, the red-haired man, Angel, wasn’t paying attention to Ludwig. Instead, he was watching with interest as Vonman battled the dagger-wielding man. Yes, Angel was observing Vonman’s fight against the dagger man. Although it was a fight between novices, he was Vonman’s guide and wanted to see what Vonman had learned in the Savage Grottoes and how he had improved.

He saved the girl named Jane simply as a matter of convenience. In battles among the extraordinary, involving ordinary people, especially in the territory of the Savage Grottoes, would be beneath their dignity.

After watching for a while, Angel shook his head. Vonman was performing adequately, with a strong fighting spirit. Although he sustained several cuts, none were fatal. However, the dagger man, a bloodline branch apprentice, was significantly lacking. His timing for activating his bloodline, his use of the dagger at a novice level, unnecessary combat details, and most importantly, his judgment clouded by rage, all pointed to his imminent defeat.

Vonman showed no obvious weaknesses, yet this strongest peer on the bloodline branch was riddled with flaws. Angel deduced it wouldn’t be long before the dagger man would be defeated.

As expected, it didn’t take even two minutes. In the moment when the dagger-wielding man was blinded by rage and further provoked by the actions of Vonman, he failed to notice a white-footed tidal spider quietly approaching his side, delivering a venomous bite to his exposed ankle.

The toxin invaded instantly. The man with the dagger felt a blur before his eyes and began to sway.

Seizing the opportunity, Vonman commanded all the tidal spiders, which clambered onto the man’s body. In almost an instant, he was covered by hundreds of densely packed spiders.

The next second, green fluid oozed from the man’s body as he collapsed to the ground.

“Vonman…” the man mumbled a name with a blurred gaze towards the sky, as if wanting to grind the name into his soul and take it to the Abyss in death.

Vonman approached the fallen man without hesitation, picked up his dagger, and plunged it fiercely into the man’s heart.

As the lifeblood spurted out, the light of life gradually extinguished.

Though Vonman was also covered in blood from multiple wounds, a smile crept across his face as he looked at the dead man. It was a smile filled with coldness, cruelty, and a touch of madness.

Ludwig sighed softly as he watched Vonman.

Ludwig didn’t judge Vonman’s actions but turned his gaze toward Angel, who was standing in the distance, intending to say a few words.

However, before Ludwig could approach, Angel took the initiative to walk over.

Yet, Angel didn’t speak to Ludwig. Instead, he walked past him to the corpse of the man with the dagger.

As Ludwig turned his head in confusion, he saw that Angel wasn’t examining the dead man but was conversing with a figure who had abruptly appeared at the scene.

The almost nude figure, Ludwig was all too familiar with it.

One of the three ancestral spirits.

Tree Spirit Lord!

In Ludwig’s eyes, Tree Spirit Lord was a representation of utmost power, yet at this moment, Tree Spirit was conversing amicably with the red-haired man.

A conversation! One that implied equality!

Ludwig didn’t need to guess; Tree Spirit’s demeanor said it all. Without a doubt, the identity of this red-haired man was nothing less than that of a formal wizard.

Having confirmed this, Ludwig had no further desire to engage but instead, grabbed Jane, preparing to make a swift departure from the place.

Jane, still in a daze, naturally followed as Ludwig led her away. However, before leaving, she turned her head to look towards the distant benefactor.

Against the backlight, the silhouette of red hair appeared towering.

Jane paused for a moment; that silhouette seemed to overlap with an image from her memory.
