“Perhaps he possesses a unique talent.” As Velite voiced these words, Angel mirrored the sentiment, a symphony of accord arising from their individual thoughts.

“What kind of unique talent?” Inquired Canaan, but Fafnir too was casting a curious gaze at Angel.

The rarity of Fafnir’s miscalculations made her genuinely interested to know what peculiar talent he had up his sleeve to account for Winchester.

“I’ve once crossed paths with a wizard apprentice who possessed a ‘Quality Change of Water’ talent. Her ability was to directly bestow new properties upon water.” An image of Hilary flashed in Angel’s mind, “She was my opponent in a battle arena, famously known as ‘Sleepy Trickle to Flowing Stream’…”

Angel spun the tale of his encounter with Hilary and recounted her exploits.

This included her duel with Angel in the Sky Tower where she transformed water into oil; Sanders had mentioned that Hilary had brewed a pot of poison from water to get through the Nine Bloodbath Cabins; and later, during their meeting with the Son of the Ocean, Jiebo, in the Purification Garden, she had brought to boil the ‘ocean’ within his body…

This sequence of events was a testimony to the terrifying extent of Hilary’s power.

But Angel didn’t omit the fact that with every gain comes a cost. After acquiring this prodigious ability, Hilary had become unbearably somnolent, nodding off unexpectedly, anywhere, anytime — even amidst battles.

When Angel first encountered Hilary in the Sky Tower, he was almost thrashed to the point of defeat. His eventual victory was merely because Hilary had dozed off midway.

After Angel finished his account, Fafnir fell into deep contemplation, while Canaan exhibited a look of sheer terror.

Canaan is a Water Demon, her essence was essentially water. If she encountered a wizard with a talent as Angel had described — capable of transforming water into oil or magma — she would likely perish on the spot.

Canaan’s fear was unmistakable, and Angel tried to reassure her in a hushed voice, “Hilary is merely an apprentice as of now. Influencing the water inside a powerful being is no simple task. Even if you willingly let her try, she would probably drain all her energy without causing significant impact.”

Despite his words, Hilary wasn’t destined to remain an apprentice forever. Once she graduated to the realm of a formal wizard, she would become the natural nemesis of all Water Demons.

With that thought, Canaan couldn’t help but develop a sense of dread towards this so-called “Quality Change of Water” talent. She resolved that if she ever encountered such an individual, she would flee at the earliest opportunity.

On the other hand, after pondering, Fafnir addressed Angel, “From what I gather, you believe he might be someone with a similar unique talent?”

Fafnir gestured toward the figure of Winchester in the illusory realm.

Angel responded with a nod, deliberately showcasing a slow-motion clip of Winchester. Within the slowed frame, Winchester’s actions were more pronounced; his rapid manipulation of fire gave the illusion of being draped in a luminous mantle. However, upon closer inspection, one would notice that although the fire had metamorphosed into radiant light, the two bore no connection, representing entirely distinct concepts.

“A quality change of fire?” Fafnir speculated with confusion.

Angel replied, “Perhaps that is so; it’s merely my conjecture. Although there are peculiar laws within these flames, they fundamentally remain fire. The reason Winchester remains unaffected is because the nature of the flames changes upon making contact with him.”

This brought Hilary to mind.

“And just like Hilary, while he gained the ability, he also had to bear the ill-fated disasters it brought.”

The mysterious bouts of weakness and blood-spitting, similar to Hilary’s propensity for sudden unconsciousness, were strangely similar.

Hearing this, Fafnir pondered, “You may have a point.” While her words flirted with the ‘Quality Change of Fire,’ her mind mulled over a different concern—if Winchester truly had the talent for changing the nature of fire, his existence might pose a threat to Odeklaes.

As this thought crossed Fafnir’s mind, her eyes narrowed, and the look she cast towards the skyborne Winchester carried an added layer of severity.

Moreover, she wondered, if there were transformations in the qualities of water and fire, could there also be a quality change of wind? If so, that might threaten her.

Should Angel learn of Fafnir’s thoughts, he’d likely muse: Is the strongest trait of an Abyss Dragon its elemental attribute? No, it’s their boundless power. Faced with such a special wizard, they wouldn’t need to wield elemental power, mere physical strength would suffice for a quick victory. Furthermore, wizards of this category also had their disadvantages.

“He’s there! He’s right in front of Komodo!” Canaan exclaimed in shock, “Will Komodo dodge?”

Angel’s gaze returned to the skies.

Winchester could be seen cloaked in dancing luminescence, his body seeming to harbor countless fireflies in flight. Komodo, on the other hand, was wreathed in flames, its salamander-like head displaying a ferocious countenance.

The distance between them was less than a hundred meters.

Komodo remained undeterred. To evade would mean a fatal blow to the two Great Demons behind it. Moreover, it wished to personally experience what this frail youth had stirred up within the fire.

