Chapter 798 The Fermenting Aftermath

Chapter 797 Regrettable Farewell <TOC> Chapter 799 The Rose Trading Company

For the first time, Drew beheld the Gondola, a flying vessel of such radiant beauty that it outshone even the deliberately sculpted masterpieces of grand masters.

The carvings were shrouded in starlight, bubbles ceaselessly emerging from the bottom of the ship as if it were sailing through water. Wherever they journeyed, it seemed, there was an ocean!

Sitting on the Gondola, Drew was so captivated that he scarcely knew where to place his hands and feet. Amid this dazzling spectacle, he even managed to ignore the pain of his missing ear.

As time slowly passed, Drew gradually acclimated to the rhythm of the Gondola, freeing him to observe his surroundings.

“Lord Pat, are we returning to the Vast Continent now?” Drew asked curiously.

Angel, who was half-dozing against the ship’s railing, didn’t open his eyes at Drew’s voice. “Not so fast,” he responded directly, “I still have to recruit some talented individuals from other continents. The next stop is the Revelation Continent.”

Drew glanced at the emerging Dawn Island in the distance. Hesitating until the Gondola had flown to the top of the Beacon of Dawn, he said, “But, my Lord, we are about to enter the Devil’s Sea territory. The Revelation Continent… isn’t it on the other side?”

Angel’s eyes shot open. “The Devil’s Sea? Are you certain?”

While speaking, Angel glanced below, unsurprised to see the Beacon of Dawn. This lighthouse, located on the Cape of Dawn, served as a supply station for those entering and exiting the Devil’s Sea territory. It was here that the Cloud Conch had passed when it left the Devil’s Sea.

Angel could still remember the jubilant islanders the last time they passed…

“I was sure I followed the sea chart,” Angel took out the chart, studying it but finding no answers. Yet the present circumstances told him that he had indeed strayed.

“Cough, it seems we have gone in the wrong direction,” Angel covered his mouth with his hand, feigning a cough, “Do you know where we should head now?”

Drew silently took the sea chart, then pointed in a direction, “My Lord, we should go this way.”

“Then let’s go this way,” Angel paused, unashamedly continuing, “Ah, I have been so engrossed in my research lately that I’ve mixed up my directions. How about this, you hold on to the sea chart, and you can also operate the Gondola. It’s just that my research has reached a crucial point.”

As he spoke, Angel gave Drew no chance to refuse, immediately teaching him how to steer the Gondola.

Since Drew had not yet constructed a mental model and had no energy in his body, the energy supply still came from Angel. All Drew needed to do was control the direction.

Far from finding this troublesome, Drew was so excited by the prospect of steering the Gondola that he was thrilled for the rest of the day.

Once Drew had familiarized himself with the control rune, they finally reached a new ocean—The Blackberry Sea.

This was a vast expanse of water once conquered by Nausica, whose title bestowed upon herself in Sky Tower was even an extension of that past glory, named Blackberry Queen! This revealed Nausica’s deep attachment to this sea.

Seeing Angel not engrossed in his research, rather lazily basking in the sea breeze, Drew took the initiative to introduce the sea region.

Drew also mentioned Nausica, his words laden with admiration and respect for her. Intrigued, Angel inquired about the reason, to which Drew replied somewhat sheepishly, “Actually, all these were told to me by the deputy captain Helen. I was also awed to hear that Lady Asbay could conquer such a vast sea, which is simply comparable to the legendary pirate Tulas.”

Angel, observing the twinkling stars in Drew’s eyes, calmly responded, “Perhaps once you enter the Wizarding World, you may have the fortune to meet both of these legendary pirates.”

Drew failed to comprehend Angel’s meaning, and Angel had no intention to explain. He was still brooding, especially upon hearing the name of Tulas from Drew, which further dampened his mood. So, he continued to lean lazily on the ship’s side, enjoying the breeze and dozing off.

Meanwhile, as Angel was heading to the Revelation Continent on the Gondola, a surge of unrest emerged in the wizarding world of the Southern Region.

The source of this undercurrent was naturally the anticlimactic “grand event” in the Devil’s Sea.

Many from the wizard organizations had rushed to participate, only to find an almost dying subspace with nothing inside. This left many wizards who had made the trip in vain full of grievances.

They dared not direct their complaints towards Song of the Deep Sea and Summer Dew Ridge as these two organizations had originally intended to suppress the news and even blocked the way for the prophecy wizards. They had forcibly joined in despite the odds, so they were grateful enough not to be held accountable by these two organizations, let alone blame them.

However, the grievances from a wasted trip needed an outlet.

Hence, they all blamed the one who spread the rumors—Merayesha.

For a while, all sorts of public opinions were directed at Merayesha. But as a true knowledge wizard, backed by Sky Mechanical City, even the harshest criticisms had little effect on him.

Over time, this issue should gradually fade from the public eye.

However, just at this juncture, a new upheaval arose, instigated by a magazine considered the most authoritative by wizards of the Southern Region: —Forest of Time—.

