Chapter 900 The Lovers

Chapter 899 The Return of Redhead <TOC> Chapter 901 Swamptide Spider

Translator: SumTLMan

The Gondola sails in the sky, with Angel and Suis sitting face to face.

Ever since Suis found out that the mysterious fluctuations were coming from the “Dream Conch of the Moonlit Coast”, he had been silent. Angel did not delve into Suis’ state of mind, but upon hearing that he was also returning to Grud Town, he invited him onto the ship.

Although Angel had a deep aversion to Suis, Suis was somewhat different from Eureka. When confronting Eureka, who had suffered mental damage, he couldn’t defeat her, but he could escape. However, when facing Suis, he didn’t even have the chance to flee. Thus, in his helplessness, he chose to step back proactively.

Nevertheless, after boarding the ship, Angel was pondering his next move.

Suis’ return would inevitably upset the balance he had been maintaining with Eureka. Eureka, as she herself said, might not be that interested in Jon. However, Suis was different. Not only Eureka, but Leon also admitted in person that Suis had instructed him to record every piece of data about Jon meticulously, revealing his deep concern for Jon.

Under these circumstances, what should he do to ensure Jon’s safety while keeping his own head above water?

After contemplating for a moment, Angel had originally planned to wait until the Wilderness of Dreams was nearly established before sending Jon in. But Suis’ return hardened his resolve to pull Jon into the Wilderness of Dreams first, whether or not there was still a chance to cure Jon’s body.

At that point, regardless of Suis’ attitude towards Jon, at least Angel could protect Jon’s conscious spirit in the end.

As Angel was deliberating, Suis, sitting opposite him, had a complex look on his face, with occasional flashes of distress in his eyes.

He had never expected that the mysterious fluctuations would come from the Mysterious Object mentioned in the Wizarding World’s rumors as being the most useless — the Dream Conch of the Moonlit Coast! This useless item, besides being a research material for alchemists, practically had no other use.

And Angel, being a “half-step mysterious” alchemist, using the Dream Conch for research in order to break through the final mysterious realm barrier was a perfectly logical move.

But because of this damned conch, he had actually opened a planar passage?! Traveling all the way from the Sea Moon City to Watford!

The thought of the exorbitant cost of casting materials needed for opening a planar passage, Suis found his mood impossible to settle.

Could he truly lay the blame on Angel? If anyone else stood in Angel’s place, a mere apprentice wizard, Suis would no doubt vent his frustration instantly. Yet, Angel, as an alchemist, holds a standing that’s considered even more prestigious than a standard wizard. Despite Suis’ own capabilities, since he decided to align himself with Angel, he needs to treat him as an equal. Moreover, Angel possesses the confidence and ability that warrants such equal treatment.

Consequently, when he couldn’t vent his frustration, he naturally had to argue logically, but logic never took his side in this scenario.

After all, his action of creating the planar passage was completely voluntary; he even harbored the intention of snatching the Mysterious Object. In such a situation, it was clear that reason wouldn’t favor him.

Therefore, he had no choice but to swallow this bitter pill.

The inability to voice his resentment caused his heart to ache throughout the journey.

Although they were both aboard the same flying ship, their thoughts were worlds apart. While one worried, the other was nursing a wound.

It was Suis who finally broke the silence, seeing that the situation could no longer be changed. Since he was already here, he might as well use this time to understand Angel’s character and attitude. Simultaneously, he was slightly intrigued by the peculiar expression Angel had on his face when they first met.

“This flying ship is truly an eye-catcher,” Suis commented genuinely. The exterior of this ship was outstanding, so much so that one could even consider it a piece of art. Adorned with stars and the moon, and shimmering with luminescence, its beauty would be unmatched when sailing at night. “I recall encountering some wizards from the Savage Grottoes on Silver Palm Island. Their flying vessels were not like this. Did you craft this yourself?”

Since Suis had previously stated that he knew about Angel’s identity, he must also be aware of Angel’s alchemical skills. Hence, Angel didn’t see the need to hide and admitted it with a nod.

However, Angel was rather surprised to hear Suis mention Silver Palm Island.

“Silver Palm Island?”

“Do you know about Silver Palm Island as well?” Suis seemed taken aback, curiosity glinting in his eyes.

“Earlier, when I traveled across the Devil’s Sea with the White Shell Shipping Company, we passed by Silver Palm Island. Although, at that time, the island had already been occupied by the Leviathan.” Angel paused before adding, “Later, I heard from Jiebo that something had happened on Silver Palm Island.”

