Chapter 1019 The Returning Anomaly

Chapter 1018 Spatio-Temporal Mystery <TOC> Chapter 1020 The Bizarre Journey

Inexplicably, the confining power of the Spatio-Temporal Mystery seemed to diminish considerably on Sanders.

“Is it a figment of my imagination?” Sanders hesitated for a moment, deciding to put it to the test. He launched himself towards the direction of the exit. Previously, though he had already caught a glimpse of the luminous exit, he couldn’t draw closer. It was like a star twinkling in the night sky, seemingly within reach, but in reality, the distance was incomprehensibly vast.

However, now, as Sanders ventured forward, he clearly felt as if he were truly nearing the source of light.

“It’s real! The confining power of the Spatio-Temporal Mystery has diminished!” Sanders was somewhat taken aback. Nothing had happened, so why had the power of the Spatio-Temporal Mystery been diminished?

He came to a halt.

Something felt off. The Spatio-Temporal Mystery couldn’t possibly unravel without reason. There must be a subtle power at play, clandestinely altering the structure of the Spatio-Temporal Mystery?

Sanders calmed his mind and focused on sensing it.

As time passed, Sanders couldn’t detect anything until a particular moment.

When the reflection in the sky above the Paramjit Plateau completely disappeared and the downpour began, Sanders, in the interplanar passage, suddenly perceived a strange power passing through him.

Sanders was only aware of this power for an instant, not even a tenth of a second.

Yet in this fleeting moment, the impression it left on Sanders was indelible.

What kind of power was it?

A power capable of unraveling the Spatio-Temporal Mystery was certainly not to be underestimated. However, what he sensed was as delicate as smoke, which could dissipate without notice.

In fact, this power was even less intense than a breath of wind, a droplet of water, or a spark of fire.

If it were any other time, Sanders would have dismissed it entirely. But now, he noticed something peculiar about it.

In reality, this power seemed as insignificant as a wisp of dust. Yet in some ineffable aspect of the universe, it was like an enormous beast, its size impossible to gauge at a glance.

It was as though its power resided in another dimension, yet it could influence the parallel world.

Even though Sanders only glimpsed it for a moment, he could confirm that this power had transcended the Law Lines!

Sanders found himself at a loss to comprehend the intricate structure of that power. Even though his knowledge was but a glimmer, a mere glimpse of something intangible, deep within, a speculation stirred — perhaps, this was the path to the future.

Ancient anecdotes whispered of the hierarchy of truth: the first three levels, belonging to the beginner wizards; the following three levels, meant for the intermediate wizards; and above it all, three more levels, collectively referred to as — the miraculous!

Only those who ascended to the realm of miracles earned the prestigious title of senior wizards.

Sanders had often contemplated this hierarchy: if beginner wizards chose the path, and intermediate wizards crossed over to the other side, then what did miraculous wizards represent?

Intermediate wizards were already capable of harnessing the power of the laws, creating their personalized law domains.

According to all of Sanders’ previous understanding, the power of laws was the pinnacle of all strength. Then, what could be the power wielded by those wizards entitled as miraculous?

In that moment, Sanders experienced a sudden enlightenment.

Perhaps, the manifestation of a higher power was precisely what he had accidentally observed before.

It seemed so unassuming, yet the underlying power was beyond human imagination.

Sanders found himself floating in the darkness, the surrounding Spatio-Temporal Mystery entirely disintegrated. But there was no relief in his heart. He was still immersed in the awe inspired by that “great power,” humbled by his own insignificance.

Witnessing such power before reaching that level — was it good or bad?

Sanders was unsure.

To others, such power might seem unattainable, causing mental pressure and demonic obstacles, halting any further progress. But for Sanders, his ambition had never been confined to petty gains within his reach. Just like his attitude towards the Time Thief, Sanders was different. His contempt and hatred for Cassini stemmed from his refusal to be complacent. From the very beginning, his aim was to grasp the truth!

Now, upon encountering a new level of power, Sanders felt no discouragement. On the contrary, he found it incredibly exhilarating.

A laughter echoed in the darkness.

It began subdued, but gradually, the laughter broke free. It was as if a madman was indulging in his own trivial emotions.

The source of this laughter was none other than Sanders himself.

Following a rare indulgence, the boundless constellations shimmered in the obsidian gaze of Sanders, illuminating the path to what we know as — hope.

Sanders refrained from pondering the origins and the future of that formidable power. He recognized that such matters were far beyond his grasp, not meant for meddling at his level.

Possibly, this power was merely a careless flick of the finger by some mighty being during a moment of ennui.

Delving into such was not only pointless, but also tiresomely boring.

He just harbored the enlightenment brought by this power within the depths of his psyche. Then he stopped contemplating it, turning instead to face the problems of the tangible world.

“The Spatio-Temporal Mystery is utterly powerless against such a power,” Sanders softly said. “So, is this a curse or a blessing?”

As Sanders pondered, the exit not far from him suddenly began to flicker.

He was jolted back to reality, turning to look.

At some point, several winding lightning serpents appeared at the crack of the interplanar passage exit. They were rapidly repairing the rift!

