Originally, it was indeed Liana who had asked Angel to persuade Lord Rhine to change the standard crystal ball design. At that time, Liana thought that with Angel becoming a member of the Research Institute, perhaps Lord Rhine might listen to his advice.

Now, hearing Angel’s words, did he really manage to persuade Lord Rhine? Even more so, had he already started working on a new communication device?

Liana was delighted in her heart: “So it is. Then I’ll leave the Kudou to you. You must develop it well. If you need more hands, speak up promptly. Even if it requires a formal wizard, I believe some wouldn’t mind exerting a bit of effort.”

Most of the wizards from the Savage Grottoes couldn’t accept the crystal ball, having used it for over a thousand years; they were truly tired of it.

Especially Liana, just a few days ago, she was thinking about the witches attending the tea party. Seeing the old crystal balls used everywhere in the Savage Grottoes, even if they didn’t say anything, they probably scoffed in their hearts.

But there was nothing she could do. Liana could argue with Tree Spirit at the tea party venue because Lord Rhine would definitely stand on her side. But the crystal ball was related to Lord Rhine’s preferences… no, rather his quirks. How could he possibly change? The fact that not all standard wizard robes and vehicles were covered in crystal ball patterns was already Lord Rhine’s exceptional kindness.

So, even though Liana knew she would be mocked by other witches at the tea party, she could only endure.

But now, Angel said he was researching information exchange, isn’t that a new communicator?! How could Liana not be excited? If they could release it before the tea party, that would be even better.

However, Liana herself was an alchemist, and she knew that the development and research of an alchemical device were not that simple. Probably, it wouldn’t be ready before the tea party.

But even so, Liana was fully supportive. She had had enough of the crystal ball and was ready for a change, not demanding anything beyond that.

Even though Liana knew that the most important thing for Kudou to do now was to intensify his training, she still wholeheartedly supported him and allowed Kudou to join Angel’s research.

Angel, observing Liana’s excited eyes, had a rough understanding of her thoughts.

Inwardly, Angel let out a wry smile. He really wanted to say: You’ve probably misunderstood; he hadn’t persuaded Rhine Mute to change the standard design of the crystal ball communicators.

But after some thought, Angel decided not to reveal the truth to Liana. After all, in the future, if the Login Devices of the Wilderness of Dreams become widespread in the Savage Grottoes, crystal balls would naturally be phased out, which could be considered… a roundabout way of saving the kingdom.

Angel didn’t want to dwell too much on the topic of crystal balls and quickly changed the subject: “You said you needed my help with something?”

Liana nodded. Because there were a few apprentices nearby, she didn’t speak directly but subtly moved her lips, conveying her message to Angel through a spell.

After hearing Liana’s words, Angel didn’t react much, but Tree Spirit beside them smiled.

Tree Spirit’s smile didn’t mean that Liana had said something pleasant. It simply meant: Great, I’m not the only one on this path! There’s someone else with me!

Liana hoped to get Angel’s help in crafting some special alchemy tools before the tea party. They didn’t need to be particularly practical, but they had to accentuate the grandeur of this tea party.

While this might sound somewhat vain, every edition of the tea party is like this, with “comparison” being omnipresent.

Vanity and competition might not be commendable traits, but they often serve as a driving force for the development of the tea party, even making it more grandiose and turning it into a top-tier event in the Wizarding World of the Southern Region.

This is probably something many male wizards fail to understand.

Tree Spirit didn’t quite understand but seeing Liana targeting Angel, he felt a bit of schadenfreude and thus chuckled. However, after laughing, he felt a bit sad, knowing too well the empathy for Angel’s plight from being in the vortex himself.

Surprisingly to Tree Spirit, after hearing Liana’s suggestion, Angel didn’t show the extreme resistance he expected but instead pondered seriously.

Liana thought Angel would outright refuse, but his serious consideration somewhat embarrassed her.

“I didn’t realize you were still working on the communicator. If you’re too busy, I can go to Achillea Comprehensive College to find someone else,” Liana said, taking a step back since the tea party was a one-time event and the communicator was more important.

Angel pondered, “Let’s postpone this for a few days.”

“A few days?” Liana didn’t understand what he meant. If it was a no, it would be better to reject her earlier so she could seek help from Achillea. Why postpone?

Tree Spirit was also puzzled, not understanding Angel’s thoughts. He’d spoken of seeking talents in a few days, and now it was the same with Liana’s request.

Was there some trick up his sleeve?

Facing the puzzlement of Tree Spirit and Liana, Angel blinked, adopting White Bear’s tone and spoke like a fortune-teller, cryptically saying, “Because in a few days, there might be New Variables.”

“New variables?” Liana was even more confused. It was just about crafting a few alchemical items for show; how did that relate to variables?

“Could it be that, in a few days, something earth-shattering will happen, a major event that even the tea party cannot be held? The Demon God’s descent, or an invasion of another plane?” Liana found it unthinkable; if such a significant event were to occur, the Observers on the Star Observing Day would surely mention it.

“What I’m talking about in terms of variables, won’t make it impossible to hold a tea party, but it might indeed change some of the usual patterns of the tea party,” Angel said. “As for what it specifically is, you’ll know once the variable appears. Anyway, it won’t take more than a few days.”

Liana and Tree Spirit are still in the dark, but since Angel said that the variable would appear within a few days, they could wait.

“Well, alright, I’m quite looking forward to what you say this variable will be.”

“You’ll know when the time comes.” Angel spoke in a mysterious tone, making a prediction, then his tone changed, speaking in a lazy voice: “There shouldn’t be anything else, right? I’ll take them and go first.”

Liana: “You’re not staying on Phantom Island now?”

Angel nodded: “I’m temporarily staying in the ruins of the outside world. If you need me, you can come to find Tree Spirit, he knows where I am.”

With that, Angel gestured for Baruba and the two little ones to follow, turning around and heading towards the main gate.

Liana watched as Angel’s figure disappeared from view, her brows slightly furrowed.

“When he talked about the variable, he was very certain. I have a premonition that the variable he mentioned might be extraordinary.” Although Liana does not understand what Angel is referring to as the variable, the fact that Angel is so concerned about it makes Liana take it seriously.

“No matter the variable, if it could resolve the issue of the tea party space, that would be great…” Tree Spirit murmured softly.

Liana turned her head: “Impossible, not even Angel could conjure a suitable space out of thin air. So, Tree Spirit Lord, make your decision quickly, so I can start arranging things sooner.”

Tree Spirit choked, her eyes whirling quickly: “Uh… Rhine has something for me, I’ll go there first, we’ll talk later.”

With those words, Tree Spirit closed his eyes and feigned death.

If it were like before, Liana would have woken Tree Spirit up to continue the conversation. But today, with the new communicator found, freeing her from the old crystal ball, Liana was in a good mood and refrained from saying more.

After all, Tree Spirit would agree eventually. She didn’t rush, as Lord Rhine would surely urge him too.

Thinking this, Liana also followed Angel’s steps, turning to leave.
