In no time, this illusory figure made its way beyond the rainclouds.

With a low murmur in Demonic Language, the silhouette revealed its form.

It was a petite demon, about the height of a human child. However, from a human aesthetic point of view, its facial features were nowhere near as adorable as a child’s… its face, covered with protruding veins, was startling, and its eyes, like those of a serpent, instilled a chilling and sinister feeling when gazed upon.

A pair of fluttering wings sprouted from its back, which would have resembled the holy messengers preached by some churches, if they had been pure white. Yet, its wings were the same as its skin, a decaying grey-black occasionally marked with blood-red patterns, an epitome of heretical style.

“Nythotep, I have news to report,” the diminutive demon communicated a message into the rainclouds.

Soon, Nythotep’s voice echoed from within the rainclouds, “So, it’s a Phantom Demon. Who sent you?”

“I was sent by Lord Iadase,” the Phantom Demon replied.

Inside the rainclouds, Nythotep, located at the core, raised an eyebrow: Iadase had just gone to the Void Obelisk, why would there already be a message from him?

Nythotep lifted her gaze towards the core area. She hadn’t paid attention before but now she saw a hint of discrepancy. Centered around the Void Obelisk, a subtle Dark Glow had appeared within hundreds of meters radius.

Nythotep tried to inspect the situation within the light and shadow domain but found it impossible to probe.

Did something happen to the Void Obelisk? A sense of foreboding suddenly welled up in Nythotep’s mind.

“Come in,” Nythotep’s voice resonated into the ears of the Phantom Demon.

The Phantom Demon immediately turned into an illusory figure and slipped into the rainclouds. As soon as it entered, a voice sounded by its ear, “Your invisibility won’t work here. Show yourself.”

The Phantom Demon promptly showed its form, saying with a hint of trepidation, “Master Nythotep, this was just an unconscious action of mine, with no intent to offend.”

Nythotep didn’t say much. Phantom Demons, being scout-type creatures specialized for reconnaissance, not only could actively conceal themselves, but would also passively become invisible in the dark, so the demon’s explanation was not wrong.

“Enough of this blather. How could Iadase entrust you with his message? Why did he not relay it himself?” Komodo’s elongated, flame-lit eyes bored into the Phantom Demon with a fierce glare.

The Phantom Demon, who had been stealthily observing the two blood cocoons behind him, was taken aback by Komodo’s intensity and instantly lowered his gaze, daring not to move an inch. “Master Iadase ventured into the Shadow Mist Zone, where communication is impossible, hence he appointed me as the messenger.”

“Do you refer to the darkness surrounding the Void Obelisk when you mention the Shadow Mist Zone?” asked Nythotep.

The Phantom Demon nodded in affirmation.

“When did this Shadow Mist Zone appear? Who is responsible for its manifestation?”

“As you, Master Nythotep, journeyed to the edge of the sky, the Shadow Mist Zone materialized out of the blue. Its origins are still under speculation, but it first emerged from the Void Obelisk, leading us to believe it might be the handiwork of Master Iuppiter.” The Phantom Demon paused before continuing, “Upon its appearance, numerous demons ventured into the mist to investigate, but none have returned, their fates unknown. The domain appears as a space utterly detached from the external world, where no sound or movement penetrates. Only the faint glow from the shadows can be seen, hence its name — the Shadow Mist Zone.”

Nythotep furrowed her brows as she listened to the Phantom Demon’s account. So, the Shadow Mist Zone originated from the Void Obelisk. Could it be the creation of that fool after all?

“What message did Iadase ask you to convey?”

“The seal of the Void Obelisk’s basement has been broken,” confessed the Phantom Demon. An eerie stillness descended upon the cloud-shrouded sky. Casting a covert glance upwards, he noticed the subtle shift in Nythotep and Komodo’s expressions.

Could there be something peculiar about the basement of the Void Obelisk? The Phantom Demon wondered in silence.

“Did he utter nothing else?” Nythotep’s voice sounded steady, but it was shrouded in an unspoken tension.

“Um, Master Iadase uttered those words before ordering other demons to obstruct human advances. He then proceeded into the Shadow Mist Zone.”

Nythotep nodded, her tone even, “I understand, you may depart.”

After the Phantom Demon’s departure, Nythotep and Komodo shared a lengthy silence. After a while, Nythotep finally broke the silence, her expression grim, “It seems this so-called Shadow Mist Zone emerged after the breaking of the basement seal… It might very well be the defensive mechanism inscribed in the murals of the top floor.”

“Having received enlightenment from the Gazing Abyssal Eye, Iadase has a greater understanding of the basement’s situation than us. If he says so, then the basement must have been breached,” added Komodo.

Nythotep now had a better understanding of why she’d been feeling a sense of foreboding. It all seemed to connect back to the sinister omen she’d sensed earlier.

Should the subterranean vault of the Void Obelisk be breached, that indeed would represent a catastrophe of the highest order… Despite their lack of personal experience within the basement, a mural left behind by the Gazing Abyssal Eye adorns the top floor of the Obelisk, meticulously recording that the linchpin of all the Obelisk’s runes resides sealed within its basement.