“Is this the power of the World Will?!” With Sanders’ acumen, combined with the current situation, he immediately deduced the state of affairs.

Presumably, the planar fusion in the outside world had concluded, hence the World Will started to mend the broken spatial rifts, stabilizing the spatial energy of the Paramjit Plateau.

Regrettably, the interplanar passage that he created using the Fragment Ephemera was also included in the “repair range” by the World Will.

Sanders couldn’t help but curse, “Why does it have to happen now?!”

The awe-inspiring power of the World Will was not to be trifled with!

In almost an instant, the entire interplanar passage began to collapse. Unstable spatial energy started overflowing from the surroundings, and large patches of mottled layers fell from the walls on both sides of the passage, just like the peeling of a shell.

Soon, this interplanar passage was on the verge of collapsing amid a storm!

Sanders originally planned to return to Whispering Wind Valley, informing Angel that the danger was over and bringing him over. But now, with the impending collapse of the passage, he had no time to return!

If he decided to return, there was a high probability that he would perish halfway through.

The singular route to escape, was to exploit the brief time before the thunder and lightning had completely sealed the exit, to abscond from this place!

In the end, Sanders chose to exit first and, once the situation stabilized, he could always use a Fragment Ephemera to journey to the Abyss and bring Angel back.

Having thought this through, Sanders glanced back at the passage that had already collapsed halfway, cursed under his breath, and hastily retreated out of the passage.

When Sanders came to a standstill at the border of the Paramjit Plateau, the passage in front of him had completely vanished from sight.

He stood in silence for a while before turning to leave. Given the recent unexpected occurrences with the interplanar passage, he didn’t dare to open another one immediately. He planned to make a trip back to the Savage Grottoes and seek Rhine’s assistance.

As things stood, Angel being in Whispering Wind Valley should still be considered safe.

“I hope you won’t wander around. Wait for me to come to get you.”

Sanders lifted his head as though he could glimpse another world through the clear, blue sky — that figure huddled in the dark cave.

At present, Angel was indeed huddled up. However, the cave wasn’t bathed in pitch-black darkness; instead, it was strikingly bright and… dreamlike.

Numerous points of light surrounded the shadowy cave, fluttering like fireflies, rendering a scene of captivating beauty.

Angel was, at this moment, rather puzzled about the origin of these light points.

The story starts not long ago when he was anxiously waiting for Sanders to return from the interplanar passage. He didn’t end up waiting for Sanders, but instead, was greeted by a peculiar beam of light.

This beam of light, like an arrow, pierced through the interplanar passage and immediately shot towards Angel.

Then, the necklace that Angel had been wearing close to his body for many years — the Heavenly Eye — woke up after many years of dormancy.

The Heavenly Eye floated before Angel, its sapphire bead flashing with an irregularly flickering light.

While Angel was bewildered, the faint light flashing within the core of the Heavenly Eye broke through its confinement. It came out from the sapphire bead like spilled stardust or fragments of glimmers.

Initially, these fragments only encircled Angel, radiating a strange yet ancient aura.

However, they were quickly entwined by that peculiar beam of light from earlier, and finally dissolved into individual light points that twinkled and fluttered around like fireflies.

Disregarding the unresolved uneasiness and the inexplicable sense of dread, the scene before him was undoubtedly a beautiful, dreamlike landscape.

Bearing a discerning gaze, Angel reached out with mental tendrils, attempting to study these luminescent specks.

Intriguingly, these specks eluded his investigation, as though they were never there in the first place.

As Angel pondered, an old memory abruptly surfaced. When he first ventured into the Wizarding World, his Heavenly Eye had also undergone peculiar changes while he was aboard the Cloud Whale, though at the time he had been sleeping.

However, Nausica, who resided in the neighboring tent, had witnessed these peculiarities within his room.

Subsequently, when Angel got wind of this news, he had also consulted Toby.

The compiled information suggested that the Heavenly Eye was suspended mid-air, surrounded by numerous specks of light, all of which it absorbed.

Following that, the Heavenly Eye reverted to an inert object, with no further abnormalities noted.

How strikingly similar was that scenario to the current situation!

However, the anomaly with the Heavenly Eye back then could likely be attributed to a planar fusion occurring in the nearby Devil’s Sea. But presently, no such planar fusion was taking place, was it?

Angel’s gaze meandered and finally rested on the interplanar passage.

Wrong. There was indeed a planar fusion. Wasn’t Paramjit Plateau at the other end of this interplanar passage?

So, could it be that the planar fusion at Paramjit Plateau, communicated through the interplanar passage, triggered the Returning Anomaly in the Heavenly Eye?

Angel felt as if he had stumbled upon the truth.

If his conjectures were accurate… Angel remembered how the planar fusion in the Devil’s Sea had inexplicably failed last time. Could it be that the current fusion also failed due to the interference of the Heavenly Eye?

Angel’s thoughts churned relentlessly. Just then, the specks of light hovering around him like miniature stars began to fluctuate abruptly.

They converged into a formation, morphing into a glittering galaxy.

And the Heavenly Eye, levitating in mid-air, became the destination of this silvery galaxy. All the specks of light reversed course and funneled into the Heavenly Eye at this moment.
