The point that Freud brought up, Angel also found it a bit peculiar.

Why would the Dream Conch, which could only be activated by dream energy, be activated by him?

The energy he used to activate the Dream Conch was not dream-energy, but of nightmare illusion power. He had only tried it on a whim, yet in the end, it was successfully activated, which surprised him at the time.

Angel wanted to ask Freud about it at that time, but with Eniya present, it wasn’t a good time to speak up.

“Lord Pat, is the energy you used the power of illusion spells?” Freud asked once again.

The power of nightmare illusions is essentially the incorporation of the Nightmare Plane’s power into illusions. To put it another way, it is indeed a special type of illusion. Angel nodded, “You could say that.”

“Then, forgive my audacity to ask, is this illusionary power similar to the illusionary realm where I resided previously?”

Angel continued to nod.

Freud had previously lived in the Cathedral of the Dead, and the illusionary realm he had constructed did indeed possess the power of nightmare illusions. The reason Freud could touch the creations in the illusionary realm directly with his soul was also due to the existence of nightmare illusions.

“Now I feel that my research may really have a chance of success.” A spark of brilliance flashed in Freud’s eyes, “Your illusion spell can activate the Dream Conch, which is equivalent to building a bridge. Next, it’s a matter of solving the unresolved issues one by one.”

Freud’s mind began to imagine the various problems that might exist within this. His thoughts were like a wild horse freed from its reins, indulging in all sorts of fanciful speculations.

If not for Angel’s intentional coughing, Freud might have been immersed in his thoughts indefinitely.

When Freud came back to his senses, there was a moment of confusion in his eyes, but the next second it turned into fervent gaze. He looked at Angel with pleading eyes, “Lord Pat, can I continue to follow you? Continue to research the issues of the Dream Conch and the illusionary realm, and then pursue my own goals.”

Angel did not immediately agree to Freud’s request, but fell into thought instead.

The activation of the Dream Conch by nightmare illusions was an unexpected occurrence. However, from this, Angel also saw some hope. It’s possible that Freud’s research might actually become reality.

However, if he really allowed Freud to continue his research, he would inevitably need to understand nightmare illusions. And the information related to nightmare illusions was strictly forbidden by Sanders for external transmission.

Seeing Angel remaining silent, Freud’s initially fervent mood suddenly became anxious. The research topic had foreseeable transcendental value in the future, and he thought Angel would agree immediately.

But it seems that there are some difficulties in between that make Angel hesitate?

After an extended silence, Angel finally broke the silence, though he did not voice his agreement or disagreement. Instead, he posed an unrelated question:

“Freud, have you ever heard of the Oath of Luo?”

Upon hearing Angel’s words, Freud’s expression quickly turned sour.

“Lord Pat, is it necessary to go this far?” Freud’s voice quivered, “This research will undoubtedly shake the entire Wizarding World in the future. It is nothing but beneficial for you.”

Angel responded, “There are certain things that I can’t disclose unless you take this oath.”

Freud fell silent.

The Oath of Luo, formally known as “The Followers’ Oath Drafted on the Azure Plains by Luo,” is a highly restrictive contract. Once the Oath of Luo is made, one’s rights no longer belong to oneself. Body, mind, and spirit all belong to the contract’s master.

This contract is almost entirely in favor of the contract’s master. The only restriction on the master is that they cannot arbitrarily kill the follower without sufficient reason.

However, this restriction is quite broad, merely guaranteeing the follower’s temporary safety.

Typically, the Oath of Luo is a contract forced upon the defeated or the submissive.

Therefore, when Freud heard Angel mention the Oath of Luo, his face drastically changed.

“In your envisioned research, there is a crucial point that cannot be bypassed. And this point, if you don’t make the Oath of Luo, I can’t reveal it to you,” Angel paused before continuing, “Of course, you can also choose to refuse. How do you choose?”

After a lengthy silence, Freud chose to refuse to make the Oath of Luo.

Angel understood Freud’s choice. The majority of the transcendent beings are proud, and although Freud had passed away, the pride deeply ingrained in his soul had not faded.

Unless they had no other choice, no transcendent being would willingly make the Oath of Luo.

“Although you have chosen to refuse, I still need to form a contract with you.”

Angel’s words made Freud’s face turn pale instantly. He thought Angel was enraged by the refusal and intended to force him to sign the Oath of Luo through his strength.

However, Angel didn’t do that. “Rest assured, it’s just a promise made under the witness of the World Will. The contract stipulates that you are not allowed to hand over the research topic related to the Dream Conch to anyone in any form, not even unintentional disclosure.”

The reason for this stipulation was also for Angel’s self-protection.

Given the research proposal offered by Freud, despite it being currently speculative, the potential for success is indeed plausible due to the Dream Conch’s activation by nightmare power. If successful, the Dream Conch could be ranked as a strategic-level Mysterious Object, or even higher.