It seemed that Komodo could still manipulate the fire even after it had been launched. However, once the flames entered Winchester’s range, that sense of control vanished instantly. This sensation of forcibly losing control was one that Komodo found extremely unpleasant.

With relentless determination, Komodo spread the flames around him, creating a ceaseless and towering wall of fire, enveloping his form with numerous layers of fiery defense.

However, when Winchester charged forth, he disregarded these fire walls completely. More surprisingly, when he discovered the connection between these flames and Komodo himself, a spark of interest flickered in his eyes——

The flames, under the guidance of Winchester’s hand, dissolved into shining light.

This was something Komodo had anticipated.

But what he hadn’t expected was that while the outermost layer of fire transformed into radiant light, the flames connected to his own being, those that stemmed from his very core, did not morph into the same light but instead turned into a pervasive frosty chill.

At that time, Komodo had been observing Winchester closely, trying to decipher his secrets. Even at such a close distance, he couldn’t discern anything out of ordinary. His own flames, mysteriously transformed by his adversary into a soft, glowing light.

While Komodo was contemplating this mystery, he suddenly felt a bone-chilling cold spread throughout his body.

By the time he comprehended the situation, he found that his body was filled with an icy mist, like a winter fog.

“How can this be?” Being a Fire Demon, Komodo despised and feared the chilling frost more than anything else. Yet now, this frosty aura had invaded his body and was lingering near the very source of his flames!

After a moment of disbelief, Komodo quickly realized that this was the work of Winchester!

“Can you change the nature of fire?” Recovering from the shock, Komodo questioned in a surprised tone, “Can the fire be transformed not only into points of light but also into frost?”

Once the shining light faded, Winchester’s pale, sickly face emerged. Raising an eyebrow, he replied, “I’m not changing it, merely bestowing upon it a new characteristic, for example——”

A chilling smirk curved his lips, “Ice.”

As Winchester’s words echoed in the air, the icy chill within Komodo’s body exploded outwards.

The boundless cold inflicted an unspeakable pain on Komodo, as if someone was tearing his very essence apart. This excruciating sensation was something Komodo had never experienced before.

At the same moment, the Dark Dragon hidden behind Winchester finally showed its ferocious face. After a mighty roar, Essex transformed into a shadowy dragon, mustering the energy that had been gathering for some time, and brutally slammed into Komodo’s chest.

Komodo spat out a combination of icy frost and fiery blood, followed by the snapping sound of breaking ribs from his chest, before he was violently thrown backwards.

A hint of regret flashed in Essex’s eyes. He had given his all, aiming to pierce through Komodo’s chest with a single strike. However, he hadn’t expected the thickness of Komodo’s flesh. Despite breaking its ribs, he failed to send the demon into a fatal condition.

However, it was sufficient. The goal was merely to render Komodo powerless for a fleeting moment.

Their primary offensive focus now was Eudecernos and Minotaur! If they could slay these two great demons, they could afford to deal with Komodo at a leisurely pace.

With this in mind, Essex’s gaze was drawn to two blood cocoons, hanging eerily in the air nearby.

The Chaos Magic Cannon had inflicted grave injuries upon Eudecernos and Minotaur. Despite barely clinging to life with their ravaged bodies, they were immobile, devoid of any capacity for action, waiting for their bodies to mend sufficiently before they could move once more.

In order to expedite this process, they had both chosen to transform into blood cocoons. However, in this cocoon state, their defenses were considerably diminished and they were reliant on a comrade for protection — a role previously filled by Komodo.

With Komodo now severely wounded, the blood cocoons had been left completely undefended.

A mysterious light flickered within the colossal eyes of the Dark Dragon phantom looming behind Essex. An eerie dark aura coalesced into a massive energy ball, resembling the true gaze of a dragon, the mere sight of which was enough to send chills down the spine!

This dark energy ball transformed into a beam of light, aimed squarely at the blood cocoons.

The black beam successfully struck the blood cocoons. However, the cocoons, being the healing mechanism of the great demons, were endowed with a certain level of protection. They couldn’t be destroyed outright, forcing Essex to intensify the energy density.

Simultaneously, the previously withdrawn wizards, who dared not approach, began amassing their power.

They fully understood the course of action most beneficial to them. The previous “strategic retreat” and the current “united front” to break through the outer wall of the blood cocoons were the optimal choices in a balancing act between self-preservation and gaining an advantage.

Countless energies converged, spells were launched, and under such circumstances, the situation of the blood cocoons teetered on the brink of disaster.

However, when the tremendous energy was released and the rolling dust settled, what was revealed was not the broken blood cocoons, but an ominous cloud rolling in from the horizon.

Lightning snakes seemed to writhe within the cloud.

The surrounding air also rapidly rose in humidity.

As all the wizards focused on the situation of the blood cocoons, a chilling sound emanated from within the cloud——

“Drip, drop, drip drop.”