“Indeed, some unexpected events occurred. Someone attempted to claim everything for themselves, but not only did they fail to acquire it, they even lost what they originally had.” Suis offered a mocking smile, sparing the details of Silver Palm Island, but curiously inquired, “The Jiebo you mentioned, could he be the disciple of the Sea God you’re referring to? Are you acquainted with him?”

“I’ve met him a few times, but we’re not close. Also, we’ve had some unpleasant encounters,” Angel admitted frankly.

Suis reflected on the hefty man he had encountered at the Vichy Harbor, a member of the Song of the Deep Sea, who generally resided on the opposite end of the Devil’s Sea, on the Endless Ocean, spanning four vast seas from here. He wondered why the man had abruptly shown up here.

An intuition told Suis that the sudden appearance of the Deep Sea’s men might have something to do with Angel.

Suis didn’t voice his suspicions, subtly shifting the conversation to other topics, such as Leon.

Leon had once told Angel that he saw Suis as his “mentor,” though Suis had never acknowledged it. Angel was curious about Suis’s view on Leon.

From Suis’s discourse, Angel sensed that Suis seemed to hold an appreciative attitude towards Leon.

“Have you, by any chance, assessed Leon’s innate talents?” Angel asked, attempting to gauge whether Suis had any intention of taking Leon under his wing.

Suis responded, “It’s almost certain that Leon is on the bloodline branch. However, a more detailed assessment might have to be conducted later.”

Angel nodded. Based on Suis’s response, at least Leon wasn’t being overly hasty.

They conversed more about Leon, but eventually, the conversation turned to Angel himself.

“Leon’s talent is commendable, but compared to you, it seems he falls quite short. I recall you leaving Edge Island less than five years ago, and in such a short period, you’ve not only reached this level in alchemy, but also maintained your cultivation,” Suis looked intently at Angel, “You’re not far from advancing to a full-fledged wizard.”

Angel’s strength had already reached the high stage of the third level, just a hair’s breadth away from the peak.

Angel himself was a bit perplexed and concerned. As his physical condition gradually improved these days, his strength also continued to soar.

It was baffling how integrating a mere strand of Projection Bloodline could lead to such a leap in his capabilities.

In his current state, Angel was a mid third level apprentice; according to his pace of cultivation, he wouldn’t reach the high level until next year. However, at this moment, he had already surpassed the high realm of the third level, continually pushing his strength ever upwards.

Moreover, the Projection Bloodline hadn’t yet fully demonstrated its effect. Angel estimated that once its full potential was harnessed, that additional smidgen of the Projection Bloodline would propel him to the peak of the third level.

“Everything was a fortuitous coincidence,” Angel paused, “As for the threshold to becoming a formal wizard, I can’t necessarily cross it. Furthermore, I still have many foundational aspects that aren’t firmly established.”

“Serendipity requires personal effort as well. Much like crafting, no matter how precious the materials, if they are left untouched without refining, they won’t manifest their effectiveness, right?” Suis chimed in, “Speaking of crafting, I’ve heard that you’ve created a high-rank alchemy work, which has caused quite a stir in the crafting circle…”

Angel had been contemplating Suis’s initial remarks, but when the latter half was uttered, he felt a tinge of caution.

“…May I see it?”

Angel: “…” Indeed, his intuition hadn’t been misguided.

At this moment, a cold sweat broke out on Angel’s back. When he had crafted the Rhythm of the Ocean, he hadn’t thought of showing it to anyone else, initially planning to let Mirror Lady enjoy it. That’s why he had incorporated the images from the so-called —Handsome Man Field Guide— into it.

However, now that Suis had suddenly expressed a desire to see the Rhythm of the Ocean, Angel was taken aback.

Caught off guard, he wasn’t sure how to react.

He could only lower his head in embarrassment, stuttering and unsure of how to refuse.

Suis had merely brought it up casually, intending to use it as an opportunity to praise Angel’s crafting skills and foster their relationship, but he hadn’t expected such an odd reaction from Angel.

While he was mulling over the possible reasons, the sound of horse hooves and urgent cries echoed from the ground.

Angel, too, heard the noises emanating from below. Seeing that Suis’s attention had shifted to the ground, he breathed a sigh of relief.

Looking out as well, he realized, unbeknownst to him, they had already arrived at Grud Town.

The flurry of horse hooves was emanating from Pat Manor, racing out in haste.