Should this research become known to outsiders and deemed valuable, Angel, as the possessor of the Dream Conch, might fall into danger. Having previously dealt with the incident with Jiebo, Angel must consider all aspects and not leave any potential risks unaddressed.

Freud, after a brief moment of stunned silence, understood Angel’s intentions and finally nodded in agreement, “Alright.”

After the contract was signed, Angel did not dispel the Nightmare Domain, instead he continued, “With no interruptions now, wouldn’t you mind giving me an introduction to this?”

Angel brandished the Dream Conch.

Back when they were with Eniya, Freud only briefly discussed the Dream Conch, leaving much unsaid. Now that Angel had acquired it, he naturally wanted a deeper understanding.

Freud did not refuse and began to share what he knew about the Dream Conch, as well as some insights about “Dreams.”

Being a practitioner of dream energy and even known as the “Dream Reader”, Freud’s understanding of dreams and the Dream Conch was incredibly profound.

As time slipped away and Freud’s explanation unfolded, Angel began to grasp a basic understanding of the Dream Conch.

By the time the dawn’s early light started to paint the sky, Freud had finally shared all of his understanding of the Dream Conch’s properties, along with the results of some of his experiments using it.

It was only then that Angel dispelled the Nightmare Domain.

With the disappearance of the Nightmare Domain, Sunny, who had been patiently watching through the window of the building, immediately rushed out, flinging herself into Freud’s arms.

“Do you plan on staying here indefinitely?” Angel asked, raising an eyebrow.

Freud set Sunny down, gently stroking her hair. However, his eyes were filled with uncertainty, as though unable to see the path ahead.

In response to Angel’s question, Sunny was equally curious. She looked at Freud with anticipation, hoping he would choose to stay.

After a while, Freud finally sighed, “Until I find my next goal, I guess I’ll stay here at the orphanage.”

“Are you not afraid that Eniya will come looking for you if you stay here? Won’t the people of Hurricane Tower, knowing your soul resides here, come looking for you?” Angel asked curiously.

“They won’t, they won’t come looking for me. As a mere soul, I’m of no use to them,” Freud replied, somewhat despondent.

Angel gave a nod, “Alright, I hope you can live the life you desire.”

With that, he turned and walked towards the playground, prepared to depart with Drew.

Suddenly, Freud called him back, “Lord Pat, before we headed to Saint Seim City yesterday, we made a pact. I owe you a promise. Do you have any requests?”

Angel halted his steps. Regarding this promise, he initially intended to tell Freud to owe it for now, but presently, there was indeed a matter where Freud could assist.

“The experiments involving the Dream Conch you were discussing earlier sparked my interest in dream-related spells. How about teaching me a dream-entering spell?”

Freud paused for a moment, “Sir, are you planning to continue the research on the combination of Dream Conch and Illusions?”

Angel made a face, “Your research topic interests me. However, since you’re unwilling to swear the Oath of Luo, I’ll have to research it myself.”

“I…” Struggle flashed in Freud’s eyes. He was genuinely interested in continuing the research, yet he was not ready to completely give up his freedom.

“Oh, is it too difficult for you to teach me the dream-entering spell? If that’s the case, never mind.”

“No, I can teach you,” Freud replied. “Could you take me back to my room in the Cathedral of the Dead? Give me some time. I’ll record the dream-entering spell and leave it there.”

Angel nodded, teleporting Freud into the Cathedral of the Dead.

It took Freud half an hour to write down the second-level spell—Dream Entry—in the Cathedral of the Dead.

Once he confirmed everything was in order, Angel stepped into the mist, placing the still sleeping Drew into the gondola.

Having done all this, Angel prepared to dismantle the illusion encompassing the orphanage.

“Lord Pat, is it possible to maintain this illusory realm?” Freud suddenly proposed.

“Why?”

“I don’t wish to be disturbed by outsiders, nor do I want Sunny to kill again. I just want to spend a peaceful time in the orphanage with Sunny and Alda. This illusion, at least, could serve as a barrier against intruders.”

Angel pondered for a moment, “That’s feasible. I can hand over the secondary control of the illusion to you. You will have free reign over everything within it. However, you won’t be able to modify or decipher the illusion.”

“That’s more than enough, thank you.” Freud smiled, expressing his gratitude, “By the way, this ‘Dawn of Slaughter’ illusion, may I allow others to experience it?”

“Didn’t you say you didn’t want outsiders to disturb you?”

“I find this illusory game intriguing. Once I find a suitable body, this illusionary game might become a source of income.” Freud explained, “You know, there are always some who are willing to spend money seeking thrills.”

“Rather than earning money from ordinary people, why not manage this place as a proving ground for talent users? You might earn even more this way.”

After a light-hearted exchange, Angel prepared to leave.

As he boarded the Gondola, Freud hesitated for a moment, then suddenly made up his mind and flew over, “Lord Pat, if your research succeeds, could you come to find me?”

“Hm?”

“I would be willing to swear an Oath of Luo at that time.”
