At this moment, Angel was caught in a daze.

Upon the ascension of the formal wizard known as Winchester, an aura of puzzlement not only adorned the faces of the wizards perched atop the floating iceberg, but even Fafnir sneered disdainfully, “This frail mortal is chosen for battle? From what I observe, he won’t even triumph over Canaan.”

The called-out Canaan also eyed the slender youth in the illusion, judging from his displayed momentum and inherent capabilities, it seemed he was merely of an average wizard’s caliber.

After her voyage through the Rhythm of the Ocean, Canaan’s current power could not be claimed to have transformed as dramatically as the Panaces Succubus, but in the home field of the Abyss, she should be capable enough to handle an ordinary wizard.

“Indeed, he seems weak, possibly at par with Prapa’s current level.” Partially biased, Canaan was also under the impression that Winchester would definitely lose to Komodo.

Angel opined, “Mumin, the puppeteer behind the previous marionette drama, also appeared weak, yet he held sway over three Great Demons. Perhaps, he possesses a similar ability.”

“Despite being absent from the celestial stage of the puppet show, I could perceive its threat. But as for this man, apart from sensing frailty and illness, there’s not an iota of danger,” reasoned Fafnir, leading to her conclusion that the human was essentially walking into his death.

Originally, Angel thought that Winchester had a Mysterious Object, but upon hearing Fafnir’s words, he began to doubt his own judgment.

However, Angel still believed that Frost Moon wouldn’t blindly sacrifice a team member.

Unlike Fafnir who rushed to conclude, he stayed silent, gazing at the sky, waiting for the tides of change.

Then he witnessed the astounding scene that unfolded next.

The primary reason behind Komodo’s formidable strength was its ability to comprehend certain things from the fluctuating flames. This allowed it to achieve the effects of true knowledge spells when unleashing basic spells like “Fire Evasion”.

Given Komodo’s energy reserves, simultaneously casting countless Fire Evasions, Fireballs, Hands of Fire… was a breeze. Each of these numerous basic spells was incredibly powerful. A slight scrape would severely wound an ordinary wizard; if subjected to concentrated attacks, they would almost instantly be turned to ashes.

Relying on such rudimentary spells, Komodo achieved a state where it could shatter myriad laws with a single force.

Facing Winchester, an inexplicable caution arose within Komodo, preventing it from unleashing a mountain-crumbling, sea-overturning barrage of flames. Instead, it narrowed its eyes and extended its index finger.

At the tip of its finger, covered in black-red scales and sharpened claws, emerged a tiny flame.

Swoosh——

In a heartbeat, the orange-red flame, dragging a long tail behind it, streaked towards Winchester like a meteor across the night sky.

Though it was but a tiny spark, the wizards who had previously borne witness to the havoc wrought by Komodo knew full well the horrifying amount of energy contained within this small flame. Apart from those possessing true knowledge, there was likely no one present who could withstand it.

However, their perception was shattered in the next moment.

As the tiny flame darted towards Winchester, he exhibited no fear. Even when the fiery glow illuminated his face and the image of the flame flickered in his eyes, he calmly extended his hand.

A subtle, green light glinted in his otherwise unassuming eyes.

His hands traced a peculiar arc in the air. From afar, it looked as if he was parting the clouds with the flame nestled within them.

His slender, fair hand merely cradled the flame before turning it over.

The orange-red flame obediently came to rest on his fingertip. With a casual smile, Winchester snapped his fingers, and the flame dissipated.

Komodo could create flames with a snap of his fingers, and Winchester could extinguish them in the same manner. It was clear that Winchester was countering Komodo’s boastful display of power.

“What just happened? How was he able to handle that so easily?” Everyone wore a bewildered expression.

The entire scene felt seamless; Winchester had effortlessly intercepted the flame. If it had been a regular flame, anyone present could have done the same. But that was no ordinary flame!

Seeing Winchester’s move, Essex let out a long sigh of relief. However, his stern expression returned quickly. This was no time to relax. No matter how exceptional Winchester’s ability, it could at best counter Komodo. The two Great Demons recovering behind Komodo posed the real threat that needed to be eliminated quickly.

“Winchester, I’ll back you up!” Essex blinked behind Winchester, simultaneously facing Komodo, whose complexion had suddenly turned sour.

Angel wore an expression that read, ‘I knew it.’

The fact that Frost Moon didn’t stop Winchester from joining the battle indicated one thing: he was no pushover.

Sure enough, he was hiding his trump card.

Angel turned to look at Fafnir, curious to see her reaction after being proven wrong. But Fafnir was frowning and murmuring about something being ‘not right’, paying no attention to Angel.

Angel glanced back at Canaan, who avoided Angel’s gaze. Canaan, engrossed in the delicacy that had been laid on the table earlier, chewed thoughtfully. She even found the time to comment, “Delicious!”

Angel responded with a neutral expression and a slight smirk, “If it’s so delicious, feel free to have more.”