As —Forest of Time— is a magazine jointly compiled by the Council of True Knowledge of the City of Truth, it inherently represents the highest authority.

The City of Truth, as the name suggests, is an ambitious entity. Its scale aligns with this aspiration.

The City of Truth, as a wizard organization monopolizing the “Aetherial World,” is of greater scale than the Savage Grottoes and Sky Mechanical City. Even Mengke, a present dignitary of the Frost Moon Alliance, was once a part of the City of Truth, and he still remains a significant member of the Council of True Knowledge.

This testifies to the clout of the —Forest of Time—.

—Forest of Time— is published every ten years, and it is now time for the new edition. As per tradition, it primarily announces authoritative news and spells from the Wizarding World. For example, several pages were dedicated to Sumesh’s ascension to True Knowledge, and Gloria’s Original Spell dominated almost half the space, which also mentioned Angel.

However, these are not the crux.

Observant readers discovered a new spell regarding prophecy shielding in —Forest of Time—. It even cited the recent uproar in the Devil’s Sea Area, specifically discussing the prophecy shielding flaw of the Silver Palm Island, and even openly revealed a fact that the Song of the Deep Sea would rather keep hidden:

“Through the new spell, we easily cracked the shielding flaw near Silver Palm Island. According to our estimation, there are indeed fluctuations of a Mysterious Object leaking out from the vicinity of Silver Palm Island. After multiple prophecy verifications, the previously rumored ‘Strategic Mysterious Object’ is essentially true. However, regretfully, this item was lost before the Leviathan could break open the gate. As for where it was lost and who took it, since there’s no basis, the resources required for prophecy are enormous, and we have temporarily given up on speculating.”

This mere paragraph, initially just an example in the new spell, stirred up even greater waves than before.

It turns out that Merayesha wasn’t lying; there truly was a tremendous opportunity in the desolate subspace.

Most importantly, according to the exact words of —Forest of Time—, none of the wizard organizations that went there got hold of that Mysterious Object, even the Song of the Deep Sea and Summer Dew Ridge, who had an absolute advantage, didn’t gain anything.

This led to a series of subsequent speculations. Who exactly acquired that Mysterious Object? And what purpose does that Mysterious Object serve that even the Council of True Knowledge acknowledges it as a “Strategic” Mysterious Object?

Everyone was waiting for a wizard organization to voluntarily disclose it.

However, none did.

This made some people secretly contemplate that obtaining the Mysterious Object and not revealing it could imply that the wizard organization’s standing might not be substantial, unable to protect themselves if exposed; or perhaps, it had fallen into the hands of a wizard family or even an individual.

This thought did not arise in just one person, as they all seemed silent and went their separate ways, but there was an undercurrent brewing in secret, quietly stirring, waiting for the right moment to explode.

At this time, even Sanders, who was located in the Abyss, received this news. He read the magazine —Forest of Time— and remained silent for a long time.

On the other side of the Magic Hut sat Canter, Like the Night.

Canter glanced at the apprentices outside, who were busily constructing the base, and a mocking smile appeared at the corner of his mouth. Turning his head, he found Sanders deep in thought, while Samantha, who had been sitting with her eyes closed, had opened them at some point and was discreetly staring at Sanders.

Pretending to be profound and still attracting female attention, how unfair! Canter cursed inwardly, then walked over, grabbed the —Forest of Time— magazine from the table, and asked, “Hey, what did you see? Why are you wearing such a bitter and deep expression of hatred?”

Bitter and deep hatred? Sanders raised an eyebrow. Was he?

Canter didn’t say anything, and directly opened the page of —Forest of Time— that Sanders had bookmarked.

After reading it, Canter clicked his tongue twice, “So, are you planning to pay attention to this Mysterious Object of unknown whereabouts?”

Sanders replied indifferently, “Who wouldn’t be curious about a Mysterious Object? Especially a rare, Strategic Mysterious Object. But we’re in the Abyss now, so let’s not think about these trivial matters.”

“Then why are you looking so contemplative? Is it to attract…” Canter glanced at Samantha with the corner of his eye.

Samantha gave a cold smile, stood up, and walked out of the Magic Hut without looking back.

“I’ve said it before, I’m not interested in broken glass.” Sanders spoke calmly.

Canter then recalled Samantha’s contrasting lip color, reminiscent of shattered glass, and couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Fine, I accept your reasoning. So, what are you contemplating?” Canter asked curiously.

Sanders shook his head, “I was thinking, if Angel plans to return to Edge Island, he should be passing through the Devil’s Sea at this time. I hope he doesn’t get involved in this matter.”

Canter: “Aren’t you overthinking it? The Devil’s Sea is so vast, and he’s just an apprentice. How could he possibly get involved in something of this magnitude? Besides, I think Angel is more of an academic type and should know how to handle himself.”

Sanders only responded with a smile.

Although Angel appeared harmless, his ability to cause trouble was on par with Flora and Sumesh, and he even occasionally harbored thoughts of him destroying the world.

“Let’s hope so.” Sanders sighed.
