At the Star Pool Ruin.

As the moonlight reflected the stars in the shallow pool, the three observation pavilions situated around the Star Pool began to absorb the shimmering light. The absorbed light eventually concentrated at the top of each pavilion, simultaneously emitting beams towards the other pavilions.

When the beams connected all the pavilions, an invisible barrier, imperceptible to the naked eye, completely enveloped the Star Pool ruin.

Wallace floated above one of the observation pavilions, calling out to Rhine who stood at the center of the Star Pool, “Truly, it’s worthy of being designed by Aesop. The spatial nodes are perfectly positioned for optimal division. Currently, I’m detecting no anomalies here; the barrier can likely withstand impacts up to the pinnacle of a second level true knowledge.”

Iron Armor Granny didn’t ascend into the air but remained seated inside the pavilion, her lips barely moving as she said, “All is well on my end too.”

After confirming that the other two pavilions could maintain their function, Rhine looked towards the center of the Star Pool. Through the reflective surface, he peered into the deep passage of an alternate dimension.

Just like what Rhine had seen before, there were no abnormalities where the starlight shone. Nor was there any sign of the creature wearing leather shoes that Sanders had mentioned. However, this didn’t guarantee the safety of the passage.

In the dark shadows not illuminated by light, hidden dangers too subtle to detect might lurk.

“What are you still pondering?” As Rhine intently observed the passage, a languid voice from Tree Spirit came from behind, “Don’t forget, every minute the Light Barrier is active, it consumes tens of thousands of magic crystals.”

Tree Spirit seemed to be merely stating facts, but the urgency in its tone was clear.

Rhine glanced at Tree Spirit without a word, then gently touched the surface of the water.

As ripples spread across the surface, Tree Spirit’s lazy demeanor faded, and both Wallace and Iron Armor Granny in the distance showed a look of solemnity.

Although they couldn’t see the surging aura of the Nightmare Plane, they knew the appearance of ripples signified that the passage to the… ruins had opened.

“I’m going in,” Rhine said, his voice steady and without fluctuation.

“Alright, be careful,” Tree Spirit’s voice shifted from languid to serious.

Rhine nodded, leaped forward, and jumped into the ripples. It was like breaking through a layer of water; in the blink of an eye, Rhine stood within a dark and deep corridor.

From the outside, it seemed like a downward tunnel. However, once he entered, gravity seemed to adjust automatically, and he stood firmly on the ground.

This also indicated that the ruins beneath the Star Pool were not actually in reality. Its only connection to reality was the layer of water behind him, its true form still hidden in the unknown void.

Rhine didn’t look back but closed his eyes to sense his surroundings.

Just like before, his mental power couldn’t penetrate the walls, and what lay beyond them remained undetectable, likely due to the magic formations still active within the walls. With Rhine’s strength, he could shatter the walls, but doing so would undoubtedly provoke a backlash from the magic energy formation, and the resulting situation would be unpredictable.

Moreover, breaking the walls would surely alert the Nightmare Plane creatures in the core of the ruins, and his goal this time wasn’t to clear out such creatures. Therefore, unless absolutely necessary, Rhine had no intention of destroying the ruins.

His mental exploration could only delve deeply inward, but when it reached the place Where Light and Darkness Met, it could go no further.

At that dark interface, it was as if there was the most solid mental barrier, impenetrable by mental power alone.

Although he could explore little, Rhine could at least confirm that within the range of light, there was no danger.

Don’t be fooled by the seemingly clear range of light; the reality is quite different. On his last visit to this corridor, Rhine noticed some invisible, snotty creatures lurking within the illuminated area. These transparent creatures, known as Void Travelers, had once attacked him upon sensing his presence. However, their assault was feeble, causing no harm to Rhine. Surprised by their own ineffectiveness, they bounced away and vanished into thin air.

No matter how much Rhine searched, he couldn’t locate where these snotty creatures had gone. Later, he researched and confirmed their name: Void Travelers, a peculiar existence that thrives in the void.

There isn’t much documentation about them, as wizards rarely encounter these beings, and even when they do, capturing them is almost impossible. It’s known that they wander aimlessly through the void.

Another reason wizards tend not to pay much attention to them is their relative weakness, posing no significant threat even to apprentices.

Having encountered Void Travelers before made Rhine particularly cautious. Who knows what other creatures might be lurking unseen?

After ensuring the illuminated area was safe, Rhine proceeded forward.

Soon, he arrived at the place where light and dark intersected. He paused for a moment at the spot where Sanders had previously seen the creature wearing leather shoes.

After a brief halt, Rhine continued forward, quickly swallowed by the darkness.

Outside, Tree Spirit, observing Rhine’s movements, whispered softly, “I hope there won’t be any changes in the ruins.”

Once Rhine entered the darkness, he didn’t encounter the so-called creature with leather shoes. However, the area was slightly different from his previous visit——

In front of him, a giant skull floating mid-air drooled foul saliva toward him.

On the ground, one could faintly see traces eroded by the saliva. Meanwhile, behind this skull, vague shadows flickered, and blood-red eyes emitted a cruel and ferocious gleam in the darkness.

Once a peaceful passageway, it had become infested with horrifying creatures unbeknownst to all.

When Angel received the message from Tree Spirit, it was nearing midnight.

Emerging from the ruins, Angel saw Tree Spirit standing under a tree in deep thought.

Upon hearing Angel’s footsteps, Tree Spirit slowly lifted its head and said, “You’ve come. I’ll go and notify Sanders…”

Angel shook his head: “No need, I’ve already spoken to my mentor. He’ll be here soon.”

Tree Spirit was momentarily stunned: “You spoke to him?”

Seeing Angel nod, Tree Spirit looked utterly confused… When had this conversation happened?

He had been here all the while and hadn’t seen Angel communicating with Sanders. Even if a Nightmare Illusion Message was sent, he would have noticed.

Could it be that Angel’s long-distance spell could now break through the Mirror World? That seemed impossible. Even Rhine using the long-distance spell to send messages to the Mirror World was detectable by Tree Spirit, let alone Angel.

Or was Angel just bluffing?

While Tree Spirit was still baffled, footsteps sounded from behind him.