“No, something’s off!” Fafnir’s eyes sparked as if she’d thought of something, “The flame changed!”

“The flame changed? What do you mean?” Angel queried with puzzlement.

Fafnir contemplated, “The blaze summoned by Komodo may seem mundane, but it carries an intriguing force aligned with the laws of the sky’s flames. Yet, when caught by that human, the fire seemed to remain unchanged, but every ounce of its unique power vanished without a trace, altering its nature entirely!”

A change at the very essence?

An idea flickered into existence within Angel’s mind, feeling as if this observation bore striking similarities to someone’s talent he knew?

……

The battlefield of the skies tipped the scales of victory back towards the human camp after Winchester joined the fray.

Komodo had considered the seemingly fragile human as a potential threat. Still, it never believed its fire could be countered.

After all, the Lord of Fire was about to descend, triggering certain alterations in the laws of La Sutherland’s fire. Komodo seized these changes and incorporated them into its flame. Anyone challenging its flame was insulting fire itself and provoking the throne! No one could triumph under the fire’s majesty!

But an exception emerged!

This Winchester could audaciously scorn its fire, an outcome Komodo had never envisaged.

Komodo’s countenance gradually darkened, “You’ve merely intercepted a single spark. Do you think you can turn the tide? Impossible! Under the Lord of Fire’s blessing, no one can defeat me!”

As it finished, a flurry of flames spontaneously appeared around Komodo. It seemed cloaked in a shower of fire, the intense heat causing the very light to distort.

Infinite Flames!

With a swing of its arm, Komodo transformed the abundant fire into a barrage of lethal arrows, hurtling towards Winchester.

The frozen stalemate reignites!

Previously, Komodo utilized lower-level spells, but this time it employed a more advanced control over fire for the first time. Moreover, it endowed the flames with a stronger law power than before.

Armed with its burning desire for annihilation, the rain of fiery arrows pursued Winchester through the vast void, a relentless hunt to exterminate!

Behind Winchester, dread flickered in Essex’s eyes. The rain of fiery arrows could pulverize his defenses. Yet, in stark contrast to Essex, Winchester showed no fear or hesitation, even advancing towards the firestorm.

Every fiery arrow that came into contact with Winchester was calmed by him, their tumultuous power transformed into tranquil flames, ultimately dissipated into nothingness.

He stood as a natural dissipating barrier for flames, a beacon of extinguishing power. As he surged towards Komodo, he not only eradicated the fearful inferno but also carved a secure channel for Essex.

From the floating iceberg in the distance, there came the rhythmic pulsations, reverberating as if they had travelled from an ancient epoch and distant lands. A music wizard, cloaked in a strange mask, unveiled a primal melody played on bone, sounding a battle anthem for Winchester!

Within the symphony of war and the rhythm of the drums, echoed an untamed cry. It was a yearning for light, a pursuit of victory!

Embracing the war anthem, Winchester surpassed his ordinary bounds. His speed increased, swiftly exceeding even the velocity of the flaming arrows!

All the flames, under his command, transformed into scattering points of flowing light, enveloping the area in a dreamy haze, a spectacle that almost felt not of this world.

Behind Winchester’s dancing radiant figure lurked the phantom of a dragon of darkness——

Despite Winchester’s frail body able to dissolve flames, a face-to-face encounter with Komodo would still necessitate Essex’s support.

The moment he would near Komodo would signal the roar of the dragon!

Komodo’s demeanor shifted from arrogance to solemnity.

Furthermore, as Winchester closed in, Komodo started to waver. Behind it were Minotaur and Eudecernos, who were hastily recuperating. If it evaded, the two vulnerable Great Demons would undoubtedly get injured. However, if it chose not to move, it could get hurt itself!

Komodo’s mind was a whirlpool of chaos. All this was due to Winchester’s abilities, which had completely shifted the tides!

“Damn it, how did he manage to pull this off?!”

This question wasn’t exclusive to Komodo. The same inquiry bubbled up in the minds of numerous wizards on the floating iceberg. How could the uncontainable inferno, which had confounded everyone, be broken by an unheard-of ordinary wizard?

Of course, “unheard-of” applied to the past. After this battle, Winchester’s name would certainly echo throughout the Wizarding World.

But more than fame, they wanted to understand——how did he do it?

“Lord Velite, do you have any idea about the trick behind this?” Someone turned to Velite, who not only had a wealth of experience but had also journeyed through various wizard regions and boasted a wealth of insights.

Velite hesitated for a moment, “Actually, I have thought of many ways to solve this fire. But these methods are either unfeasible in the Southern Region, or have been lost, or require special talents… For Winchester to solve it so effortlessly without external aid, there aren’t many methods I can think of.”

“Considering what Maher had previously mentioned——Heavenly Wrath and Heavenly Jealousy, I can think of some possibilities.”

“Perhaps he possesses a unique talent.”