The inscriptions of the Void Obelisk not only govern the tower itself, they’ve also permeated throughout La Sutherland, influencing even the previous space energy stabilizer that Iuppiter manipulated, which is, in essence, an extension of these runes.

If this central pivot were to falter, not only the Void Obelisk but the entirety of La Sutherland might face devastating destruction.

It is for this very reason that Nythotep’s countenance took on a grave seriousness.

Even Komodo, who usually harbors no kind words for Nythotep, was currently engaged in solemn discourse with her.

Nythotep: “Those who could shatter the seal of the basement, apart from our seven seats, should not include any other demons.”

Komodo glanced towards Nythotep: “Are you suggesting, Iuppiter is responsible?”

“Only Iuppiter could accomplish this,” Nythotep declared. The basement’s seal was the invention of the Cruel Scholar; other than the Great Demons recognized by the Void Obelisk, no one else, not even Night, who currently bears the status of quasi-Lord, could possibly break the seal.

“But, how could that simpleton Iuppiter show interest in the basement?”

Nythotep’s gaze turned dark: “Perhaps, someone has lured him…Remember, once this simpleton’s gluttony takes hold, anything could transpire.”

Currently, the iceberg has reached the periphery of the core area. The surrounding area teems with demons emerging en masse; the battle is still ongoing and remains deadlocked.

At the heart of the core area, outside the Shadow Mist Zone, a colossal Titan stands frozen in place. A seductively curvaceous Panaces Succubus lounges on the Titan’s shoulders, her porcelain legs on full display, her delicate hand gently exploring the Titan’s ear.

This succubus is Hai.

“So, Iadase has also entered?” After a playful laugh, an inquisitive look appeared in Hai’s eyes: “The Void Obelisk has never exhibited such fluctuations before, I wonder what circumstances have precipitated this time?”

The Titan let out a massive, humming sound, enough to send nearby dust particles flying: “Apparently, a Phantom Demon said that the basement’s seal has been broken.”

The cryptic basement beneath the Void Obelisk? Despite her dalliance with Iadase, Hai has never shown any particular interest in the Obelisk, never bothering to probe into its secrets. Now, she’s surprised to discover for the first time that there exists an underground lair?

Who could be responsible for breaching the seals of this subterranean vault? And what repercussions might ensue? Squinting, Hai retreated into a silent, internal musing.

Just then, the Titan suddenly said, “Hai, it seems like I’ve detected the whisper of a breeze?”

Lifting her gaze skywards, nothing unusual caught her naked eye. Yet, an unaccountable influx of wind elements in the air sparked her senses.

An enchanting grin lit up her face: “Indeed, a gust of wind it is, but one that hails from Phantasmagoria.”

With a coquettish wink, she cast a flirty glance towards the seemingly invisible breeze.

Meanwhile, in a quiet courtyard of a quaint cabin located in the southern outskirts where the Phantasmagoria can be found, Angel’s eyes flickered.

“Hai seems to have found the owner, and she’s giving him quite the come-hither look,” said Canaan, pointing towards the shifting illusion in the yard.

“She’s unaware that the breeze carries my consciousness, so she must be aiming her charms at Lady Fafnir…” Angel turned his head towards Fafnir, only to be met with a frigid stare. Swiftly, Angel corrected himself: “Indeed, she’s flirting with me.”

However, floating far away from the rainclouds, Fafnir controlled the wind, trailing the floating iceberg.

She even surpassed the floating iceberg, being the first to arrive at the core region.

This set the stage for the scene that had just unfolded.

“Indeed, there seems to be something unusual between Hai and this Titan — it’s as if Iadase is wearing a green savannah on his head.” Angel turned to the illusion, where Hai was sticking out her tongue, licking the Titan’s earlobe. The Titan seemed calm, but its ebony face was inexplicably flushed.

Canaan did not understand Angel’s metaphor, but she didn’t care, “This Titan is called Gruda. I’ve heard a rumor that when Hai first arrived in La Sutherland, she was with Gruda. Their relationship is mysterious, but given the significant difference in their sizes, it is unlikely that there is anything special between them.”

“That might be true for the past, but it’s uncertain about the future.” Angel reminisced about Hai’s awakened form, which was more or less the same size as the Titan. He had been wondering how a succubus’ awakening could progress into the physical realm, but now it seemed there might be more than meets the eye.

Angel’s gaze shifted away from Hai and the Titan Gruda, or rather, was involuntarily drawn away.

Because Fafnir, manipulating a gust of wind, had flown up high and circled around the Shadow Mist Zone.

“When did this dark light barrier appear around the Void Obelisk? I haven’t seen it before,” Canaan, like most demons, hadn’t ever entered the Void Obelisk but had at least passed by it.

It was Angel’s first time seeing the Void Obelisk from such close proximity. At first, he assumed the dark light barrier to be a normal feature. But upon hearing Canaan’s words, he turned his attention to the Shadow Mist Zone outside the Obelisk.

This so-called Shadow Mist Zone was, in fact, a domain of dark light.

When viewed from a distance, there didn’t seem to be anything unusual. At least, Angel didn’t notice any differences when looking at the Obelisk from the courtyard.

But upon closer inspection, subtle details became apparent.
